Was a good... well 17 years since the last 23 have been terrible.
@@JokerP5 Not a criticism I have but we can start with the hypocricy of a major criticism of FF13 being a "hallway simulator" but no one mentioning how Remake is worse. We can cover calling it a remake is a blatant lie from Square since its a sequel reboot, but that's more meta and doesnt mean its bad just means Square are liars. To get more into the game can cover how poorly paced it is, how bloated with padding it is. It's clearly a 6-8 h game with 20+ hours of useless padding to try and make it one game because Square wanted to make Midgar one game, or wanted to make remake 3 games to get more money. The whispers not showing up when they should and showing up when they shouldnt based on what they're supposedly there for. The poor and lazy design of sidequests, over adundance of Sephiroth, and the incredibly shit power scaling. To compare to Dragon ball we spend most of the game at Pilaf level, then the final boss tells us suddenly everyone shot up to Beerus level, now wants you to believe they're back to pilaf level. We can take fighting Midgardsorm in rebirth. Cloud tifa barret and Red just defeated Sephiroth and an aspect of reality, but now they want us to buy that a random snake is a threat? Or how about we just defeated Sephiroth and are now suppose to believe he's a threat? Cloud can slice buildings in half but normal humans are somehow a threat? I'll almost throw in the hilarity of thousands of ghosts appearing epic choir music, a supposed intense fight with the whispers, all to make Jessie twist her ankle. That takes 1 ghost popping out of a floorboard, what did the other 99,999 ghosts show up for? Why the intense choir music like this was some epic scene or moment? It was nothing. Course there's also the game wanting to gloss over the Don's trio and Leslie are sex slavers and murderers. That's inconvenient to remember. The game makes it clear the Don rapes women and kills them, and that he gets said women from Sam, Andrea Rhodea, Madam M, and they know what he does to them, but shhhhh youre suppose to like those 3 so dont think about it. Oh speaking off. Don corneo watched Cloud and Aerith's arena fights, and the two guys inside are the arena announcers, but somehow dont recognize Could and Aerith? Andrea cross dressed Cloud live on stage, but everyone forgets?
Oh so close now and hearing good stuff is also just fantastic, if we want a mainline game in the form of this gameplay wise then this is the time to vote with our wallets here. There's no better clear indicator for the execs at square than this doing better than the newest number entry. As much as I enjoy 16 I do not want it to be the standard for Final Fantasy's future, I miss the more traditional feel of the games and although 7 remake isn't pure turn based the hybrid idea made it feel traditional just with a modern spin and they should build off this moving forward. As much as I do want pure turn based back 7 remake's gameplay would be a happy compromise I'll accept for the next numbered entry.
Damn, damn, don't even have a PS5 yet, but this year are the year of jrpg, my favorite games and with this score I'm stoked, not only for me, but new younger players will experience this genre. Imagen being a like 15 yrs old gamer, wtf they have so many games to enjoy.
It will be longer than 3 months for the pc version. Remake had 6 month exclusivity but took over a year for the pc remake which was buggy on release. I’m the same as you. I just want to play it when I want and it looks amazing already as all the reviews say.
Only question in my mind now is whether or not the Elden Ring DLC will be viable for a nomination, since if it is, it'll probably take it over anything else. Given the fact that Phantom Liberty got nominations last year, now I'm not sure what the rules are anymore. As much as I love Elden Ring, I do not feel like DLCs should be competing with full games, so I would prefer that they be kept to their own category of something like "Best Expansion." If that's the case, Rebirth clears everything so far imo. I cannot imagine what other game could possibly get announced AND release this year that could top Rebirth's critical reception so far. Realistically it would have to be Nintendo, since they tend to release their big games (outside of Zelda for some reason) within several months of announcing them. So just like with something like smash ultimate, they could announce a game's existence in March and have it release in October and we'd all be completely blindsided. I just can't imagine what it would be.
I was born in ‘84, played every rpg I could get my hands on from the NES until today. I haven’t felt hype like this for a game since I was a kid in 1997. This game is going to kick the shit out of everything regardless of whatever occasional imperfection we may come across.
It's actually the first time FF7 Rebirth was able to score 90s ever since FF12. And also CBU1 (which includes Kitase, Nomura, Toriyama, Nojima and Hamaguchi) has successfully achieved and was driven by self-motivation by making FF7R as great. It might have actually been a while since Square struggled to bring FF franchise into HD during the PS3 era.
