    There are AC adapters with adjustable voltages and aren't too expensive, and it can change between 3v, 4.5v, and 6v, which would be 2, 3, and 4 batteries. You can also change out the connector. What I do is just the micro-USB connector, and then solder a micro-USB female connector to the battery terminal of the device, and then I can just plug the wall adapter into it and it'll work.

    A genius of an idea. So simple yet so well applied. The dummy batteries supplied are just the electrical connection. The first cell is just completing the circuit. The second one with the strip is connecting plus and minus with those of the eliminator with an insulator surface in between. Great.

    Yea Todd. Luv your video. I'm 83, a computer technician, and you helped me immensely because I have a Roku device that keeps eating AAA batteries since I watch tv about 7 hours a day now. Lennick doesn't show AAA but because of you I found Gersen that makes one.. You are top notch presenter. I love way you speak. You don't race your sentances like lot of tech people. I like you better than Carey Holzman, vblogs, who has great sense of humor, but drinks coke all the time. Very distracting.

    So does the power supply need to be slightly higher than the required voltage. You need 3 Volts but it's 3.3 voltage adapter. Will just a 3 voltage adapter work just as well or does start losing power through the wire? What happens if it only requires 3 volts but the adapter is 6 volts does it fry the circuitry? I think I'm going to need the thing you just showed because drilling a hole in it will definitely affect it. It's a battery powered wet/dry razor. I go through batteries like a madman. I have a chargeable Norelco the 3 little round head type but I get a much better shave with the Braun signal foil razor. Don't know why but it's always been that way. A drilled hole would ruin the waterproofing. I'll see if you followed this one with a hard wiring video, of course that still leaves me with the same problem. I'm horrible with electronics.

    Do you have a video regarding changing out the batteries to wall power for an electric recliner, couch and love seat? My batteries do not last long at all and are very expensive to replace. Plus, they take about 9 hours to fully charge. We did not realize this when we bought the set of expensive sofas and recliner which are indeed a real problem if the battery dies when you are sitting back in the recliner or sofa and can't get out of the darn thing because the battery died. Thanks.

  • @keithp6056
    @keithp6056 3 роки тому +2

    I love having this option, but is there a less expensive route? Using your own AC adapter by connecting it to the terminals inside the battery compartment would work, but would that be any less expensive? I imagine the ac adapter would be $5-10 at least and then getting that ribbon like cord would also cost at least 5. So do you think there is any savings? Only thing that might be a big saver is if you can daisy chain something together, like flameless candles. I'd really love to be able to do that.

  • @wiegerengbrenghof5945
    @wiegerengbrenghof5945 Рік тому

    In most cases this will work indeed. However in some cases, devices use batteries by design because electricity coming from AC to DC conversion will make the device not work properly. The AC/DC conversion is never that clean compared to a pure battery, some left over of the changing voltage will be in the low voltage and on top of that, the wires might act as an antenna and pick up signals that might interfere with the electronics in the device.

    I was thinking about doing something like this with one of those little portable bluetooth speakers, but I'm worried about amps. The current battery is a 3.7v 2400(ish)milli amp. The 3.7v wall adapter I have is something like 2-4 amps.

      You should try to match the amps as close as possible. Yes it will work with larger amps. BUT any unused amps are converted to heat. Which could cause fire, or early blown parts due to overheating.
      You notice he says at the end 'I noticed it's alot brighter as well' this is the additional amperage.

    Todd: Do you know what "class" wall wart/ac adapter that unit is? Ideally class V or VI (dunno if there is a class VII yet) because they are supposed to be very efficient ~95% (under certain conditions). If the unit is taking only fractions of a watt if the powered device is OFF,
    that's ideal. The older wall warts were terrible, but some govmint standards changed that over time. The manufacturers don't make it easy to read the specs on the case. You kind need your reading glasses and a bright light. Thanks in advance! Cal
