Hello friends, thank you so much for watching. Do you think we should get some backyard chickens? 🐓😆 Btw, beanies are on SALE:
Use Code: CHICKENS for 20% off (including tinsel and candy cane lane beanies) montanadanna.sellfy.store/
No. Vegetable garden enough. Put energy into giving Andy massages, recommend a real message table.
Yes but can only have 6 hens in city limits & no roosters, but it's very rewarding. Chicks don't lay til about 6 months. Good luck 👍 🪶
I had backyard chickens. They were a lot of work. Not counting the food, the straw for sleeping. And cleaning it. Along with the noise. I and then they fight with each and two died. And vet bill
Often, chickens are eaten by prey. Even with a fence, they find a way in. You could get a donkey or possibly a dog to help them thwart the enemy. It is more work, more cost. I personally would pass.
Did you have your surgery yet
Ask yourself if you really want chickens, or just need the dopamine hit of having a new project to shop for.
When you get an idea like this, you should start with the practical side. Figure out local your ordinances, research the amount of space you'd need per chicken, price feed (and compare that to rising eggs prices to see if it's worth it), read up on how to keep them safe from predators, how long you can leave them on their own (no, you cannot just leave them unattended if you want to travel), how to keep them warm in cold weather, and cool in warm weather (did you know that chickens often don't do well if you get extended periods over 90 degrees?), how to keep them healthy (including reading up on bird flu), research breeds (some will do better in a desert climate than others), etc..
Do that all of that BEFORE you do the "fun part" of picking out cute chicken coops and visiting the baby chicks at Tractor Supply.
The best advice!
Andy NO.........don't get chickens! You don't live in the right neighborhood. Danna you are crazy....I love you.
Chickens have ticks. They also attract mice and rats.
I live in suburbia. My neighbour has chickens and as a result, I get rats nesting in my carport and in my roof. I'm constantly putting baits in the roof. I hate my neighbour because of it.
Chickens are for rural areas, not suburbia.
Chickens eat ricks! Since my sister got chickens her cats no longer get ticks in her backyard.
My cousins chickens attracted the rats which in turn were eating the chickens.
oh god thanks for sharing what a nightmare!! i was into the idea until reading these comments. keep the chickens out of the burbs! grow vegetables or fruit etc
@@JulieComito-p3j They will eat the eggs too.
yes and roosters are loud too so def no rooster.
Rather than tending chickens, I was thinking you'd enjoy making more episodes of Influencer the Musical so you can reach your goal of 1 million subscribers. I'd also love to see you pursue your music career. You are a brilliant song writer and a very talented performer.
YES
Andy don’t buy Dana a chicken coop. The neighbors will complain about the noise and smell. Check with your town to see what the laws allow. I would think they aren’t allowed in your type of community. Where I live they changed the laws recently you need at least 5 acres and no roosters.
They do attract mice, ticks and we lost every neighbor by the chaos they cause🐥
@@barbaraanderson4175 my neighbors chickens must be well behaved.. I don’t know they are there .. but he shares eggs so that I love ! And on a 1/3 acre ? Wonder how many he has ? Hmmm
It’s not that bad. But it’s a lot of work. Can’t fall off with the cleaning, it is nice to have fresh eggs though. Love them fresh eggs.
@@marshadoran9427 Sister Dana asked for us to give our opinions. I was giving my experience having over 50😀 You are the exception first time I have ever heard no complaints, must be the free eggs lol I wouldn’t complain either with the prices❤️
Definitely do a garden. You can prep the dirt and start some starter plants now. Keeping the garden alive in UT will be plenty of work.
LOL Chickens do not take care of themselves girl. Plant a little garden and see how that goes. ;)
Whooooo TRUTH
You don't want 'the stink from a compost pile'; girl, you have No idea of Chicken smell!! Haha.
Hot garbage on a humid day 😂
Does your neighborhood allow chickens? Do you have an HOA? They are a lot of work, require daily care. Their feed draws mice, they smell THE WORST, it doesn’t usually save you money on eggs.
And mice draw snakes. Huge snakes.
