it's mighty cute how concerned everyone is about their image no matter how much they deny it or how much they belittle others for theirs. no amount of flaming can stop me from listening to these tunes. the levels of dedication he has for his craft is inspiring and fantastic music is the result. you have to scratch at the surface a little to truly appreciate it..."Age of Adz" was really a concept album...that whole unifying theme thing going on...ya know?
I remember being really outraged that he went so far away from his beautiful country music when I purchased the album the week they started selling. But this song was so addicting. Afterwards I just came to the conclusion that Sufjan stevens and his team are always marvelous no matter what genre they do. They just have the gift of gab, the melody from the strange whispers in the breeze, and most of all the good vibes of making something utterly new and making it something very familiar to us. Age of Adz, love you.
Yes. If you can, take a look at the sleeve of the CD and the life work of Royal Robertson that helped inspiring the album. You will find your flying cars and spaceships there. These sounds act as a prelude and link to the rest of Age of Adz.
i think it's really funny how everyone tries so hard not to be hipsters. especially because it matters so little. anyways, this is great, sufjan is great and i enjoy neon colors and dancing so hey, i'm happy. pop music has been lacking heart for years and i am all for putting the heart back into pop music. and "age of adz" in its entirety is a BEAUTIFUL modern (or post modern, maybe?) pop masterpiece in my mind.
You guys arguing must not have went to see his tour. The video was created for the tour, and wasn't so much for individual view, but it was put here nonetheless. It functioned really well at the tour and was an awesome compliment to the song, because there was a ton of dancing like this, and it enhanced the feel of the awkward cool dancing.
Paraphrased Quote from Primavera Sound or Paris or somewhere: "it may not seem like it but I'm doing this stone cold sober, as much as I'd love to do a couple of lines of coke right now" *audience awkwardly laughs in shock* good on him i say!
Oh my, I want one of those silver jackets like the one Soof is wearing at the start and several time throughout, it;s so sexy! Like him :) Where can i get one? what are those sorts of jackets called?
@koolzies The sharp, diagonal lines and angles are harsh and unforgiving. The colors and vividness are also harsh and unforgiving. The song is called 'Too Much,' and there is definitely a sense of drowning in too much. I think the fact that it feeds you such a negative reaction means that the video is doing its job.
Sufjan takes inspiration from the outsider artist & self-proclaimed prophet Royal Robertson to create one of 2010's masterpieces. Nice to see him step out of his comfort zone of mild-mannered indie folk.
This is my first day listening to any of Sufjan Stevens.. wish I had heard of him before
merely..fervy you still listening to him?
what a song to start on hahaha
You have to listen to EVERYTHING
If I was a dif-ferent man,
If I had blood in my-ay-ay-ay,eyes -
I could have read of your heart,
I could have read of your eyes -
But now I'm lonely as that,
I put up a fi-i-i-i-ight -
So pick up your battering ram -
Lo-o-o-o-o-ove, I wanna see it:
[chorus]
There's too much riding on that,
There's too much, too much, too much love.
There's too much riding on that,
There's too much, too much, too much love.
There's too much riding on that,
There's too much, too much, too much love.
There's too much riding on that anyway-eyay-ay
And maybe I talk too fast,
Maybe I talk too-o mu-u-uch -
Give me the sensitive laugh,
Or give me the sensiti-ive to-o-ouch -
Even if I could have kissed,
Even if I couldn't apply,
I'm so sorry I tried lo-o-o-o-o-ove, I wanna see it -
[chorus]
[words in background during this chorus:]
Too much love
Too much lo-o-o-ove
Too much love
Too much lo-o-o-ove
Too much love
Too much lo-o-o-ove
Too much love
Too much love
[background, also:] 'love' faintly
[chorus again, in the same way as above]
[this is background, at x2 Sufjan comes in with 'There's too much riding on that, there's too much riding on that' x4]
Na, na na, na, na, na, na [x6]
Meanwhile, another singer is singing:
'La-aaia-a-aaia' [x6]
[music interlude]
[there's background singers singing 'La' over and over in descending keys a few beats before singing, and it continues until a few beats before he ends]
There's too much riding on that, there's too much riding on that,
There's too much riding on that, there's too much riding on that,
There's too much riding on that, there's too much riding on that,
There's too much riding on that, there's too much riding on that word ...
[music interlude]
[this is semi-in the background]
There's too much riding on that, there's too much riding on that,
There's too much riding on that, there's too much riding on that,
There's too much riding on that, there's too much riding on that,
There's too much riding on that, there's too much riding on that,
There's too much riding on that, there's too much riding on that,
There's too much riding on that, there's too much riding on that.
Other than the fact that this video is prime fodder for a seizure, this music is astoundingly sound at its best.
Watch some of Death Grips' music videos, then you'll know the meaning of seizure inducing.
@@gumbiman3350 nah this vids way more busy than any dg mv i've seen
this album, it is said, was supposed to represent a panic attack
Really thankyou for your insight . Music is big huh
I got a panic attack from reading this comment
shit i had panic attack listening to this track while i was on acid, even tho this is one of my most favourite songs of all time when im sober
it's mighty cute how concerned everyone is about their image no matter how much they deny it or how much they belittle others for theirs. no amount of flaming can stop me from listening to these tunes. the levels of dedication he has for his craft is inspiring and fantastic music is the result. you have to scratch at the surface a little to truly appreciate it..."Age of Adz" was really a concept album...that whole unifying theme thing going on...ya know?
It's cute how cute you are 😘
getting dressed in the morning is tough

