Susan, thank you very much. Very very helpful for a nerd like me who was staring at the cleats and the shoes and having no idea on how to put them together. Tomorrow is my first spinning class with real shoes after 2 years, YAY! THANKS AGAIN
As a novice I have watched a handful of videos in the last few days on this subject and this one was by far the most comprehensive and easy to follow. Thanks
Very helpful video! I just bought my first cycling shoes and cleats. After a few videos that weren't as detailed, I found yours. You showed everything and explained everything. Thank you!
Very helpful!! I'm shopping for indoor cycling shoes and I didn't even know what some of the shoe=related terminology meant. This answered all my questions, showed me what to look for when shopping, and how to install the cleats. THANKS!
I just got my new cycling sandals and cleats in the mail. It's nice to find a video that shows me how to install the cleats since it is the first time I will be doing this. Thanks for a helpful video.
thanks for this demonstration! i especially found the part where you detailed which holes to use in the racing shoes that have several hole sets, as mine were identical and i had no idea where to put the cleats. Great job!
Awesome! Thank you for taking the time and explaining the steps. I bought different stuff for different shops and the cleats I got were universal so I was like why the heck is this not working.. but it's because it had an extra piece not needed for SPD shoes. Thank you so much! Way better than any other videos I found.
Thank you! I've just got my first pair of cycling shoes, and I had no idea how to install the cleats in them. I hadn't realised that the plates the shoes came with needed to come off before putting the cleats in haha. So, thank you for this clear video.
me too. I have been in spin classes for years.. Now the new bikes and pedals have the toe cages that seemed too small for me and hurt my feet, so I finally ordered a pair and this vid def helped.
This is such a good video. As a newbie, it was accessible and really easy to follow. You need to supplement this with other videos on positioning, but this answered so many basic questions I had and allowed me to crack on with it. Thank you!
Because it lacks full information on how to properly install the cleats. No mention of side to side alignment. (regarding float & center to pedal alignment) Anyone who follows this without checking other videos or goes to shop, will likely not have a good fit/installation. This was a half-ass attempt. She phoned it in. Good intentions, but poor presentation.
Good video! going to this send to a friend that just got shoes. I usually recommend placing the cleat centered (left to right) on the shoe, and centered (front to back) under the ball of your foot. It's a good starting point, a lot of people up just leaving it there :) Yes, grease is a must! (also use lots on seat post, any bearings, bottom brackets, cranks, etc, especially where alum meets steel) good tip. grease those cleat bolts! (they are bolts not screws haha)
This was just what I needed! I would not have thought about the grease... I am still a tad puzzled about the two sets of holes. Not sure which one to pick...
Good video. I bought a set Decathlon France SPD cleats for Spinning (RPM in France). No instructions for the 5 pieces. Only on watching the video did I realise I needed only 3 of the 5 pieces
Nice video...may I offer a slight suggestion? The video says to "recycle the plates" that the cleats screw into, however some shoes do not come with plates, so these will be needed. Also, I have seen the threads strip out of these plates more than once and/or rust/corrode, so sticking them in the drawer until the shoes expire might not be a bad idea. Bike shops will usually charge you for replacements! And finally, it would have been nice if you could have given some basic guidance to apparent novices about what to look/feel for in adjusting the cleats position (fore and aft and side to side) in the shoe. Telling them that "I can't do that here" is of little help. Why not? There are some basic guidelines that give a good starting point.
*Great **Latest.Bike** , good looking, good suspension and love the gearing. I've tested some bikes that were more then twice the price but not as good. Get lots of looks when riding.*
All of that was obvious apart from the one bit you missed out. There are 4 screw holes in my shoe (and yours) - do you use the front, back or either....what does it depend on ??
Some additional info that wasn't in this video. Most people use the front row of holes in the mounting plate because it puts their shoes in the best alignment for pedaling. As for distance and lateral angle, your shoes should be parallel to the bike frame, not heels inward or pigeon toed. As for forward or backward in those long grooves on your shoes, your knee joint should line up with the axis of your pedal when the forward pedal is horizontal, at the 3 o'clock position. Another anatomic reference is that the ball of your foot should be over that same axis for maximum stability and power transference when you bear down. The SPD grip lets you lift the entire bike and pull with your trailing leg while pushing with the forward leg. That uses the hamstrings and gives you ~10% more power.
Thanks! I was just coming to the comments to find out if anyone had the question about which row of holes in the mounting plate to use! The rest is very useful, also.
6:26 Please do not tighten it all the way until you can’t anymore use a torque wrench it’s the best option for finding out the best tightness it’s typically 2.5-3.5 nm

The best video I've seen on installing SPD cleats. Very clear. Thank you.
Perhaps, the easiest explanation I found on internet. Sad to see that the channel apparently is discontinued.
Thank you! I finally know what the plates it came with are for, and now I can stop worrying about what should I do with them.

