Things Doctor Who taught me to fear: mannequins, gas masks, water, shadows, statues....
Repeating words which other people said...
For real bro
Dolls and dolls houses
Everything....? Cause me too
Don't forget about the noise of clocks ticking in the dark!

Richard Wilson was fantastic...
...and so was Christopher Eccleston.
I don’t believe it...

😂
I was terrified by just the "Are you my mummy?" craze, it was even more horrifying when you see the transformation as a child.
I was 4 when I first saw it and had nightmares up to 7 years later 😳
I remember being terrified of this episode and a few years after the episode I went to a war museum somewhere with my dad (I can’t remember exactly where bc I was young at the time) and they had mannequins wearing old ww2 uniforms with gas masks. That terrified me
Indeed.
i distinctly remember it was the day my parents got married, and i was sleeping at my nan's and this scene was playing in my head and i was literally crapping myself!
Still remains my favourite dr who episide/episodes ever
"Then what was the cause of death?"
"There wasnt one. They're. Not. Dead."
Oh boy I got the chills
- *before this wat began i was a father and a grandfather, but now I'm neither... but I am still a doctor*
- *yeah I know the feeling*
breaks my heart everytime
"before this wat" lmao

The FIRST time Doctor Who gave me nightmares
Oof, mine was from the weeping angels... Had nightmares about statues for a week... I’m fine with em now lol.
@@Tensolin01 yeah....I mean, it's all relative to who you saw first.😊 that said, I am GREATLY paranoid about every statue I pass by now
5 year old me was very scared by this
Brent Dreher Very true. The mask filter pushing out of the guys mouth is probably the most horrifying part about this tbh and the eyes I guess.
@@Tensolin01 I still don't blink in graveyards lol
First time watching this as a child was traumatising.
God yeah
Ik tight
I meant right
I didn't find it traumatising just really scary
It's been fifteen years, and the effects for Dr. Constantine's transformation still look as incredible and terrifying as they did back in 2005.
After 15 years, I finally noticed that Dr Constantine's "sunken eyes" were heavier for someone of his age.
It's a subtle hint that indicated he was also in the process of turning before The Doctor talked to him.
Wow that’s a great detail never noticed that!
Poor Dr. Constantine...
@@patchworkfellowHe survived and reverted
The scar on his hand as well
The first Doctor Who moment that truly scared the hell out of me, back in 2005. 😱

Lu1z 4 3v3r And the voices She did fight in the time war, it is in an audio book, I haven’t seen it tho
@@L1z43vr She was fine, but remember this is the 9th Doctor, he thought he destroyed the time lords.
I absolutely love this scene. It's terrifying.
I'm still in love with this scene, the transformation is stunning, even with todays technology, the plot is terryfing, and the actings are just perfect, from both doctors '''Before the war i was a father and a grandfather, now i'm neither, but still a doctor''' ''yeah, i know the feeling''' this writting, such a master piece, this was the season i was introduced to DW, for me, every episode this season have is amazing, and this clips is prove of that to me.
The star of one of the most loved Situation Comedies of all time. Richard Wilson. From 'One Foot in the Grave.' What a legend.
I don't believe it, he says
He did a brilliant travelog of car journeys around the UK. In Whitby a group of goths helped him get to the top of the hill.
@@cdname47#fatherted #realonesknow
Chris was an amazing doctor. I would have loved to see him in more seasons but only the one season we got, it was fantastic. Also, the scariest thing about this was that they weren't even dead
Like how you used the word "fantastic" xD
After my sister watched this (this scene freaked her out), my dad went out when she was asleep and got his mask, tapped on her window and said "are you my mummy?" She screamed so much my dad couldn't stop crying with laughter XD.
Are. You. Joking? How old was she?
Wow ur dad lowkey sounds horrible