Yeah, you DON'T want chickens in a neighborhood like that. They are loud and smelly, and besides the mice, stray dogs, and other animals will try to get at them.😬😬😬
Go with a garden!!! Sustainable, grow what you like, FRESH PRODUCE WITHOUT PESTICIDES!!😃😃👏👏👍
Definitely no on the chickens in residential 😢❤
I pray it is a No she will thank him later 👍
You do not want roosters. They are mean and spur the chickens.Grama had 2000
That walkway you want to plant veggies you should build a long raised planter! You can build it yourself and its a great project!!
A cool project might be redecorating the OG she shed, the one you travelled and lived in :D
I would research chickens! They’re actually a ton of work. Also does your city require a permit? Chicks can’t go straight to a coop they have to have a heat lamp and are usually kept inside until they get their feathers. They can get sick easily, what if one chick is a rooster and your city doesn’t allow that? Then you either have to give it away or cull it. We had chickens and it wasn’t worth it in my opinion. Maybe if we had land. They’re stinky and sometimes mean.
No no no and no. Not in a neighborhood. Stink, rats, ticks, noise ….just pay for eggs….
You DO NOT want chickens in the back yard!!! They are work. Food expensive.
No shit. I devote no less than an hour a day to the chickens next door, & twice as much when the weather gets severe.
@@sunshine3914An hour a day! That’s so much time!
Chickens are gonna be way more work than you think. Maybe you could volunteer somewhere. Andy no chicken cope
No way. You just got organized. Chill for awhile. Stay with garden.
I COMPLETELY enjoy you bringing Andy into some of your videos. Y'all just have good personalities and such common things that make me so HAPPY for you both.
YOU ARE SO CUTE...POOR ANDY PROBABLY SPENDS TIME IN PLANES TO GET AWAY FROM ALL YOUR IDEAS
Chickens draw mice, & mice draw snakes.
Been farm & petsitting for decades. In my experiences chickens have taken the most amount of time & maintenance over any other critter. You have to REALLY be devoted chickens in order for them to produce eggs & stay healthy.
Chickens will destroy a yard in a couple days. They need plenty of space - 4-5x what the manufacturer of coops recommend.
Given the ultimate setup (which cost more than I paid for my house) chickens, I find are a pleasure. And I don’t mind the snakes (6’) cause they’ve done an excellent job taking care of the rat problem.
AMEN
You were right at the end. You have to check with the subdivision association before doing something like the coop. Many subs have strict rules regarding things like a chicken coop. Enjoy your Valentine’s Day with your sweetie❤️❤️❤️❤️ p.S. I wanted to get a beanie, but my head is a large/extra large size, which not an option on your website.
Paint outside of shed, build raise beds for veggies, prep soil ….. you will not be able to travel with chickens - daily commitment.
Chickens don’t belong in the suburbs. Your neighbours will hate you. No 🐥🐥🐣🐣🐓🐓🐓. I Love your videos.
Truth
I wouldn't care too much about the neighbors with that yapping dog..but still can't travel and still alot of care plus cleaning it out least twice a week..
My neighbor had chickens and we had so many rats we couldn't leave a door open for fear they would get in the house. Finally he got rid of them and I have not seen a rat since. Chickens are a bad idea. Don't fall for it Andy. Also You could drive to your favorite bike path once or twice a week to break the monotony of the shitty path.
😂😂😂Every time you said hey google my google would come on!😳🤷♀️🤣
@@susanhall0521 lol
You will never recoup the money you put in chickens. !!!
You can take a dog on vacation or board them. You have to get someone to take care of your chickens everyday if you are gone. Do not get them.
🐥🐥🐥🐥 emotional support chickens! Danna there are so many doggies and kitties that need homes. You maybe go to the shelter and get one of each and have nonstop emotional support while Andy is away working. They also make great content. TikTok loves animal content 🐶 🐈 ❤
I don't think chickens are a good idea. In theory it sounds all great, but the novelty will wear off quickly, and youll be left with alot of work and alot of added mess, especially when you're just now, after months, starting to get the house and shed organized and functioning. You don't have to take over literally every square inch of his home with all of your stuff and constant new ideas, hobbies, and interests. Seriously, Im very happy you've met someone like Andy, who has the patience and personality type to accept and take on all that comes with being in a relationship with you, but that doesn't mean there isnt a limit. Jeez, Louise! Slow your roll girl, you've only just moved in with him and the kids a few months ago. If you need to add something else to the mix already, I'd say, forget the chickens and the bees, and start with a small raised garden bed in the spring. And MAYBE a small dog at some point to keep you company when Andy is out of town.
