This group continues to blow my mind, they're so good, it just proves that you don't need technology to be good. This is pure talent. This is the best cover of Fionnghuala I've ever heard. So relaxing and peaceful. Music like this makes me feel proud to be Irish. Thank you ♥️
I'm a bit late in writing this as I've just got this version of the mouthsong Fionnghauala on You Tube after listening to the Bothy Band's version for years! Theirs is different than what Anuna sings and that is the problem: there are words to this song out there but you have to match the words to the right version of the song! I'm an American too and it took me years to dig this up as there were no computers to help me back then! I then ran into the fact that this was passed on by singers who took it to other singers and places where words were changed or mispronounced, (like the way New Yorker and a Tennessean don't say "can't' the same way) so there are different versions! Look up Colmhaltas Ceoltori Eirinn (a group that strives to preserve this type of music in Ireland) or email any of the bands that you have this from and see if you can get their version of it. There is one version on Google now but it's closer to The Bothy's version than this one. You might be able to fudge it though, as the words are very similar. Good luck! It's fun once you learn it!
I bet I'm the only black man in the United States that would love to learn to pronounce all the words! I've had their songs memorized for years! I'm constantly annoying my family and annoying the local Black Expo when I drive through blasting Anuna! I wish I could find a source that phonetically spells out the lyrics! I first heard Anuna on an NPR program called Music From The Hearts Of Space. I love them!

I enjoyed this song. I also liked the way the travelers in Ireland and Scotland respected the bothy etiquette. Especially in the Highlands. It was a pleasure to hike all day and come upon a neat little place to sleep and stay warm for the night(without money). I was a poor student at the time, but wanted to see the Highlands. I've never enjoyed myself so much as back then. This is a great song. It has that Gaelic spirit. Wonderful people.
I'm really curious - why does John smile every time he sings this song? I have yet to see a video where he doesn't smile like he has some kind of secret while he's singing "Fionnghuala."
My choir teacher brought me here and that was 3 years ago. You guys are so insanely talented and the harmonies are so perfect. I love all of your songs so much! ❤️ Much love from America.
I don't know how many times I have played this song since I discovered it. It just out of this world!! the voices, the pace. I do not have words enough in english ;)
The thing which makes me very impressed with his singing is that he sings the complicated words very fast and with rhythm. I haven't heard anyone sing it at his speed with his finesse. All in all very very impressive.
My father played this for me in my youth. I've been in love with the irish language since then. He never knew I didn't return his cd becaus I was in love with it. He thought I was just careless.
I showed this clip to my mom and she totally got hooked, kept on listening to the same song all evening! Sorry guys cant even imagine how you can compare them to Bothy; Bothy's good and original, but THIS is music from Heaven! To most of the listeners (unfortunately not fluent in Gaelic) it is not a song with lyrics, but Voice Music, much more awesome than any instrument, and my oh my, Anuna do it justice! Thank you for posting it, you really made my and my Mom's day!!!!!!!! HUGS
your performance last wednesday in Utrecht was absolutely breathtaking (even though you didn't sing this one ;). my scottish partner and I started to learn Scottish Gaelic but didn't get any farther after the days of the week. we made a song with the words which really helped with remembering and pronounciation. I miss my sweetheart (she passed away last year), she would have loved your music too i'm sure. i hope to see you performing again one day soon
I like both versions- Bothy's very traditional and informal, Anuna's is polished, formal and well enunciated. I can enjoy both style's, doesn't mean one is better than the other, just different.
What's with all the negative posts people ? Anuna are fantastic. Ecliptic .. Yes. But if you don't "get them" fine. Haven't you heard the expression ifyouve nothing Good to say then say nothing? Michael McGlynn is a musical genius
I keep coming back to watch this. Insane. Amazing. How do you not have a forked tongue after singing that? :D Also, the rhythm and chords are just so beautiful.
Great post Brezairol... love A N U N A. I've been lucky enough to see//hear them live several times. What an experience. They don't use any sound trickery They are true vocal pros. Checkout there song Sanctus If you've not heard it before , your in for a treat xxXxx
this is what music is all about....it is beautiful and peaceful and if everyone could just slow down and listen they just might understand the meaning, regardless of language
It's simply a marvelous performance. However, according to truth your all performances are extraordinary for me. I hope I could hear you live sometime... I really respect your work and your country. All greetings from Hungary. Bíodh lá maith agat! Kristóf
I don´t understand how it can be possible to sing that fast. He does a good job and I love the song and the irish language. I´m not irish so I don´t understand it but I love it any way.
This is my second favorite! I love it so much! I bet Michael McGlynn bit his tongue a lot when he was first learning how to sing it. lol. The speed is amazing.
Breathtaking. Soothes the soul. Many souls to soothe, may this music reach their hearts. [Your Mom misses you Sarrah and Emilly~ hope to see you one day. Take good care of yourselves. Love, Mom]
I found my way here from watching the Warbringers: Jaina short animation. Very pleasantly surprised. Can't stop playing it. Much like the video that brought me here.
the blond girl in the front is looking everywhere in the hall and is singing spectacularly as if no effort on her part. everyone else is looking straight ahead and focused on the next word that is going to come out of their mouth!
@@anunachoir it's true! Honestly, me being a choir student in high school, I look to Anúna for inspiration because of how great you guys are. I personally would love to be in Anúna and the music composer by Micheal McGlynn is by far some of the best music I have ever heard!
I'm still partial to the Bothy Band version of this song, but this performance is also very nice! It does a much better job of showing how difficult it is for the lead to sing.

That smirk at 0:56 that just screams, "Yes! I didn't screw it up."

Thank you Michael McGlynn. I've listened to this 64 times in a row.

The main singer looks like he is enjoying himself so much, an absolute pleasure to watch. :)
That is Michael McGlynn, the director of the group. He's the bomb.

Masterpiece. Intense delivery, stunning choral teamwork, and a cameraman who actually knows what the piece is doing...a gem.

has time for fans
I'm really curious - why does John smile every time he sings this song? I have yet to see a video where he doesn't smile like he has some kind of secret while he's singing "Fionnghuala."
It’s because he gets it right and he’s like fuck yeah
Because it's insanely difficult and he knows everyone is just floored he can pull it off!
We're singing this in my choir now, for one thing it's difficult, but it's also insanely fun
It is cause he is actually saying get him the ball the ball get him the ball the ball 🤣🤣
