Just had a radar run last weekend. Some guy showed up on some hypo high boost Yamaha...166 on radar. 2000’ run, but...166 jeezus. He started off nice and easy, heard the turbo spool...and gone like he was shot from a slingshot. Crazy how fast these things go!
It's quite obvious that it is sped up...look at how quickly his arms move at the end of the video. It's impossible to change direction of the movement of your arms so quickly.
I ride a sport bike capable 0 to 60 in 3 sec and a 10 second 1/4 mile at about 136 mph (I say the bike is capable, not me). That much pull is just beyond the ability of most people to grasp, it is harder than a passenger jet pulls, it still feels unreal each time I hit it. But what these snow mobiles do is beyond my grasp. Even some stock sleds eclipse my bike, though I have never driven one. I got it all over them on fuel mileage though!
If I ever get the chance I would love to take a modern sled for a little run, you don't have to sample everything a machine has to offer to appreciate how much you are leaving on the table. I have owned my ZX9R (2003 last model) for nearly 10 years now and last month I let the first other person ride it making him only the 3rd on this bike since new, he had recently graduated from a 250cc Rebel to an 1100cc cruiser and was quite thrilled.
4.56 in the 1/8th translates to a low 7 second quarter mile pass, that is not that hard to believe given the incredible power the weight ratio, wicked traction, and low drag. As a regular at the drag strip for decades watching cars perform at these kinds of acceleration levels it is no surprise to me. I have watched and taken money from guys who have had the same kind of attitude about cars going faster than sport bikes on the street, I love when I hear "it's just not possible bro what are you retarded?" You can't fix stupid, But you can take their money! :D
I'm too young to drive a sport bike. Also I don't have a death wish. But yeah, sleds are fast. Even my mountain sled is capable of pretty insane acceleration despite the longer track
All these trolls on here thinkin this is sped up have zero idea what its like to go 156 mph on a sled. Not sayin I do, but I've 113 in 1000' and life went by REAL quick!!
I rode a Yamaha V Max 750 the year they came out, I think 92 and thought it was insane fast, but this sled is nosebleed. Awesome fast. That is 2 stroke power mastered for sure. Wow!! Thanks for the ride.
You need to see one of these turbo monsters go down the track in person. Once you watch these at haydays or any other race they make all other machines appear to be standing still. Watch these then the 800 class and the 800's will look like they are in slow motion. It's like they are shot out of a cannon.
Video real or not, I rode a highly modified sled with nitrous and a turbo in Michigan. It belonged to a friend that raced. I took it for a spin, stood it up on end at 60 mph and it was the most terrifying thing I've ridden. I hit 130 and was scared to death. 5 minutes later I came back with snot sickles all over my face. It looked every bit as fast as this.
This is one of the few times where I've said this and actually meant it: cool story, bro. I've never ridden a sled with over 150hp, so I can't even imagine what some of these with 300+ feel like, let alone 600 like the one in this video.
I've seen alot of races in my days, including funny cars in drag races. Honestly, all those races, especially supercross excites me. This thing here? this scared the shit of me. Can't believe you were able to hold on to handlebars. Im barely able to hold on my Yz250f when im learning how to pop wheelies, i get nothing but fat blizzers on my palms. im amazed how awesome these snowmobiles are. I gotta ask though, how come you weren't able to turn it? why did you need to get off and spin it around???
westwing23 locking the skies to prevent them from turning. Imagine the damage one ski falling off would cause at 150 plus! That's like throwing a wrench into a jet engine. Total destruction!
rywolf01 what if you have a program loaded to the ecm or whatever and you put it on "race mode" and the servos/hydro steer.. or bump stop.. idk how the snowmobile operates but if its like a dirtbike then bump stop would be best. Basically what im saying is, these bump stops going towards to your forks can be powered by servos or RC- Electic motors. That motor be powered by an emc which could go straight to the ecm or whatever computer you got and load the program. Get where im going with this? then you switch to cruise mode and the bump stops will retract to G28 home and you have full access to your steering. what you think?