Thanks for this video! Had no idea how to set up my shoes until I watched this video. Now a happy newbie!
Thanks. The instruction on throwing away the extra plate, grease, and insole removal helped me learn new things while installing my cleats.
Filmed 11 years ago, it looks like 2020 video quality
This girl was ahead of the curve
Thanks! New to clipless pedals and this was the most clear set of instructions for getting my cleats properly installed- well done!

First day in spd cleats, thank you for the great video!!

Thank you so much! I'm so bad with these sort of things.. Now I get to go to my spin class with my brand new shoes tomorrow! :-)
Thanks, i've just installed my first cleats ever with your help 😉
This was just what I needed! I would not have thought about the grease... I am still a tad puzzled about the two sets of holes. Not sure which one to pick...
Thank you! All of my questions were answered in this one video.
Thank you! Just got my first pair, can't wait to try them out in spin class tomorrow.

Good video. I bought a set Decathlon France SPD cleats for Spinning (RPM in France). No instructions for the 5 pieces. Only on watching the video did I realise I needed only 3 of the 5 pieces
I'm fairly new to biking and the concept of clipless pedals, so this was really usefull. Thank you
Thanks for this helpful video! I'd love to know what kind of grease you'd recommend for the bolts.
Thank you I’m new to indoor cycling...this was very helpful.
Thanks! It is may first cycling shoe and I appreciate your help.

Sure this video didn’t come out this year? Great quality 👍🏿
Best explanation, so clear and concise.
Excellent tutorial. Clear sound and video.
Very thorough and simple to understand. Thanks.

Very clear and informative, thank you!
Thank you soooo much for this! It gives basically all the information needed.
Simple and helpful. About to ride clipless for the first time
How are you finding the clipless?? I'm just looking at getting a pair and was wondering what you think? I'm on a mtb.
Loving them and I live in NY with heavy traffic. You get used to them and you develop a strategy for unclipping. Clipping in is he hardest to master
very helpful. the best info on the subject. trust....I watched several
Thanks. Helped me out better than the instructions that came w my pedals
Thank you, as a novice this is really helpful.
G
Thank you, what a wonderfully detailed tutorial! This is my first time using cleats also :-)
Very informative THANKS! Anti-seize compounds is better than grease. After your ride check the tightness of the screws again.
Great video, easy to follow. Thank you
It was very helpful, thank you Susan!

Perfect.Exactly the cleat I am using and almost the same shoe base.
Thank you so much for posting this video - so helpful!
Great informative vid - thank you :)
Actual instructions begins at 6:00
LOL
It's worth noting: if you're an amateur (me) and this is your first time putting cleats on shoes (also me), watch the whole video.
Thanks for the video I just instaled my cleats thanks to it.
this was extremely helpful! thank ou
This was super helpful. Thanks.
@Keyboardbeatz Yes, as it clips on to the pedal. More power is transfer as ur ball of the foot is giving the most energy transferr.
Thank you. Beautifully explained!
thank you sooooooooo much for posting this video! Now I know what to do :)
Thanks for such a thorough demonstration!
Wow 11 years old video and also the best
Great video, very informative thanks for sharing👍🏼
Appreciate the video, you explained everything very well.
Thanks, very well done. Exactly what I needed

@coffeethen
Uses a 3 bolt pattern, has a bigger cleat that is not recessed so it is harder to walk in.
@Keyboardbeatz Short answer - yes. You can pull up as well as push down
Clear and simple ! Thank you
Good video! Way better than anything GarbageVillage puts out.
Thanks for that video, very useful
Thanks for this great video now I can finally use my clip-less pedals :D
Nice and useful. well done.
Thanks for all the detail!
Thank you very much, Just what I needed.
great vid. and understandable thorough instructions. ty
Solid information!
So useful, thank you.
What's the maximum rotation degree allowed?
I like to use mtb shoes for my road bike because can easy to walk, but mtb shoes only has 2 holes, won't work for road bike pedals, any idea? thx
6:26 Please do not tighten it all the way until you can’t anymore use a torque wrench it’s the best option for finding out the best tightness it’s typically 2.5-3.5 nm
Excellent video. It's helped me!!
great info; looks like this video was made this year
