Love the baskets! A good hand surgeon can totally fix that thumb pain. I had it done and will have it done onthe other hand. It is SO worth it to get rid of the pain!! Just find the best surgeon. Ask physical therapists for one; they know. I am so glad I did.
In addition to counting stiches, I've found it helpful to use a stitch marker to mark the first stitch, moving it to the first stitch of each row as I go.
The level of patience you have for teaching us on your videos, is just tremendous. I am struggling with crocheting, and I truly appreciate your teaching skills. I felt bad that your hand was in so much pain. I have chronic fibromyalgia, and I kept saying out loud.. stop!! You can come back later or tomorrow!! Its fine!!! But I just wanted to say thank you. Your videos are the best.
Because you said to have the instructions alongside of us and you stopped at some point in the tutorial, I had to print them out..... AND I AM NOT ABLE TO READ PATTERNS...... BUT I DID, THIS TIME! I’m so proud of myself and thank you so much ☺️
I want to compliment you! You look so beautiful! Love your hair color, your outfit, and your heart necklace You’re a fantastic teacher and I really enjoy your tutorials! ❤️
Thank you for this tutorial ! Finally one that actually shows me how to properly crochet. I’m a visual learner so this video was very helpful! Thanks !
Hi Marly. Good Morning. I really Love your work, your yarns. Beautiful. I love the idea of crocheted baskets for not only decorating parts of our homes, but for organizing them too. Another new obsession, is your floor pouf. Stay safe
Hey there!! I just made my first basket. I made the large one specifically for my yarn projects I’m working on and I absolutely love it🥰 I’m a beginner and I’ve picked up pretty fast but this pattern was pretty easy! I used 2 1/2 skeins of “yarn bee” 🧶 “effortless super bulky” size 6 with a size10mm crochet hook (a 9mm would have worked better but I didn’t have one) I used the colors in biscotti and eggnog and omg it turned out awesome! I started the base with “biscotti” up to the first 10 rows then 5 rows of the “eggnog” then 5 of “biscotti”. Then I started the handle with “eggnog” up to 4 rows then the very cool crab stitch you shared!!! It’s sooooo stinkin’ adorable!! Thank you for the video! This won’t be my last basket! #yarnlover #crochetaddict #makingprettythings #marlybirdfan
I made the large basket and it turned out great. It worked up very fast too. I tried that last crab stitch(?) row and I love it. It felt kind of funny at first working backwards but it looks very nice. Thanks for a really good tutorial.
My next project for sure thank you for excellent tutorial. Just getting back into crochet after 5 year break, I find it easier & faster than knotting. If I make a boo boo it’s easily fixed as well.
Hello, I am not a beginner, so I fast forwarded through some if this, but I have to say you are an amazing teacher! One of the best tutorials I’ve seen. And that candy basket is adorable, thanks for the pattern. I just subbed😀
You are sooooooooo much fun !!! I made a second basket with two extra rows on the bottom because I need it for some worsted weight yarn. I can't wait to get both of them together with sock weight in one and worsted weight in the other.
Wonderful tutorial. Be sure to read pattern and not just watch video. Also, careful not to forget chain stitch after completing each row. Love this basket!
Halfway Crochet On the sides, after I slip stitch and chain 1, should I put my first single crochet into the next stitch? Or into the same stitch where I put the chain 1? My first basket looked a bit strange Im wondering if I made a mistake there. 🙂
I love your work.and they have a copper fit glove you can wear on your hand to help.also some your hand in Epson salt.Massage your hand with blue mineral ice . Thank you for the basket.
I love that cute mini basket! So sorry your hand was hurting, I've gone through that too when working with multiple strands of yarn and single crocheting. Glad you made this video tutorial!
You did excellent Marly, I could feel your pain cause I actually injured my wrist last year in the same way and it took 9 months to heal. There were times I thought I wouldn't be able to crochet again but after it healed, I had to change how I crochet and knit. There are some patterns I'd love to do but just can't for fear of re-injuring my wrist. Multiple strands, smaller hooks, and tight stitches I have to avoid. But, just glad I can still crochet and knit, I love it so much! Take care of your hands girl cause we need Marly Bird vid tutorials!! LOL! Hugs from Oregon!
Thank you for this very clear and easy to follow tutorial. I just made a medium basket to keep my yarn and work in progress, to be easy to move and store around the house, it's perfect. I made it with a thick ribbon yarn and it looks great, I can imagine how good it would also look with jersey yarn as a way to recycle old t-shirts and tights... the crab stitch border is a great addition, it's one of my favourite crochet border and I was thinking about adding that too, so it made me laugh when I saw I'd had the same idea as you. I'll probably be making a lot more in the future as it comes together so quickly and would make such a nice gift!
Thank you so much for this great video,, I'm working in me a Dallas Cowboys, basket for this football season,, and I FREAKING LOVE IT 💖💖💖💖THANK YOU 💖💖😁😃🎁
Hello my name is Francis Thompson I found out it Is easy for me to use stitch markers when makeing the Handles the count comes out a lot easier for me that you for sharing have a BLESS DAY ( STARTING ON MY SECOND BASKET LOVE THEM.
Sure, you could adjust the stitch count and go by measurements instead ;-) I think that would make a great basket. In fact...maybe I will give that a try :-)
Genuine question, what is the purpose of doing the ch1 at the beginning of the round and sl st at the end? I’ve made amigurumi before following different patterns but also working in rounds, and never seen it done this way before.
It’s just the way the designer wrote the pattern. These are called joined rounds. The other rounds you mentioned are called continuous rounds. Each one has its own benefit.
I've been asked to make a laundry basket... I will be using t-shirt yarn that I will make ... Would you by any chance have a patter for one or would you suggest making your large basket and make it taller?
Just came across your tutorial...very informative & interesting...thx...btw you're a stunning lady & I love how I can see what you are doing with your yarn how the camera is situated, interesting view. 🙂
I’m using this pattern to make a pet bed-once I work to the sides of the basket I’ll move to 2 strands and then once I reach twice the height that I want turn over the side and crochet it back to the first row of the side.
I added the crab stitch at the bottom on the front loop that we didn't use. It's cool looking. Not that the pattern needed it, I just like that stitch :)
This was great, what about different shapes like squares, oblong, etc. I want to make something for Christmas to give to my friends. Love the finish. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for this detailed and clear tutorial (from a newbie, this has been super helpful). This is the first project that I'm actually happy enough with that I haven't yanked everything out to start over on something else. That said, I accidentally did Round 2 up the sides (doing the large basket), on back loops only before realizing that that was just for Round 1 of the sides. Do I need to yank out all of these (Round 2 sides), or can I continue and then get back on track on Round 3? Thanks so much!
Thank you for this tutorial! I’ve been looking for a descriptive video for crocheting a basket; your videos are great! It’s always so hard to find a step by step tutorial that makes sense to me lol. I was wondering if you could maybe do a video of getting the cotton twine from the dollar tree and make a basket? I just have a lot of it at my house and I was wondering if that could work?
Aloha Marly! Question on the small basket size; Small basket measures about 8" [20.5 cm] tall and 30" [76 cm] circumference as written on the pattern. Is this correct? I am working on it right now and I'm wondering how can the basket be 8" tall?
Do you have or do you know of any videos that show instructions for this basket using a strand of clothesline rope as a filler, to make the basket stronger? I've seen baskets where the yarn is crocheted around the cord, but can't find instructions. Thank you.
Love the baskets! A good hand surgeon can totally fix that thumb pain. I had it done and will have it done onthe other hand. It is SO worth it to get rid of the pain!! Just find the best surgeon. Ask physical therapists for one; they know. I am so glad I did.

