  • Dasheen Bush Bhagi is one of those comfort foods that I ate weekly as a child. It's delicious with dhal and rice or even with some curried shrimp on the side. I remember my Ajee would say "ah make dhal, bhat and bhagi, yuh coming for some?" This dish takes me all the way back to my childhood days in Trinidad & Tobago.
    I have to say thanks to Dasheen Bush by K&I for all this dasheen bush! They are avid viewers of the channel, so I dedicate this video to them.
    Ingredients:
    -12-20 young dasheen bush/taro leaves with stems
    -10 cloves of garlic, minced
    -hot pepper (your preference)
    -1 onion, diced
    -salt (your preference)
    -4-6 chadon beni/bandhania leaves, chopped finely
    Optional ingredients: coconut milk, ochroes/okra
    Use a dhal ghutney, swizzle stick, immersion blender, or the back of your spoon to smoothen the texture of the bhagi.
    1 teaspoon or more of baking POWDER OR 1/4 teaspoon or more of baking SODA can be added to the mature/hard leaves to soften it.
