I am finally in the ‘I passed but am still watching’ crew. The best advice I can give is to remember that the examiner is a person, and they’re at work! They’ve seen people all day every day and in the least rude way possible, you’re not special! It’s not a test, it’s a check to see if you’re safe to be out on your own. If you’re not safe, you don’t want to pass! You don’t wanna be out there on your own if you’re gonna hurt yourself or someone else. Stay as calm as you can, as soon as you meet the examiner you’ll start to feel better. Deep breaths, you’ll get there!! Try not to think about all the reasons you want to pass and instead think about where you’re gonna drive. Think ‘dot to dot’ one thing at a time!! Good luck!
I just had my test today and passed with 4 minors, watched your video the night before to get these tips, and it worked. I chatted to my examiner the entire time making it look like I was composed. Luv my bro.
Just passed my 2nd Attempt with 0 Fault's ❤ Thankyou for your valuable advice Josh, i literally followed everyone of them specially commentary driving. I think it was the key to my pass today.
Having now taken my test, I'd agree that giving a good general impression is paramount. I'm not sure that I'd advocate putting on a suit (I passed in jeans and a T-shirt), but favourably impressing the examiner goes a long way. I passed with 5 minors, but a couple of them could easily have turned into serious faults if the examiner hadn't been satisfied with my overall standard of driving. Keeping a generally calm demeanour (regardless of whether you're feeling calm on the day), keeping up a steady patter (without taking your eyes off the road), taking your time and not being impatient, and most importantly staying cool and not getting obviously stressed or frustrated (and not calling other drivers dickheads even if they do stop on the dual carriageway with hazards on and then move off as soon as you start nosing out causing you to have to stop and come within a hair's breadth of failing for obstructing traffic on your right) helps a lot. (To be honest I think being considerably older than the average learner helped as well. No offence to the young'uns, but I reckon it's a lot easier to convince the examiner that you're not a boy racer at 48 than it is at 17.) I even went so far as to download the manual for my instructor's car to make sure I knew exactly where all the "show me" controls were ... then of course he asks me to open the window, even I can figure that out! Answered the "tell me" question off pat, congratulated myself for not looking like a numpty at the outset, then nearly hit the post on the way out of the test centre carpark. You win some, you lose some.
I'm in my 40s too and I think that will help me out a lot! I'm way more relaxed than I was in my 20s and life has taught me to keep a clear head and be patient. Congratulations on passing your test 🎉🎉🎉

I passed my driving teat first time . Plenty of driving practice is needed and a good working knowledge of the highway code is key. Treat the examiner as a satnav . All round observations at all times and don't forget mirror signal manoeuvre . You should be ok to pass you're driving test .

Passed with four minors first time only had 15 lessons , the driving examiner was a lovely guy .. wasn't stressed or nervous at all and neither was I 😂
I am happy to announce that I have passed my test today, on my first attempt with 7 minors. Your UA-cam content really helped me prepare for my test. Thank you so much Josh Now I can join the “passed but still watching” gang 😂
great video, lighthearted and easy concepts to grasp before my test tomorrow. nice editing too 😌 i’m actually not nervous for my test. hopefully those nerves don’t come on strong tomorrow
Just want to say a MASSIVE thankyou for the videos Josh, this video and the examiner tips video helped me so much and just thought I'd quickly share the 2 pieces of advice that helped myself so hopefully it will help others. 1. It's what you said about the glass being full when you go for your test. You start with full points and it's your job not to give the examiner ANY REASON to take any of those points away from you and 2. Drive smoothly, make the journey nice and smooth for the examiner. With this advice ringing in my my ears having watched a couple of times the day before and the morning of my test I passed with 2 minors and can genuinely say your advice played a massive part so thankyou!!
Had my test today. Passed with 4 minor faults at my first attempt. I can say that you are really a good teacher. Your videos were so helpful for me. I would really recommend you. Thanks👍🏽👍🏽
I passed my 7th time with 0 minors my test lasted nearly an hour but what I learnt is if the examiner see’s your a confident driver they make you do the tricky stuff eg.. emergency stop, parallel park, when they realise your nervous they will take it easier on you. Some examiners I realised when they are comfortable with you when driving they’d be chatty if uncomfortable they don’t speak. From my experience.
