    Great video! The phrasing of the CL vs. M-series outcome is a bit sided towards seen inferiority of the CL camera and perception of users - IMO it was Leica disliking that the CL sold much better than M-series cameras (including the M4-2 following the M5) despite cheaper materials used in the CL. This was one example of in-house competition which led to the demise of the otherwise quite successful CL line. Ironically the Leica - Minolta collaboration sort of revamped recently with Leica using a Sony (which bought Minolta) full-frame sensor in the M11. Not mentioned was the nearly buy-in of Zeiss into a huge part of Leica shares in 2017 which didn't happen.

      Well it was basically a cheaper leica so obviously it would sell better 🤣 sometimes the companies decisions dont make sense 🤣

    No love for the Leica RE? One came with a Zeiss neuro microscope at a hospital were I worked. It was loaded with Ektachrome, mounted on the scope and never used. It was a gorgeous camera and the first Leica I ever saw.

    And the Partnership with Panasonic (Lumix) ?

    • @grainificent
      @grainificent  Рік тому +1

      @daimhaus ofcourse there is that partnership but that is in the digital photography area. I talk here about mostly film related history because this channel is only film related :) and there wouldnt be much people interested in watching a few hour long video in the case of some companies that made a ton pf different cameras :) thank you for watching! 😃

    Someone who isn't even wet behind the ears is going to tell us about Leitz history? First off you have the starting date wrong. Leitz was in the business of microscopes in the late 1800's.