With an aftermarket suspension the front of the track is actually higher than the back and when you put power to it it puts it all to the ground without flipping over backwards.
i know this may seem like a dumb question but i am new to snowmobile drag racing ...what is the popping sound right before he leaves? is it like a clutch ? or more like a trans brake? correct me if i am wrong but i think it is so he can leave at full throttle rather than waiting for boost pressure and so on?
i doubt it is sped up. ive seen a sled set up for oval racing at the world championship at eagle river, WI an all the stats on it right up close. you would be surprized at the throttle response. they can get up to 80mph from the center to the first corner.
The starter isn't too heavy but the battery itself adds about 20lbs. Thats why the mechanic pulled that big booster box out as soon as it was fired up. That holds the charge to start the motor.
these things got tracks in the back right? so i'm thinking put 2 wheels in front and synchronise them like those new 3 wheeled motorcycles, BAM streetsled ?
Thats not sped up at all...thats real time with a lot of horsepower and the perfect clutch setup... the first drag sled i built was so fast It almost left from under me but i think it scared me so bad I couldant let go...lol and it was N/A
lol the video is sped up plain and simple go watch the world record sled see if its the fast andf if there is sled that's keeps up whole way and just happens to be able to do it one handed near the end you fuckingh crazy fucker p.s im sponsored and doo hill climbs and drags
too all those who say its sped up u dnt kno shit it's the fuckin outlaw class I'm in 600 stock improved an I'm running 660 in 6.6 sec @ 105.9 mph an I got clutch work an chisels an a bit of suspension work
Old post,so sorry. But I must say, my 'Cat 600 XRT, stock improved was doing a tick over a hundred mph in the 660. That was 15 years ago, I'm quite sure most 600's are faster now.
88seanster no, they aren't. if u got a 600 to hit over 100 in 660ft u have a rare one and r an excellent tuner. triples shine in this application, the old 600 triples r the best choice if u want to run the highest speed with the lowest cc's
Thanks! I was a very good tuner (especially with primary/secondary clutch set up) Been out of the game for awhile now. I always ran triples,no twin could match me in Improved 600, and I also ran a reasonably successful 1000 ZRT in a custom chassis in Open Mod. I quit when A.C. got out of the triple game, and parts were getting brutally expensive. Did I mention that I blew up at least 1-2 600's per year? That's 3g a pop here in Northern Canada! But that's racing baby!
Triples definitely have their place in the drag racing world, but that's about it. I never got into them just because they aren't as fun to ride as a twin cuz they're nose heavy and harder to throw around. They also don't have near as much bottom end grunt, tho peak torque is about the same as a twin. Clutch setup is also quite a bit different between the 2. In the drag race world they r to b respected, I still see them at local drag races competing with 1100 turbos in open mod. 15 year old technology still competing
Of course they can be insanely quick. They must weigh next to nothing (say 150 kg?) and can put easily 300 bhp on the track and ground. I wouldn't be surprised if these numbers are even more extreme. It is not a motorcycle where the limit of power is the rubber and the lost control of the front wheel determines the max acceleration. Or a car that needs to bring 1000 kg at least, and has limited contact surface.
Anyone who even says its sped up just tells me how uneducated they actually are ...I love when people talk about something they know absolutely nothing about it's like me trying to tell a mechanic who has 40 yrs experience how to work on my car he would be laughing at me hearing the bs come out my mouth I would be making a fool out of myself
Just had a radar run last weekend. Some guy showed up on some hypo high boost Yamaha...166 on radar. 2000’ run, but...166 jeezus. He started off nice and easy, heard the turbo spool...and gone like he was shot from a slingshot. Crazy how fast these things go!
even after 3 minutes of waiting for the run...i still wasn't ready for that. Holy crap!
I can see how people think it's sped up but I've seen drag sleds and this is seriously accurate
See? Stickers do add horsepower!
They sure do!
I've witnessed this sled in person. I can promise you this is not sped up, nor has a clutch. Some people just can't accept it...
