This really taints my love of Disney classics. Did you know that they didn't even have enough respect for him to call him and tell him he had been dropped. No, they waited until he showed up at Disney's studio and then refused him entry with hardly any explanation. Can you imagine? That's horrible.
@@roderickgful You'd be surprised what went on back then, apparently. Hollywood mouthed a lot of moral upright platitudes back then (just like a lot of people in MAGA do today), but a lot of the same people didn't live up to them.
Oh NO, Sweet Pete is the name of the villain in the new chip n dale….. this shows that it definitely wasn’t an accident or coincidence, THEY MOCKED HIM
I'm very sorry Bobby Driscoll passed away from heart failure.. he was a very sad young man. But, I'm sure he's much happier, now, being with the Lord & to be able to Rest & Find Everlasting Peace & Love. Rest Forever in the Lord, Dear Bobby!
It's really sad how Bobby's life turned out, in such a short time. He died alone. I hope that he rests in peace for all time, he will always be our original Peter Pan. Rest in peace Bobby! You will never be forgotten! 🙏🕊️
He’ll always be Peter Pan for so many of us who are Disney children. Bobby was the first boy to actually play the character since Peter Pan was usually a trouser role for women (when women play male characters). It’s truly sad that Bobby’s life fell apart as he was growing older. He really could’ve been even greater had he been given the chance. Drugs are a terrible vice & took a talented young man from the world
I really liked Bobby Driscoll's acting... even being himself, on/ off screen. Even if he never had any more major roles in Disney or any other studio, I still liked him. I hope he found another job, elsewhere after he turned 16.
He did. He found numerous roles on television and even made a couple more movies, remaining a working actor until his early 20s. The quality of his work remains undiminished in these later appearances, but in 1961 he served a brief prison term, which made it impossible for him to find any more acting jobs.
Never would have thought of looking for information on this on my own. That's why I love this channel so much, the stories you pick for us are like small hidden treasures
You didn’t mention his wife Marilyn or his three children. Bobby and Marilyn divorced in 1960. Marilyn suffered from schizophrenia and died in 2000. His daughter Aaren Hope died of cancer last year. His son Daniel, a retired pediatrician, and his daughter Katherine are still alive. It was so horrible what happened to Bobby. I pray that Bobby, Marilyn, and Aaren are together and at peace.
Great documentary. So awful what happened to him! He had such talent and was a good child actor. Disney child actors don't fare well many times, neither do others in Hollywood.
@@STYNET You're very welcome - your voice is good for doing these types of videos because it's very even in pace and pitch, but you also have a good amount of emotion in your voice so it doesn't sound monotone. A lot of times that's hard to achieve in just audio. Yes, you're right. It is very hard for child stars, especially former Disney ones, to break free of the stigma. and a lot of times they go to the extreme to prove they aren't a child anymore. Best examples I can think of in recent times are Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus
@@STYNET I'm not sure that it's as true today. Bobby Driscoll was one of the kids who were on the cutting edge of child acting in Hollywood, so people hadn't yet dealt with the realities of what it means to be a child star. The bottom line is that being a kid is different from being an adult. You can be a cute kid, but end up not being as cute when you're an adult. You can have a good singing voice as a kid, but even if you still have one as an adult, if you're a boy it's still going to be a different singing voice. And in those days, no one had even tried to map out how to transition from one to the other, and the people in charge in Hollywood hadn't, for the most part, faced up to the fact that they had a moral responsibility to aid this process. Kurt Russell comes to mind as a more recent Disney child star who went on to become a very successful adult actor, so it can be done.
i regret watching it but i felt betrayed when i found out about the real peter pan. not only disney direspects bobby but stealing some fan art from deviantart. there is an easter egg of sora's hair that looks fan art. and not entirely from nomura's art work. some people who watched the movie and examine that sora's hair is fan art disney probably went to google and down some piece of sora fan art and put it in the film without the original fan artist's permission.
How interesting! Any commercials still exist today? I'd love to watch!!! Maybe it's a good thing your Mother pulled you out though, considering how the industry exploits children and all.
I had a teacher named. Mrs .Driscoll in middle school 25 years ago at the R.G Shaw in west Roxbury, Ma... i wonder if they are related. Never knew her first name but will soon after searching my yearbook now that i know this story
What's the big deal with James Dean's death? He was a young guy in a fast car who killed some poor woman because he was going like 155. If anything, we should remember that woman, not some young rich jackass who killed her due to negligence

Disney now proselytizes youth with its increasingly woke programming. A far cry from the innocence of its wonderful world of the early days😢

I guess my mother had a very good reason for pulling me out of Hollywood.
"At peace" rather than "happier"
is probably a better fit.

Damn and we talk about the Miley Cyrus’s and Bella thrones of Disney. But this kid was the OG
Thanks so much for creating this documentary on Bobby! Very well done!

One did fare well Richard Percy "Dickie" Jones graduated to adult characters
This is so tragic :(
It’s worth reading more into it mate, I covered as much as I possibly could but there’s even things I had to leave out
I don't know if they still have Tootsie Roll Commercials today, but, when I did some, it was back in 1968.

"Have you ever heard of Peter Pan"? Really? Love the postage stamp size presentation.