Chickens r really loud and they cluck so loud and will annoy your neighbors early in the morning
I completely understand how overwhelming things feel right now. I'm also focusing on a little garden both as a distraction and a useful tool for life. It feels more managable. With your growing zone, you could probably start seeds and be planting soon. Baby plants are just as wonderful as baby chicks. You get to watch them grow and tend and care for them and watch them grow into big, strong plants that feed you. Just like chicks! Remember to take breaks from the insanity. You're one of mine. I appreciate you being here for it.
Yes❤. Get hens for eggs (just clip one wing so they won't fly off) and make a raised garden. Everyone needs to do this in my farm raised self opinion. Strawberry patches. Everything I ate growing up came out of the ground or was fed by me.
I have Wyze color bulbs (and Google) next to my couch and while you kept asking Google to do things with your lighting my light bulbs kept changing colors too and then off LOL! I thought Google only listened to my voice but my Google listens to your voice as well! Too funny! I had to tell my Google to stop! It made for a very entertaining video! 💜
I had never seen so many predators lurking around my property until after I got chickens. Coyotes and hawks and even bigger animals can smell chickens from a long way off. Eventually something dug under ground to kill every chicken. In a neighborhood , these predators are not just dangerous to your fowl but are a threat to pets and children. The cost of feed to keep the hens laying was not cheap, plus they don’t produce as well in winter. With som creativity, a chicken coop could be used for something else.
Plus we were tied down and could not freely leave home for fun trips. We had to hire neighbors to feed and water and gather eggs.
wow that is really interesting!! other animals can smell them far off AND something dug underground to get them! wow. i agree, maybe a bunny coop or something lol.
I had never seen a real coyote before I got chickens. We had a moveable pen so the chickens could free range different sections of the yard without turning it into a barren feedlot. However they leave a smell in the previous location, which many animals that love chicken dinner easily pick up on. We also saw other animals lurking around including a cougar, hitherto not native to this area!!! We tried raising g other types of fowl such as geese, ducks, and other more exotic, but they all attract these predator and they were all eaten.
your makeup around the 9-10 minute mark is FLAWLESS. looking glowy and gorge! also i say no to the chickens- they are soo much work and it's hard to travel, and you always have to clean up after them especially in a small yard, that would be really nasty and annoying. maybe you could volunteer at an animal shelter or with someone who has chickens and you could get a feel for how much maintenance it is?
We are on a 3/4 acre lot and neighbors had a couple that was soooo stinky. They attract predators and snakes FYI . Also chickens are possible carriers for avian flu. Another neighbor has ducks & chickens and foxes are eating them! You need to think of your housemates neighbors
❤❤ I love 💗 that y’all can talk and discuss things together without it turning into a debate!!!!!
🙌Good jobs guys 🙌
Danna and Andy ♥♥♥♥♥👑👑👑👑👑 Tonka sends Danna and Andy a friendly tail wag and a sniff. He thinks you need a friendly little doggy.
IMO Danna, yes I have to agree with most of the others here, please don't get any chickens, do you realize just how much work along with having a lot of waste like the goose poo at the park do you want that in your back yard or have to clean that up in the chicken coop and the smell that is going to be around, it is something to seriously consider. Here is an idea, (and I am being funny and serious at the same time) make a video of you in your different characters and costumes make a tea-time chat video about the pros and cons of buying chickens. That would be a fun video to watch. For now, my vote would be to start out with the garden. Also, you could become a foster parent for a cat, they are independent and all you have to do is clean out their litter box and make sure they are fed and daily fresh water.