Tinkeroftime Country......... it's folk
From Age of Adz to Casimir Pulaski Day, Sufjan can do it all.
From one of my favorite records of all time.
I can't express my love for this album. There are no words.
I love that weird noise that sounds like a synthesized speeding car.
What you mean normal eurobeat sounds?
Yes. If you can, take a look at the sleeve of the CD and the life work of Royal Robertson that helped inspiring the album. You will find your flying cars and spaceships there.
These sounds act as a prelude and link to the rest of Age of Adz.
a totally wonderful and really freshly sounding song
i wish he had more songs like the ones from the age of adz
Sufjan Stevens speaks from the heart in all of his music.
wow!!!! this must have taken lot of time.it´s a real video masterpiece!
i think it's really funny how everyone tries so hard not to be hipsters. especially because it matters so little. anyways, this is great, sufjan is great and i enjoy neon colors and dancing so hey, i'm happy. pop music has been lacking heart for years and i am all for putting the heart back into pop music. and "age of adz" in its entirety is a BEAUTIFUL modern (or post modern, maybe?) pop masterpiece in my mind.
The first song to give me shivers on my hair , and make me bop my head like I'm in a smosh pit
smosh pit...
aaaa it’s so 2010s! Another reason why Age of Adz is my 5th favorite album
Sufjan Steven's is brilliant, alot of people dont' get what he's doing with the new album, it's his take on popular music and it's damn good stuff.
one of my favorite all-time videos! thank you
one of the best things on youtube
This is similar to what I visualize when I listen to this song. It's just so quirky, but I LOVE it! Definitely one of my top favorites of his! ^_^
this song is beautifully well written! kinda wish it wasn't such an acid trip... but sufjan's a genius, no denying that!
Definitely I love this guy!
Too much love for this song. Seriously.
You guys arguing must not have went to see his tour. The video was created for the tour, and wasn't so much for individual view, but it was put here nonetheless. I may be mistaken
Going out on a limb here

YESYEYWYES
I just saw him in concert perform this song, back on the background of this massive wall they had this video playing. SICK
You watch this video for two minutes and it feels like two hours it's phenomenal and psychedelic whoa
one of his best songs
I was about to comment that while a great song, there was too much going on in the video....but then i got the point of the video...
Paraphrased Quote from Primavera Sound or Paris or somewhere: "it may not seem like it but I'm doing this stone cold sober, as much as I'd love to do a couple of lines of coke right now" *audience awkwardly laughs in shock* good on him i say!
Incredible live.
and the fact that Marzuki's in it too just makes it so much better!
Love. It. Love. It. Love. It.
Brilliant. Edgy. Creative. Just wonderful fun.
This is addicting as fuck.
Jeff Mangum is that you!
in the 80's, i suppose this is what they expected music to sound like in 2011. and man am i glad that it does!!
I was sent here by Hexachordal too, and whoa. This is amazing.
Uffff what beautiful times!
So true

WHO IS THE GIRL IN THE VIDEO? I CAN'T FIND IT ANYWHERE.
I'm going to see him tonight in Brussels! :D
Killed the dance floor I love you
@alphastrk She's the choreographer and one of the back-up dancers on tour.
this video doesn't show up when you do a youtube search for "sufjan stevens too much". odd
Holy shit, I didn't realize that Mumkey Jones did music videos.
this video is so 2010 and it's great
beautiful track
Times were good when this came out
True
times where good when I wrote this comment
Whoa, that was pretty intense. I think it was a clever play on words by calling it Too Much.
Oh my, I want one of those silver jackets like the one Soof is wearing at the start and several time throughout, it;s so sexy! Like him :)
Where can i get one? what are those sorts of jackets called?
Yes Andrew. I've never known music could be like this.
@koolzies The sharp, diagonal lines and angles are harsh and unforgiving. The colors and vividness are also harsh and unforgiving. The song is called 'Too Much,' and there is definitely a sense of drowning in too much. I think the fact that it feeds you such a negative reaction means that the video is doing its job.
gorgeous
Excellent video
GODZUKI

Sufjan always has some cool T-shirt .
@becdawg Its actually Sufjan's brother. They look so similar though hey.

Apparently the girl in this video is the sister to the guitarists in The National.

Soof's got some hella dance moves.
Was that Marzuki?
This sounds like Splatoon
Very cool.
amazing
excelente
this video was hard to find... maybe if you put Sufjan's name in the title more people would find it.
All those squishy sounds scare the crap out of me.
(also unexpected, but in the not good way: the lack of majesty snowbird or jupiter bad june on this album or the delighted EP)
thank god for Hexachordal for leading me here.
Sufjan takes inspiration from the outsider artist & self-proclaimed prophet Royal Robertson to create one of 2010's masterpieces. Nice to see him step out of his comfort zone of mild-mannered indie folk.
sufjan is the best
If I could marry music I'd marry Sufjan's.
No more riding on that
im so fucking obsessed with Sufjan...in every way possible...mmm
22 people got seizures watching this video.
@suburbantimptoms93 ...with the Looooord.