Wow, you've given me some hope. I am 50 years old, and I have had a few fails , but I don't want to give up. Your message has given me the courage to keep going until I achieve my pass .
It doesn't matter whether candidate look confident or not, examiners should treat them equally. I don't mind chatting during my lessons but i found chatting is distraction during driving test. It's difficult to focus..however when a candidate is nervous in some difficult situation, an examiner should be easy on them and encourage him/her to deal with it, rather than just sit like a lemon 😩
I had a lovely examiner! Honestly didn't even notice him tapping away because i was so focussed and tbh he was brilliant and giving me a heads up when he had to change something (cancelled emergency stop due to a sudden, very rude, amount of traffic coming towards us lol) due to various issues we encountered with road works on the day. I was so flustered when he asked me my show me question, i just honestly told him that i couldn't think in that moment, and he could clearly see i was beginning to get flustered. We pulled to the left, he asked me to explain what to do, and then to carry it out after we set off. Just having someone take the time to let me breathe, knowing that it was due to the test and not my general attitude made a massive difference! I passed a few days ago with 5 minors, we had a laugh about me not agreeing with one of them, but I absolutely enjoyed the experience in hindsight and if anything the test left me more confident with my ability. ALSO. In my lesson before my test, i went to the area that me and my instructor both agreed i was the least confident with, gave me a great idea of the volume of traffic before my test and turned out that was EXACTLY where he took me (so I think the psychic part may be a little true tbh 🤣). Good luck everyone! 🎉
So i watched this a couple of days before my test, i was so nervous until i found this video, changed my entire view of the test. If you have your test booked, you are obviously ready, so have confidence and don’t forget those mirrors every change of direction and speed. i passed today with 3 minors, thanks dude
I just passed my PRACTICAL DRIVING TEST TODAY. FIRST ATTEMPT NO ERROR AT ALL. MANUAL DRIVER. CLEAN SHEET 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻 Thanks a lot for your videos. I learnt a lot from it. My driving instructor was amazing too.
Was on a lesson 3 days before my test and before going home I drove to someones house who recently passed with my instructor so they can give them a gift for teaching them. Its not always bad.
I've been driving for over 5 years, then i came to the uk and failed my first test because I was too cautious to impress the instructor, instead of driving normally and safely as always. I'll take my test friday again. This video has helped a lot to calm my nerves. Will post an update!!!
Top Man... I watched this video an hour before my test while I was nervous about the test but in the end I passed it . This video helped me a lot to understand the examiner's side. Huge respect for this guy. Keep up the good work 💯
Got my test on Wednesday. Will definitely be watching this again beforehand. I was worried about the 'show me, tell me' questions, but you've cleared that up, which helps a lot.
Got my test tommorow, hope it goes well. 8:40am start in rush hour and probably gonna go on nasty hill in the first 5 mins that has a roundabout at the top. Hopefully it goes well
Sitting my 3rd test tomorrow. I wasn’t ready when I sat my first one. I knew that before I did it. My 2nd she failed me literally around the corner from the test centre, a minute before the test ended. My instructor thought I’d passed, he was in the back seat. If I don’t pass this time I’m giving up 😂
I had a similar situatuon, i drove well for 35mins and failed in the last 5 mins nearby the test centre..i was upset as the examiner took me on the tricky road (very narrow short road/lots of parked cars on both side/often meeting situations/junction/downhill) 5 mins before end my test..normally i'm ok on that road but i had a bad luck. As soon as i turened at the down hill junction, there was a parked car on my side which blocks my view. I drove slowly down hill and was able to see an oncoming car which reached up to my car very closely so i stopped in the middle of down hill then probably i panicked and lift my clutch quickly then stalled and my car started rolling forward.. more panic..it was terrible! 😂😂😂 i never ever encountered this during my lessons so i panicked! Im not sure why the examiner took me there in the last 5 mins rather than going to the test centre and just finishing off the test as he already tested me in various areas including dual carriageway & reverse parking.
Let me keep my comment here,I got my driving test in the next 18days hopefully 🤞 I will pass because I paid times 3 of the test fee to get the test book, here in Bromley London we don’t find date easily and have to pay an extra fee so I can’t afford losing that money but hopefully 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞.