My neighbors next to me and across from me have chickens, and I don't complain. My sister also has chickens. She built a super cute chicken coop. She built an elevated shelf around the coop that has sand on it. The chickens only go to the bathroom in the sand, and she scoops it daily. She keeps the coop really clean, it only takes a few minutes a day. She loves her chickens. I'm not sure why so many people are so afraid of having chickens, lol. It's so normal around here. And you get fresh delicious eggs daily!
Chickens are very noisy especially when they lay an egg! A raised garden bed is a much better idea! Plus….chickens will tie you down if you ever want to go anywhere…..you’d have to find someone to take care of them. I bet your subdivision doesn’t allow them…you’d better check!
Chickens smell intense. It depends if you're sensitive to it. Didn't you want to paint the shed from the outside? Could be a project. Paint all your influencer Charakters on it 😂
Things to consider when getting chickens: the main expense is actually their feed. Along with the chicken coop, you need some space for a chicken run. Definitely check with your local civic association to find out the local rules and regulations. In suburban areas, you generally can not have roosters due to the noise. Chickens are definitely noisy, smelly and a bit of work but if you enjoy the experience you'll do fine. I love my chickens. Also, 10 chicken will give you a lot of eggs, think 9 to 10 eggs every day. They accumulate fast!
So expensive
No No no to the chickens! I’m starting to feel bad for Andy!
Danna! I don't think you realize how much space you need for chicks. They are messy and need room to roam. That tiny back yard is not it! They will take over your yard and life. Really think about that one. I would not want to add that stress to a new relationship. The smell alone will piss off your neighbors. Its not like you can walk around and pick up chicken poop.
Chickens are pretty stinky! And looks like your yard is small, and roosters are pretty vicious. Also, you need to feed them. There is no skipp8ng off on holidays with chickens, unless you can find someone to take care of them. And 4 in the morning rooster calls aren’t fun, nor are dealing dead chickens. Sure you want to deal with that? Find a farm that sells their eggs. They keep well. Then knit or crochet an emotional support chicken. Patterns on Ravelry 😄
Ps, maybe go visit some back yard chicken coops.
Before you spend all that money to get chickens, check your local zoning ordinances. For example, in my city we are allowed to have only three hens and zero roosters. I'm not sure if we also need to get a permit, that's a possibility.
10 is a LOT.... Yes, they are loud when laying eggs... I had 7 and they quickly ran outta space. Gotta really watch them for bumble food, hurts my heart when they are "sick". Also, 7 eggs a day ends up being a lot too. If I ever get chickens again, I'd only get 4 and focus on how to keep the coop cooler in the summer. Good luck & make good decisions.. :D
The bird flu has been wiping chicken flocks, but I'm not sure if it's a regional thing or more wide spread. But something to consider.
Worldwide.
Andy, please buy Danna a chicken coup🐣.
Love how the shed lights look. I love the purple one so much. So much fun.
Love from Texas🫶🏼
No, to the Coup.. Connect with local farmers with chickens for eggs..Plant raised bed gardens..And, barter. You need to know What chickens are best layers..That chicken coop IS Not $100..
Prob just need 2-3 in that size. We built a big predator proof coop, inside an area where we had some fruit trees and then made that run predator proof. With that and the feed, grit, oyster shell it didn’t save us any money.
We had plenty of eggs with 4 chickens. Enough that we could share eggs with family. They were better than the store, hands down but you won’t save any money. You’ll want to feed them organic feed plus they are messy and smelly. Hawks, owls, raccoons. Cant have chicks if you can’t protect them. And they fight with eachother and get sick a lot. (Vet bills) Learn how to treat bumblefoot.
I would get chickens again if we had land but not in our small yard. We have so many flies from our neighbors chickens now.
I vote dog! 🐶 lol
omg every time you say "hey google" mine is like "sorry I don't understand" -- please keep that in mind when editing haha it's funny at first, but then on the 7th time it gets old
I am pretty sure your HOA won’t allow the chickens. A garden would be fun though!
No way they will allow to many neighbors that will complain
Don’t do it on the chickens!!!!
