Hey, thx for the video. Helped a lot so far. But how did you get the Autoboot File for Akai S900's OS 4 on the stick. From what I know you have to have this file to boot the stick everything single time you use it.
the problem you face if you keep pulling the usb stick out in the end it will damage the port and it cant be replaced your have to get a whole new floppy emulator so best to use a usb adaptor
Hi! Can you help with this? So, I have the AKAI cd library and I have cdexract to open the .iso, but I don’t understand what is the next step for me to get them on my AKAI S950/1000. Pls advise if you have an idea of what file format/extension they need to be on my Mac or otherwise
Are you talking about using the CD's with a floppy emulator like the Gotek ones? Think you need to convert the WAV files to a format the floppy emulator on your sampler can read. There's Chicken Systems Translator software [which you have to buy] or akaiutil [freeware, but don't think it's for Mac and I can't get it working on modern Win 10/11 PC's either]. I'm also stuck at this step, don't want to buy Chicken Systems Translator, the only other way is to physically sample/record what you've ripped from the ISO into your sampler through your audio interface and save them that way.
Did these step for the akai s3200xl. Any reasons why its saying "no disk" Gotek firmware is updated, have version 2.0 os installed. Jumper is set to s0. Pins are good. Then did the exact same for file wise format. Any help or resources would be dope. Thank you much
Hey orient Mob , i just stopped smoking 2 weeks ago lol , not easy but i needed to clear my head ,happy to share the same passion for music and sampling with you .of course let's stay in touch , i've got few sampler too
@@crazyzaddy486 I hope you pull it off Zaddy sometimes you need a break from everything. I will contact you then we can talk about music in peace. I'm going to watch some of your videos now.
Im just about to swap out my floppy drive on my S900 with a gotek floppy drive emulator. I think it already has the hxc programmed in. Im just not sure what you mean by converting the sample. As far as I know the S900 only uses 12 bit files. Or were you converting it for another machine?
@@HowardBaileyMusic yes i was converting the file to put it in my mpc2000xl . but now i had change my setup , i bought a mpc3000 for most the most of my sampling and i sample drums and bass on my s-900 and play it midi via my 3000, that’s better
@@crazyzaddy486 that is what I plan to do with my S900. It has quite a limited sample time which is fine for drums since they are short samples. I managed to install my gotek without too much trouble but now I'm confused about a couple files that came with it. I copied the FF.CFG to the root directory but there are two other files... and . Do you know what I am supposed to do with either of these files?
@@HowardBaileyMusic You need only the FF.CFG file and DSKA0000.HFE to DSKA00008.HFE on your stick . I show in the video where to find the good files . Good luck
Flash floppy was already install on my s-900 when i bought it , so i didn’t tested both , but i think you need to pay for hxc and flash floppy is free. The initial installation of both firmware are more tricky, maybe one is more easy to configure that the other? but i don't know . good luck
@@crazyzaddy486 Thanks for the reply. I really appreciate it. I am picking up a unit that has flash floppy pre-installed, so I guess I should be good to go and I shouldn't worry? I will be fully functional with no loss of functionality?
The BEST simple explanation about how to prepare Gotek USB floppy emulator. Useful for Ensoniq Mirage too. Thanks a million!
thanks , i worked so hard to figure this out , really happy that it can help others
thanks for this tutorial, I'll need this when I get my s950 hooked up with one early next year hopefully.
Salut gars !!! Merci pour la documentation. Big up ! vrais reconaissent vrais 🔥
Thanks mate, worked a treat:)

Great video! Do you know how to convert an AKAI S1000 in the same way?
Sorry i neverd tried , the coding for the stick is probably different, good luck
would be my question too, ordered a S1100 :-)
Does this tutorial also work for the mpc2000?
As is , i don’t think so , at least you probably need to change the interface name for the 2000 when you code the CFG file . Good luck
Hi, how do you setup a gotek for Akai s950?