Josh the examiner said I was too slow I live in Milton Keynes but unfortunately I did it at Bedford, my next text will bit Northampton which am a bit familiar. But I hope I will pass the next one through your good ti's and advice thanks
I am polish, trying to learn how to drive. I don't drive in Poland, however I had lessons 14 years ago. Everything is different here, opposite site and so confusing andy instructor keeps talking to me and I can't concentrate on my driving, nevermind answering his questions. And then he keeps telling me to focus 🙈 like how? I am trying to learn and you forcing my brain to translate from English to polish 😂 I am so glad I found your UA-cam. Very straightforward 👍
You can get a more experienced driving instructor who is fully qualified (green badge displayed on one's car), expeienced instructors are quieter during lessons and know when is right time to talk to you. Good luck!
Update: I PASSED! I think the big thing is to keep calm and don’t think of it as a test, because it felt like a normal lesson for me. A huge help when starting off was to just speak out what you’re doing, like when I set off I was saying I’m going from second to first gotta check my clearance around parked cars etc. 😂 think that helped the examiner understand my thoughts and that I was a safe driver. Hope this helps and good luck to those with upcoming tests!
Hi, I've got my second test on Friday morning. Sadly, I failed the first time, but I only got 1 serious (and a few minors) and the serious was just something silly I could've avoided. I'm a bit nervous of course, but I'm not stressed and I think I have what it takes to pass, we'll see though D:
Same as you I failed first time nov 2022 only had 3 minors but 1 serious fault for pulling out at a busy 40mph junction, I didn't look left when pulling out and a black taxi was coming he had to slow down...got 2nd test 21st June 23 doing loads of junctions much better at observations now, good luck man I hope you pass
@@tdawg999 Thank you bro! I passed with 4 minors which really shocked me because I felt like I was driving worse than the first time. Good luck with your test, I believe in you! :)
I'm having my test tomorrow by 7.50am, my car I'm really used to developed overheating fault yesterday and unfortunately it can't be fixed before the test and it's late to change the test date. I will just go ahead with a friend's automatic car (mine is Manual). I pray I pass 🙏
I just passed my theory first time. Iv been driving a left hand drive 1972 skoda for 7 months on L plates. . . Do you reckon i could do my test in my car?
Had my test this week and never drove better, however 10 minutes in the examiner suddenly pulls the steering wheel for absolutely no reason in the most blatant and spectacular way to fail me
Well i failed after traveling 3hr Nottingham i dressed well and was super confidence as been driving years and i thought the examiner was good as he assumed i would pass as we drove aroumd pulling over many times that was it but i failed 1major..i switched lanes instead ov following sat nav it wasnt big deal they try everything go fail u
Please pass this information to other examiners or discuss this in one of your meetings. Examiners should be aware that there is an exam tension and most people get panic due to this exam tension and sometimes this make them do some silly mistakes
I beg to differ that examiners are "not our enemy", I had two examiners fail me for catch 22 situations. The first example was when I was failed for _avoiding_ a deep murky puddle; I have always been told one should avoid these if possible because there is the risk of splashing a pedestrian, hitting something the water conceals, or it could cause the car to aquaplane. I gently steered out of the way of the puddle and got myself branded "erratic". This happened right at the end of the test, 30 seconds before returning to the test centre, and it feels like the examiner was being spiteful. The most recent fail happened because of a faulty traffic light; it was a bright clear day and the sun was glinting off the red light and it genuinely seemed brighter than the green one, so I stopped, sincerely believing the light was displaying red. Before anyone asks, no, I am not colourblind. The Highway Code says one should treat broken traffic lights as one would treat an unmarked junction rather than tearing on right through as the examiner seemed to expect of me. What could I possibly have done in these two situations? It feels like either way they would have got me; damned if I do, damned if I don't.
You need to post more, your advice is really good. I feel like the exerminar should be scared of me 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 fail the exerminar for looking at that ipad 😂
I have my second test in 4 days, I failed the first one just as I didn't stop quick enough while I was reversing into a parking space and someone drove past the front of my car (ouch lol) but I have high hopes I will pass as the first test taught me a lot :D
Hi sir i just want to know how long or maximum time we can take during test for complete any menovur like parking, pull up to the left ,,,,or merging into a crossroads

No offence to the young'uns, but I reckon it's a lot easier to convince the examiner that you're not a boy racer at 48 than it is at 17.)

