Oh wow, this takes me back, I haven't heard this song for so long, it was among my favourites. A few decades ago my vocal coach had me sing this at a concert along with the Bird Catchers Aria from Mozart's The Magic Flute, switching from Japanese with Teo Torriatte to German for the Aria. Now I have the urge to re-learn it.
Such a beautiful gesture of love and gratitude! In 1974, they first went on tour in Japan and (no joke) it was like Beatlemania- they were greeted at the airport by tons of fans, got lots of gifts, the royal welcome/treatment etc. Basically Japan was the first country to fully embrace and acknowledge Queen as the Rock Gods they still are. Queen really knows how to show love, respect and gratitude to fans. Before lockdown took place, Queen and Adam Lambert managed to perform in Asia, New Zealand and Australia branch of the rhapsody tour and Brian May sang this song while in Japan and the crowds went just as nuts as ever! While its gorgeous live, they never sang the whole song through, so definitely check out the full studio version too.
I was just trying to explain to my partner how much the Japanese fans love Queen, and I actually said it was like The Beatles going to America! They were, and still are, completely in love with Queen. I will definitely go and listen to the full studio version too, thank you 🥰
@@DoeDarling Your welcome, enjoy. Queen's first trip to Japan and their blossoming/everlasting relationship is such a beautiful story (and one of my favorites)!
When I studied Japanese at Vienna University this song was very much appreciated by me and my friends. Yoku dekimashita! Well done! Love and peace from Vienna, Austria
Beautiful gorgeous song in honor of Queen’s Japanese fans!! And I found out a few months ago that Japan actually has a QUEEN DAY. How cool is that? 👑👑 Thank you for your reactions!! 🍃🌸〰️🍃🌸 Now check out LAS PALABRAS DE AMOR a nod to the Queen fans in South America. 🍃🌺〰️🍃🌺
This is another of my favorite songs of Queen...I think it really show how much Queen loves their fans that they sing in their language. I believe they sing to the Hungarian people in their language also. Very special.
An amazing song this is the stripped down acoustic version the studio version is different and really shows off Freddie's vocal range and the layered harmonies, The March of the Black Queen was rarely played in full live you will see why when you listen to the studio version the pre-cursor to Bohemian Rhapsody
This, needless to say is divine and the song writer gracing us with him playing piano…however, the studio album version does make my hairs almost leave my arms! Please listen to that too!
Oh Also in 1980 my Highschool American football Team. Had a Record of 11 wins no defeats & gave up 0.0 points. And the song that we played was john Deacons " ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST" I honestly believe that the Bands energy Jumped off the Lp Or Albulm thats what we had. In to the whole foot ball Team inc the cheer leaders. You had to have been their Darling From 🇺🇸 Massachusetts
It’s so nice to see younger Queen fans . Queen were the first band I got hugely into aged 9 in 1984 and although I collect many other artists Queen are still my favourite. Check out Ryan Newton on UA-cam . He uploads some amazing concerts . Vienna June 13th 82 being a particular highlight . My personal favourite period live . My walls used to be plastered floor to ceiling with Queen posters when I lived at home . I always wanted a Great pretender Freddie life size cut out so I’m quite envious of your live Aid one ! Where on earth did you get that ?! Also the Japanese greatest hits vinyl is very difficult to find .
At the time that this song was released I had a Japanese Girlfriend who was besotted with Freddie and we used to sing this song together it is one of my greatest memories.
Teo torriate has been one of my favourites since about 1992. Its such a poignant song and it has a great dynamic which takes off towards the end. Its one of those that werent especially well suited for live version.
One thing I admire/love about Fred’s interactions with audiences: He adjusts how he’s addressing them, depending on where they are… At Wembley, he’s saying “F____k you!” and calling them “Crazy F__gg__ts”🤣(YT WOULDN’T let me use the word!🤭 …that was during Friday’s show, which is was “a bit less proper” in some parts than Saturday) Whereas at Budapest and anytime they were in Japan, his approach is totally different: Very conservative/respectful; “calmer” maybe. 🫶💕👑
You look awesome darling. I loved your reaction to Get Down Make Love. You are adorable. Love Freddie. Saw him 7 times in US. Love him. Sexy man. Talent for days. Yes he cried when singing Somebody to Love sometimes. It was his favorite song. Much love.
Fred's issue with this song live (they didn't do the middle 8 on this version) "When I'm Gone" etc Queen always played Japan at the end of a tour i.e. 1979 April/May 1979 on the Live Killers tour and his voice was normally gone which is a shame.
He still put on a performance everyone enjoyed Its such a shame they didnt space themselves properly By then they literally only had a hand full of months over years Freddie said in the tour interview that they have to have a proper brake after the tour But they went straight to the studio to record the game ! But took a brake after two months and finished it early 1980
Teo torriatte konomama iko Aisuruhito yo Shizukana yoi ni Hikario tomoshi Itoshiki oshieo idaki 手をとりあってこのまま行こう 愛する人よ 静かな宵に 光をともし 愛しき教えを抱き Let us cling together as the years go by,Oh my love, my love,In the quiet of the nightLet our candles always burn,Let us never lose the lessons we have learned. The lyrics with the same meaning were sung in English and Japanese.
Doe I was a freshman in High school 1973 When Queen just took off like a late freight train. And Freddie said let's show people how us British " KNOW HOW TO R & R" I graduated in 1978 listen to real musicians playing real Instruments. With perfect practice makes perfect performances. Those were the day's Darling! From Massachusetts with ❤
You might not know this, but one of the reasons Freddie got the audience to sing along was because he wasn't the best at remembering lyrics! If you look at the Budapest tour video you'll see he wrote the lyrics for the folk song on his hand. That's not a dig, by the way, as i have been a fan of Queen since forever.
Check out Angelina Jordan singing Bohemian Rhapsody. She was 13 when she did this. She is the best singer on the planet, and you will bring subscribers who follow Angelina will enjoy your reaction for sure. Best wishes
Your doing it again, talking about Freddie when you mean Queen, in Freddie's own words 'I am not the leader of Queen, I am just the lead singer'. This was Brian's gift to the Japanese fans, Freddie's can be found on the Barcelona album called 'La Japoinaise'.
Oh my gosh I just heard they played this at the opening ceremony at the Olympics in Tokyo!!!
@Richard Bennett no I'll have to check that out thanks!😃
Yes, I was so happy, Japan loves Queen from the start and forever. La Japoinaise from Barcelona album is so beautiful, it ´s Freddie ´s gift for them
Yes! I started screaming when I heard it xd

There’s some amazing low guitar orchestration on the studio version of this song.

Such a lovely song to their Japanese fans
Freddie always appreciated we Japanese accepting him as he was. This was a wonderful gift to us who had hard time memorizing English words. 😢
Teo torriate has been one of my favourites since about 1992. Its such a poignant song and it has a great dynamic which takes off towards the end. Its one of those that werent especially well suited for live version.

yeah either studio or Brian's live version in Tokyo 2014. His voice suits the song so well, he sounds so haunting!
Freddie was struggling during this performance, so not his best unfortunately. Of course, a Queen audience could always cover.
You’re beautiful.