Look at his fingers... Unless he has light speed finger movement you are the village idiot.
snowmobile8003 Yeah you're a fucking idiot.
easy buddy. this is not speed up, go look at ANY outlaw videos these sleds are fast!
The video is sped up... you can tell by watching everyone move in the beginning lol
It's quite obvious that it is sped up...look at how quickly his arms move at the end of the video. It's impossible to change direction of the movement of your arms so quickly.

I ride a R1 and a 800 Polaris .....these new sleds feel just as fast as sportbikes except on snow ! you gotta try it man.
If I ever get the chance I would love to take a modern sled for a little run, you don't have to sample everything a machine has to offer to appreciate how much you are leaving on the table. I have motocross bike myself, but I gotta say riding snow mobiles is one of the must fun thing you can do
I'm too young to drive a sport bike. Also I don't have a death wish. But yeah, sleds are fast. Even my mountain sled is capable of pretty insane acceleration despite the longer track

Thank you
"4.46" is probably true, in this video it takes him about 3,30 though, because it's slightly sped up.
sled leaves at 3:06 and finishes just before 3:11 not sped up at all, these sleds are a sight to see in person. absolutely insane
Look at his movement at the end of the video. It is sped up
@@nathangerads3244 nope you are wrong about that
I rode a Yamaha V Max 750 the year they came out, I think 92 and thought it was insane fast, but this sled is nosebleed. Awesome fast. That is 2 stroke power mastered for sure. Wow!! Thanks for the ride.
I don’t know where I got so interested about fast snowmobiles, but this was definitely worth the watch
R.I.P Jim .! You are the man ! Making the fastest sleds in the world !
It's glad to see a buddy of mines dad's shop putting in work
OMG! Hella fast! thanks for the ride along. That was insane!!!
This was a great POV. Someone got Fu***d but it wasn't you!
You need to see one of these turbo monsters go down the track in person. Once you watch these at haydays or any other race they make all other machines appear to be standing still. haha agreed! These outlaw sleds nowadays are crazy fast and awesome to see in person. Just like watching the nitro / top fuel funny cars
That is just plain scary! I woud so love to try that once haha
hole lee shit that was fast as hell
i just shat my pants watching this. damn love watching OSP up and close at the races
Wow, my dad won the North American grass drag championship on an Arctic Cat sled, but it was nothing compare to these machines... Crazy fast !
Love the turbos when they dumping air. Sounds nasty!
me too!

holy shit, that was worth waiting for
Quickest way to get frostbite.
I race drag race snowmobiles like this to it isn’t sped up at all
love it. I own a turbo yammie. Haters will be haters. 850 guys go and hide.
I've seen alot of races in my days, including funny cars in drag races. Honestly, all those races, especially supercross excites me. This thing here? this scared the shit of me. westwing23 locking the skies to prevent them from turning. Imagine the damage one ski falling off would cause at 150 plus! That's like throwing a wrench into a jet engine. Total destruction!
These sleds are for drag racing only, they turn but not much. Thank you for watching!
rywolf01 what if you have a program loaded to the ecm or whatever and you put it on "race mode" and the servos/hydro steer.. or bump stop.. idk how the snowmobile operates but if its like a dirtbike then bump stop would be best. westwing23 It'd be too heavy to have those added. Drag sleds are all about power to weight ratio.
MXRiderForLife i got a cure for that, the system weights a maximum of 50lb. Of that is too heavy, get on a diet and lost 50lbs lol xD.
i love that exhaust set up you got
With an aftermarket suspension the front of the track is actually higher than the back and when you put power to it it puts it all to the ground without flipping over backwards.
God damn that things fast!
What was that on either side of them that sounded like an angry pack of bees? Could not tell they were in the rear view the whole time 😂
i know this may seem like a dumb question but i am new to snowmobile drag racing ...what is the popping sound right before he leaves? is it like a clutch ? or more like a trans brake? correct me if i am wrong but i think it is so he can leave at full throttle rather than waiting for boost pressure and so on?