Got my test tommorow, hope it goes well. 8:40am start in rush hour and probably gonna go on nasty hill in the first 5 mins that has a roundabout at the top. Hopefully it goes well
You will be fine Arkham just treat it like a normal lesson and do your best
How was it
did you passed?
Sorted! 😅 Passed first time in Newcastle test centre 🎉 thank you Josh for your videos ❤
Great job my friend
So helpful! Thanks :)
Have my second test in 2 days and my instructor has not shown up. So thankful for your knowledge and guidance!
Very cool !
that's very bad...
I have my 2nd test in two weeks my first test went really well but I had two silly mistakes that failed me hoping this time around I will pass.
Love your energy
@@yvonneberryman7453 thanks my friend. It's easy to have energy when you love what you do 😁
Got my 1st test tomorrow, thankyou for posting these videos.
Good luck 🤞🙂
@@JoshRamwell Thankyou 😊
did you pass?!
@@tommarshall5979 Yes 1st time 3 minors 🙂 I definitely recommend watching his videos xx
I passed my first car driving test about 4 weeks ago with 0 faults
Let me keep my comment here,I got my driving test in the next 18days hopefully 🤞 I will pass because I paid times 3 of the test fee to get the test book, here in Bromley London we don’t find date easily and have to pay an extra fee so I can’t afford losing that money but hopefully 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞.
Josh the examiner said I was too slow I live in Milton Keynes but unfortunately I did it at Bedford, my next text will bit Northampton which am a bit familiar. But I hope I will pass the next one through your good ti's and advice thanks
Good try Kofi
Good luck!
Wow you made me feel alot better I am calm for the day ahead and you confirmed its a good thing!
This actually was really helpful! Thank you 🙏🏼
Thanks mate. This was gold 😊
I’ve got my driving test tomorrow morning and I’m excited but soooo nervous.
I'm a bit nervous of course, but I'm not stressed and I think I have what it takes to pass, we'll see though D:
i have my test friday morning! (tomorrow) at 9am, good luck :-)
@@rosiehodgson6168 You too!
Similar to you, I have my second attempt tomorrow. Very nervous!
Remember in a test whatever happens happens and just relax that's all I did .. that's my only tip.
You are so engaging! I will pass my test . Yes l will💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼
New subscriber 👋🏾 Watching this in 2024 my test is in 3 days ! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Brilliant Josh!
I'm having my test tomorrow by 7.50am, my car I'm really used to developed overheating fault yesterday and unfortunately it can't be fixed before the test and it's late to change the test date. I will just go ahead with a friend's automatic car (mine is Manual). I pray I pass 🙏

Got my test tuesday hope it goes well.plz pray for me....
Good luck🤞
thanks this was helpful:)
Excellent video. Everything he says is relevant
Got my test in 2 weeks at a town I’m not familiar with 🙏
Get your self there and do a bit of practice and good luck🙌🤞
Got my test in roughly 11 hours🤞praying for easy show me tell me questions and manoeuvre
Great vid - I'll be showing the video my son . Tfs
You are welcome
Please pass this information to other examiners or discuss this in one of your meetings.
Examiners should be aware that there is an exam tension and most people get panic due to this exam tension and sometimes this make them do some silly mistakes
Got my test 1st march very confident
That's brilliant! Confidence is often half the battle.😁
Great tips and great energy
fantastic, thank you.
My test will be in 3 days. I hope will not fail this time. Thats my 3 th time. I hope your tips will help me.
Did you pass?
Wow sir nice point😊
You need to post more, your advice is really good. I feel like the exerminar should be scared of me 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 fail the exerminar for looking at that ipad 😂
I have my second test in 4 days, I failed the first one just as I didn't stop quick enough while I was reversing into a parking space and someone drove past the front of my car (ouch lol) but I have high hopes I will pass as the first test taught me a lot :D
Wow👍 thanks for your tips
Hi sir i just want to know how long or maximum time we can take during test for complete any menovur like parking, pull up to the left ,,,,or merging into a crossroads
Got my test Tomorrow really nervous.
