I hope you're doing well! I just got back from the most amazing seaside vacation, truly it was everything I could have dreamed of and more. So in today's video I wanted to take you along with me through my 6am summer morning routine at our quaint beach cottage. It consists of waking up with the sun, going for a morning bike ride and swim, eating my favorite blueberry breakfast bowl while watching The Summer I Turned Pretty and dancing on the porch with my love. I can't emphasize enough though that this is a vacation morning routine. This is not what my every day looks like back home. Please remember that as you watch 💗

I dont live in a beach cottage, but I do live 5 minutes away from the beach and its honestly so wonderful here even in winter- even snow on the sand is pretty

Your videos are truly a source of confort for me, thank you so much for showing us that joy can be found in every moment of our days, even the most common and simplest ones. Such a beautiful video! Where the Crawdads Sing is a new favorite for me as well. When my daughter was little, she would often say the sun is sizzling when the cicadas make noise. It made sense. Lol! They love the heat of the sun. What a beautiful trip to capture in such a stunning way!
Desi, I usually click on your videos the instant they download but I was right in the middle of a medical crisis with my mom and I wanted to wait until I had the time to enjoy it. When I finally had a moment to sit and watch, I can’t tell you how much peace and joy your video brought to me when I needed it the most. I was in tears by the end because it was such a beautiful, honest representation of what a sweet, romantic soul that you have and that you so unselfishly share with the rest of us. Ahhh it’s finally here!! I was looking at your IG stories today and so sorry it took you long to upload the video. But know that I suuuuper duper love it!! I’m usually not a summer person (i prefer autumn 😁) but seeing the joy in your face and how you make the most out of the season makes me incredibly happy! It definitely reminded me of The Summer I Turned Pretty! I watched it earlier in July and I’m going to binge-watch it again 😊 I wonder if you had the chance to see them filming for S2? Hoho. I think we almost did see them! One of the beaches we went to had signs along the road saying to "expect delays due to filming" the next day...and it was close to where some of the scenes from S1 were filmed. It seems we may have missed them by a day! 😅

I love the paragraph in the end. It allows us the audience to know you aren't perfect and are only human with human problems like us. Thank you so much for posting this! My husband and I just moved to Wilmington from Pennsylvania. All the moving stuff (documents, car, storage pods, Uhaul, etc.) has been so stressful that he frequently reminds me to log out of work and enjoy the beach. I'm a reporter and writer. I had a week full of murders and deadly car crashes. Then I found out three people I love were hospitalized. It hit me so hard. I logged out and into UA-cam to find your beautiful aesthetically pleasing video. I got less than 10 seconds in and remembered, "life is short, so is summer, I should go to the beach." One book later (I just read True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle for the first time), a bag of shells, a bicycle ride, a picnic, kite flying, watching the surfers, swimming, chatting with the fisherman (Kure beach pier) and I felt better. I came home and have watched a little bit of this over a few days (literally 30 seconds, then blast music or an audiobook while I unpack, write, or head back to the beach). It puts me in such a better mental place. Thank you. I hope you loved Wilmington, thanks for reminding me why I moved here
agh the ending made me tear up a little. I live in this idyllic landscape, up in the mountains, but my life never looks like the videos I see of people in my country or living in a similar place. I'm trying to learn to look at the beauty in everyday life. I know, and have always known, that those aren't entirely real, but seeing one after another does start to slip into your mind. Those thoughts of "I should have that. I could be there, so why aren't I?".

As a NC native, I am so glad you enjoyed our beaches! They tend to be less touristy (except for Wilmington, of course!), so you are able to actually enjoy the beach for, well, the beach!! If you decide to come back to visit NC again, consider our mountains. They are breath taking as well! We are truly blessed here to have access to so many different settings and types of nature that is relatively easily accessible.

This video was such a treasure today. Some months ago, my husband and I moved temporarily to a very warm and beachy place. For the first while it was a dream, but after the same thing each and every day I've found it hard to get excited about getting outside and enjoying it. This helped me reignite that little flame and get excited for summer again while it lasts. (absolutely cannot WAIT for the autumn content though!)