I’m a long time snowmobiler. WOW
Goddamn that boy fast
Hell yeah that thing is fucking sick !!!!!!!
i'm used to hearing 156mph in a quarter mile, not an eighth. this shit is crazy
Tht thing is a boss but I love the sound of tht 2 stroke near u.
It is the stutter button so he can build full boost before he leaves the line at the light
Crazy crazy machine. Just about made me dizzy lol. I compare this sled to a "controllable" crotch rocket
3:00 to skip the bobbling around dizzying part.
holy go...MY HAND STARTED GRABBING FOR THE BREAK JUST WATCHING THIS!
Thank you for sharing this Vedio
that's crazy holy crap!
This would make me throw up... AND fly off the snowmobile! 😳👊🍻👍
i doubt it is sped up. ive seen a sled set up for oval racing at the world championship at eagle river, WI an all the stats on it right up close. you would be surprized at the throttle response. they can get up to 80mph from the center to the first corner.
What weight do these have and how much bhp do they produce?
official sled drags are mainly 500'. some lake races can also be 660'
Tht sled is not in Sweden? It's still in the shop on the rack, there's also a pink one for breast cancer
Wow. Just wow
Wow nice video sir
3:08 HOOOLLLLLYYYY SHIIIIIIII
great sled great vid
Not sped up at all. I've ridden these fast sleds at 151 in 1000ft.
Why electric start? Lighter not better? To much compression?
The starter isn't too heavy but the battery itself adds about 20lbs. Thats why the mechanic pulled that big booster box out as soon as it was fired up. That holds the charge to start the motor.
there isn't any way to hand crank these motors
that was awesome!
these things got tracks in the back right? so i'm thinking put 2 wheels in front and synchronise them like those new 3 wheeled motorcycles, BAM streetsled ?
Have to add a radiator to it, probably on top of the tunnel.
holy crap!😱
Man that reminds me of my exciter 440.....yep
Yea man those exciters are rockets. My friend has one hell of an exciter
Ludicrum i have three of them just wish we'd get enough snow to ride!! Lol
+Jason Herrell, had an Exciter 440... 1978... the white and red. Nice sled. Also a Phazer II 1993... nice one.
Faster than the GP292 ! :)
Id give anything to meet these men and have them help my nytro be faster.
come out!
thats because he was slowing down alot faster in the shut down than the other guy
I thought spring was going to come before they went down the track
Lord have mercy
Like a rocketship or going in a delorian
Don't blink or the race will be over before you can enjoy it:)
Thats Nice!!!!!
Is this 660 feet??
I have been to sled races on grass these machines really scream scary fast
What is the lever on the left grip? juice?
how do u even keep the front end on the ground???
Seems like it would hook up better on some softer snow.
Thats not sped up at all...thats real time with a lot of horsepower and the perfect clutch setup... the first drag sled i built was so fast It almost left from under me but i think it scared me so bad I couldant let go...lol and it was N/A

that's unreal
That's fucking nutty
If it is sped up, how come it still takes him 4.46 seconds? Thought so, not sped up.
Thank you. We DO NOT speed race videos up. What would be the point?
oh my fucking god ive never seem something like this
what kind of engine is in this ?
sick sled
jesus christ, thats a hell of a sled!!
Un-freaking-Real!
Holy crap!
Fast forward?
INSTANT TOPP SPEED
HOLY CRAP

I’ve driven some rockets...this seems about right to me
I've got an Exciter that's awfully fast. Just ask my girlfriend!!!!
Get my winter on in May
That was fast all right
Holy shit !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
mike smith It's sped up, look at his fingers.
+Music & Drawing I did your wrong and have no knowledge of sleds please quit fucking trolling.

ratherbecummin than strokin
You're*.
@coreybarry1977 where do you see wings on it?
Holy shit!!!!
Why cant it et at sub 4 second 1/8? Top fulers Run sub 4s in a qtr.that seems more unlikely but you know they do it.
what kind of sled
Cool
wow!
was this fast forwarded
*gulp*
that's fast!!!
its a sped up edited video its fake
Riley Derifield dude. Stfu. You can't even ride a sled that's fast.