Shoutout to all the Brits left in need of therapy after watching this one for the 1st time
“One shudders to imagine what inhuman thoughts lie behind that mask. What dreams of chronic and sustained cruelty”
Doctor Who predicted the Coronavirus all along.
Haha funny
1:05 - when someone says dessert
Ice cream?!
Seeing this for the 1st time at 8 yrs old was terrifying and I fell in love with this show 👏
I was only 8 when this aired so this was quite terrifying!
I love that its not even that complicated of a monster design, its just a gas mask, yet they still work so well in the scares department
This scene is still goddamn terrifying! The line delivery and acting, the body horror - this is so visceral and nightmarish. Props to the DW team for creating something that haunted the nightmares of a generation of kids.
This Is the most disturbing scene I've ever seen in doctor who
No. You are wrong.
@@BillyBob-jy1gv how can my own opinion be wrong mmmm
@@casmartle it's right if it's an opinion that involves a subjective fact about a personal feeling.
I love how the doctor was just standing there when he was transforming.
This episode still sends shivers down my spine
This transformations were cutted from the german TV-screenings. On DVD it's luckily in. :-)
They are borderline Not Safe For Kids haha
Damals vielleicht, jetzt ist es aber zu sehen.
You were very lucky not to have this trauma in your childhood
Those lucky ducks
I swear they had the whole Merlin cast in this series
Pretty much. I’ve been rewatching the modern series and I didn’t realise how many familiar faces there are from merlin and many other bbc shows from the time
I'm not the only one!!
Colin Morgan (plays Merlin), Anthony Head (Mr Finch, the Krillitane), Richard Wilson (Gaius, or Dr Constantine)
This is the BBC, where we have 20 actors available.
@@rickyt8131 Angel Coulby turned up briefly in The Girl in the Fireplace
When he transforms, the only thing that freaked me out as a child in this scene were his eyes. Creepy!!
Doctor: They have just been left here?!!
Old persons home worker: Yes, they have
(Old persons homes are being left and the people are dying there)
when you've been watching Merlin all day and suddenly Gaius is EVERYWHERE
We'll, that's one way to get everyone to wear a mask during the current COVID crisis.
This literally gave me nightmares when I was a child.
Such a great scene
i remember watching this episode and thinking it was the scariest one in the show
2:09 lmao *literal* bombshell!
How to give a young child nightmares in 3 minutes and 17 seconds.
What you should do if you see him is run up to him and say his catchphrase
He would love that...bet no one ever does that to him.
Yay we get to see the terrifying gas mask zombie transformation...in HIGH DEFINITION!
Back when this was filmed: Are you my mummy
2020: r u my mommy
Doctor : the cause of death ?
Richard Wilson: there wasn’t one!
Doctor: I don’t believe it!!
Richard Wilson: hey that’s my line!!
I don't believe it... Richard Wilson in Doctor Who, how could I have forgotten this?
tbf he was only in this one scene
FeaR_CheetaH He was also in the end of the episode after the people got changed back.
I wish Doctor Who was still this terrifying
Joecake Gamedev just well written would do for me but it doesn’t get better than this
Why? This isn’t a good episode and I would watch anything from Series 11 or 12 than this two parter again
@@justsomerandomguyonline1144 I disagree it's one of the most memorable episodes, and that doesn't mean good new episodes can't be scary too
It is terrifying. Terrifyingly bad
2:38 So called medic mains when a spy backstabs them once
Until I saw the weeping angels, I his was the only doctor who villain that truly scared me - I already found gas masks creepy
Truly one of the scariest epsiodes of New Who. I still can't watch this by myself at night. Or just by myself. When they sit up it scares the magic out of me everytime
Rewatched this whole season on Netflix this week, this still scared me nearly as much as it did when I was 5 😂😭 iconic
The fact that you were 5 scared me! I was 27! _[to self]:Don't do the maths! Don't do the maths!_
ObiWan Kenobi oh really? Had no idea, I have the iplayer aswell oof
Kryojenix damn yeah, I couldn’t even watch the 3rd episode properly lol with the zombies, I collected the DVD files and the case for that episode is so much cleaner then the others 😂
When doctor who was actually good before season 12
It was on a downhill run way before series 12, mate.
This episode haunts my dreams
Yay 5 likes
I feel so sorry for the older man in that scene....
I couldn’t even watch this scene when I was little.
This was my worst nightmare when i was a kid
Trauma for years because of this episode.
Now though it's on of my favourite stories of them all.
What I learned from watching doctor who:
- Bring a gun everywhere
- Fear clock, gas masks, dolls, mannequins
- Never piss about with a eight year old
"This entire hospital has been overrun by Snifits from the Koopa troop! Phone those plumbers in Brooklyn, they'll know what to do!"
i do like gas masks but Jesus that's some really creepy stuff if i ever seen one
I love these older episodes
The best of the Ninth Doctor by far.
Kinda looked like a Combine Soldier from Half Life 2 for a second
Me, an intellectual: Pyro TF2.
I think this has to be the most creepiest thing i have seen in doctor who. 😳😳😳
Yup, needed new trousers after watching this scene back in the day.
This and the other part are one of the best doctor who episodes EVER

The backstory of the pyro.
Scariest scene ever
this scene terrified me as a kid about 12 years ago and I still remember it, god damn, what a show.
Arguably one of the creepiest scenes in all of Who....
This Doctor deserved more seasons.
Why the old clips? And what about the doctor:s daughter?
Ayy Gaius!
I miss this doctor and rose tyler, i started watching doctor Who from "Rose"
Am I the only one who squirmed in their seats the first time they saw the transformation.
yes
this and the clockwork renaissance mannequins were the only ones that proper scared me lol
If this isn't the scariest episode then the water on mars is, that episode made me cry, fr
Still gives me shivers.
Doctor Who is the most underrated horror serie
so called "medic mains" when enemy team has 3 spies
No, Gaius!
this scene is so cool
This always scared me when I was little.
So, this is what spy sees in his nightmares.
I was pretty little when this episode aired, now I get PTSD everytime I see a gas mask, thanks DW.
Meet the Pyro.
*cue TF2 sting*
The only way to watch this episode is on either The ORIGINAL Series 1 Box set, The Series 1 Disc 3 set, or original TV Broadcast, it’s the only way to watch this scene with the bone cracking SFX
0:01 its necessary
Who else used to skip this bit on the DVDs?
"doctor who isnt scary"
doctor who:

Das Gaius from merlin! I remember him!
Hello Doctor Who
i have been a doctor who fan ever since i was about 4 years old
They had to edit this scene for the TV version because the cracking sound of the rubber was too frightening for TV. You can also hear the labored gas mask breathing better in this version (DVD version). Jesus, such a brilliant bit of body horror!
This is actually the censored version. In the Blu-Ray release they restored the sound effects of his skull cracking open. The BCC forced the producers to remove the sounds before the live broadcast.
Anyone have the uncensored version on UA-cam?