I love your work.and they have a copper fit glove you can wear on your hand to help.also some your hand in Epson salt.Massage your hand with blue mineral ice . Thank you for the basket.
Your a great teacher....thank you!!!
I want to make some of these for laundry baskets! Thanks for the video.
OH. That is a GREAT idea!
Mary Rad that was my exact thought!! I'm thinking the cotton yarns will add some stiffness to it too. We shall see. Pray for me as I fight the cotton
Is the large basket big enough for a laundry basket tho?
@@emilyfarris3996 you can always adjust the pattern

I love that cute mini basket! So sorry your hand was hurting, I've gone through that too when working with multiple strands of yarn and single crocheting. Glad you made this video tutorial!
Yes, multiple strands and a tight gauge really mess my hand up. I tried :-)

I love your baskets! Can they also be done with just one bulky yarn instead of three strands? Thank you for all your tutorials.
Sure, you could adjust the stitch count and go by measurements instead ;-) I think that would make a great basket. In fact...maybe I will give that a try :-)

Makes a great scrap yarn basket, magic knot your small balls of yarn together first.

I was wondering if you could maybe do a video of getting the cotton twine from the dollar tree and make a basket? I just have a lot of it at my house and I was wondering if that could work?
What color did you use for the smaller one you showed at the very beginning of the video?
Aloha Marly! Question on the small basket size; Small basket measures about 8" [20.5 cm] tall and 30" [76 cm] circumference as written on the pattern. Is this correct? I am working on it right now and I'm wondering how can the basket be 8" tall?
Hi Marley. I love these baskets. I'm having problems with the circle base rippling. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.
Do you have or do you know of any videos that show instructions for this basket using a strand of clothesline rope as a filler, to make the basket stronger? I've seen baskets where the yarn is crocheted around the cord, but can't find instructions. Thank you.