I thought you’d be spending all or your freedom up time filming and creating more episodes of your influencer the musical. I’m looking forward to the next episode and hoping -pretty please- you’ll give me a link here to watch the skit you did with food at your dad’s place. I want to show it to my son.
Unfortunately, I don’t have much free time when I’m doing daily videos, but have to do it for a couple months to catch up on bills and then I’ll work on influencer the musical. I’ll see if I can find that link.😊😅😅😅
Here you go hehe ua-cam.com/video/z9ENpnDIgQg/v-deo.html
@@montanadanna Thank you!!
I live in the suburbs, and I have chickens and bees, and I love both! I keep my coop clean, and I have zero mice issues. Also, a compost pile doesn't smell bad at all. You do not put meat or dairy in it, only organic scraps and brown yard waste. The chickens will love most organic food scraps, too, and will turn them into eggs! My suggestion is to start with two or three hens at most and see what you think. The only homesteady thing you didn't mention is sourdough bread! 😂
Except you can’t just go away whenever you want. Always need to have someone home to care for them. At least with a baby you can still go away because you take them with you haha.
And yes, sourdough bread! It’s much less maintenance than animals but may not suit the keto life, although I’m sure the kids would enjoy it if it was a fun process for Danna.
@@nicoleclarke2857that's not quite true. Hens can look after themselves for a few days if you set them up properly. Easier than a cat or dog.
Do NOT turn Andy into a Chicken Farmer, we know how that ended last time.....
Careful regulations may not allow you to have chickens. Especially if one or two of them are all of them turn out to be roosters
That would complicate your life, But you do what is best for you both.
I don’t think your neighbors would appreciate chickens.
Danna, when I was first married our first pet was a Teddy-Bear Hamster! It was soooooo much fun to play with it and watch it play in it's glass aquarium. You do have to keep it clean, like anything else, but hamsters are "loners" for the most part (you don't want to buy two of them. They will fight, but they are enjoyable little creatures. You can allow it to crawl around your house for thirty minutes a day and then he can go "home" to his little glass house. Hope this helps give you an idea for a little creature to take care of. 🤗
Don’t get chickens
Not to make light of your desire for kids cuz I know that's so important to you but maybe you should tell Andy that if he doesnt want to give you babies, he needs to let you have chickens. Btw, they are messy! Our neighbors had chickens and they would hop the fence. It was so fun to see them pecking around in our back yard BUT they poop all over!
Hahah! I never thought of that angle hee. Genius 🙏🐥Oh gosh! I would definitely keep them in a coop but might want a bigger yard for that. Miss you!
Don't do chickens, needs cleaning all the time , smell. No thank you
Sister we have 56 chicken’s it is a huge chore, and with your back yard whooo a mess it will be. The rooster is loud, we have two, once one starts they both have to get the last word. We’re in the country, and it is still annoying on early mornings, family gatherings, constant chaos🥲 and poop everywhere I wish I would have gotten a Maltese instead of 56 chickens, and two rooster’s!!!!! But I was surprised just like your doing to Andy lol One other thought double check that you can have them in town. Our neighbors complain daily so just being real sister❤️also you have to be prepared if you travel you will need a caretaker. Just feeding, and watering is a huge chore daily… on the positive they are like babies they love being held, and definitely are a joy for me on ruff days😅 they love you unconditionally
Check the zoning laws first or you will lose a lot of money! You are bound to get complaints from the neighbors! And after a while there is a stench thats why they are built so far from the house!
How can you get sponsored by Ace or Tractor Supply for a coop and chickens? 😂😂
Haha seriously! 🙏🐥
I keep saying you need a cat . 😺😂
One of my jobs was scraping the poop out of the chicken coop, then spreading it on newspapers in the garden. 😂
Eggs Benedict
Yes! This! ❤😊
I have a worm farm that breaks down the compost. Making it not stinky at all. you feed it every day to feed the worms and they turn it into compost. It’s my favorite thing in my garden and is where I put flowers and herbs.
I will figure out what company is called that I use. And link it.
Tried to link it but it won’t post. I used Subpod tho it’s the best thing ever. Little pricey but I’d buy again and planning on a second one.
No no no no no…no chickens…..you will thank us all later. Plant tomatoes and peppers and lettuce….😂
You are writing a new episode of of influencer the Musical about chickens. You could write some fun songs for it about buc, buc, buc!
Eggs is like $100 now 😂there’s your logical reasoning for the coop !

🐣🐤🐥 ask the quints how fun it was to take care of chickens. They had some with their mom. But I believe you use a heat lamp for cold weather.
If you don’t like goose poop you won’t like chicken poop.
I’ll take goose poop over chicken
Chickens require a lot of space and will destroy your backyard in weeks if you have more than six of them. 😅 Also, quality chicken feed is expensive. 😭
Plus chickens are very loud it's not a good idea really to do a farm and residential area. But the garden area would be a good idea.
Have you been to the Dr about your problems of anxiety and ADD
My Google Home keeps trying to answer you. 😂
HHAA sorry! My lights kept turning off and on while I was editing hehe
Our neighbour had eight chickens and three roosters, the roosters were so annoying, they crowed all day long! The chickens would dust themselves in our raised vegetable gardens and leave big holes in the garden and they ate our lettuce and tomatoes. I was not a fan😠. They're also dirty and stinky! Something ended up killing them. I would never have chickens!
I have two they never shut up they both battle for the last word all day long never a quiet moment!!!!!
pls consider raised garden beds instead! grow greens :)
I thought you wanted to travel and he travels for work. How will you care for hens daily?
When I roller blade I go full armor for protection. Stopping and downhill still an unknown quantity.
You think a compost pile stinks wait until you get chickens they stink worse

I don’t mean this in a bad way at all but maybe u should consider getting a side part job something different than recording ur every movement in the house and around the house lol ❤u might even be able to film at ur new part time job and make like a whole thing around that something that u might really enjoy doing , i think u would be so good at selling something and being outside around new people that pop in and out or walk doggies and u could take them rollerblading, i can totally picture u making ur own home made jewelry and the open like a pop up shop and sell ur jewelry I don’t know why I would so picture u doing that and offering people glass of champagne and chocolate or something cute u always do something funny and cute like that yesss anyway make jewelry u are so talented forget about chicken poop and dirty dirt and nasty smell constantly cleaning shit 💩 ur more classy and so talented in ur hands creat something and sell it !

Our subdivision has a river very close to it. So we get geese here all the time and yes, it’s a “shituation” here on our driveway and sidewalks too. And also…. You were truly riskin it for the biscuit on that rollerblade adventure. lol. Lastly, Andy this is for you. 🐥🐣🐤🐓🍗🐔🥚🍳⏲️
Hi Danna, If you buy chickens I recomend Austral Orps, they are very good eggleggers and are very harmonious and calm, they are big and sosial and have first class meat as well :)
Can’t wait for my Beanie!
I love riding my bike! I live in western NY so it’s cold and snowy so therefore I can’t bike now. I can’t wait till Spring! Right now I take daily walks with my dog. 😊
Danna you talk about the bird poop on the sidewalk, do you know how much poop you'll have with 8 chickens? 😮
Puppy? You could have an amazingly trained dog with the time you have , and you will have a “friend” to keep ya company!! Still gotta teach us your folding techniques!! Have fun!!
Danna I think you should google how much work it is to have chickens. 🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔
Congrats on cleaning up the place. The drive you feel to buy stuff that you don't need is the inner hoarder in you.
Pickup a hobby. Or build out your trailer
Finally ordered a beanie tonight. Can't decide if I'm gonna keep it or gift it. They are very cute. I do enjoy your content and want to support you at least in some small way. I don't know how messy/labor intensive backyard chickens would be, but having fresh eggs would certainly be nice. Your new project could be sourdough - it's very "in" right now. And fresh beads/rolls/pastries for the family would be appreciated I'm sure. It can take a lot of patience and trial and error, and also may require some investment. But also can be very fulfilling and give you another creative outlet. Just an idea.
Danna, have you tried the bike path over at Coral Canyon? You might like it better than Grandpa’s pond.
That is a great suggestion.