My Liege, Have you seen the Reynatis Game trailer?! Look at the main character, it's Yozora and the story takes place in a Shibuya looking town! Takumi Isobe (Trinity Trigger) is the game's planner, producer, and director. Kazushige Nojima (Final Fantasy VII, VIII, X; Kingdom Hearts series) is penning the scenario for the game. Yoko Shimomura (Street Fighter II, Final Fantasy XV, Kingdom Hearts series) is composing the music. Yasutaka Kaburagi is drawing the game's character designs, while Yūsuke Naora is drawing the visuals. StudioGOONEYS is producing the game's cutscenes.
Im really hyped for rebirth but Im also disappointed that we can't play Cid and Vincent well hopefully they can be included in part 3 that would be great.
Tbh 8 characters are overwhelming, especially when each character is so unique you want play them all, to add two more unique characters is too much, I don't know how to deal with it when part 3 is out.
After all they did with the jaw-dopping VII Remake, I had no doubts that Rebirth would double down and become a masterpiece. Game of the Decade? We shall see.
I'll be honest. Considering how much depth FF7RB has compared to FF16 in every area, which is a new mainline entry, keep in mind. I think FF16 should have gotten pushed back. I like FF16 but 7 Rebirth honestly embarrassed and shamed it in comparison outside the story and characters.😩
16 had a few fleeting moments that I thought it was the greatest final Fantasy game ever but by the time I finished it I just felt like it was complete trash.
The Gamespot review and it's semi-spoiler about the ending is pretty worrying, but I'm looking forward to seeing everything in 4k and no-lifing the mini-games regardless.
I honestly didn't expect such high reviews lol, I mean, the game looks fcking perfect and the demos were incredible, but holy shit. I actually expected 89% or 90% on metacritic personally, so 92% was a massive surprise.
I've been off the charts excited for this game, but I just had a lot of obligations crop up for about the first week after this releases, that I've gone into a mild depression over having to wait a solid two weeks before I'm really going to have the chance to dive in...
While the plot changes in FFVII Remake initially rubbed me the wrong way, the conclusion of the game left me excited. But, for that to happen I needed to understand that this series wasn't actually a remake, but rather a spinoff or sequel to the original FFVII saga. The original game is in it's own seperate timeline/reality and this new story doesn't change anything about its plot in the least. FFVII Remake & Rebirth is some sort of branching timeline that Sephiroth seems to be traversing and corrupting after merging into the lifestream... at least that's my best guess about what's happening. So, it's really kind of a continuation of Sephiroth's storyline in the aftermath of his original death/defeat. If you go into Rebirth with that mindset, as I will, the plot changes shouldn't urk you.
@@phanhuyduc2395 yes the game is almost stopped when the menu is opened, you can freely choose any ability/spell/item/limit break and others during the time frame. It's like the tactical mode in FF15.
The way nomura talks about people spoiling the game reminds me of the situation with avengers endgame. Making me believe that this is really gonna be a masterpiece, and that the third one will likely be the best game I’ve ever played. Which is weird to say because I’m almost 30 and have had an infinite amount of favorite games in my time, but I never thought endgame would surprise me the way it did, and I feel like this has the same potential. When endgame ended the theater audience gave a standing ovation, which was something I’d never seen before in a movie theater until that point. I feel like this game is the infinity war and part 3 will be a spectacle for long time and new fans alike. I’m beyond excited for what nomura has in store for this game and the next, and that’s to say the least
I told dudes on this channel when they were aggressively glazing XVI that rebirth was the game that was going to be revolutionary for the series and rpgs in general. Now the facts pile on.
The thing about FF9 being at 94 but only with 22 critics is a good point I didn't think about till this video.. Rebirth is at 93 with 115 positive reviews and 4 pending on Metacritic. So yes this is indeed the highest rated FF game. Holy shit. I hope the success of this game inspires SE to realize that yes we want open FF games that feel like you're going on a journey and less hallway/cave runner experiences. Of course this is also assuming they consider the criticism that Rebirth has been receiving. I didn't read much of any reviews but it seems a common complaint is the "bloated" nature of the content in the game which is what I expected.
Hold on FF12 received that high of a total score? I mean I have nothing against the game, but it seems to conflict all the constant criticism and dismissal I heard and seen over the years regarding it.
NSP, I have to ask. Did you get your hands on this game early like you did remake? If you can't answer that question, I understand. I'll just wait for the review. I am so hyped. I could feel my chest beating out of my heart as I was watching this video. Wait, did I just say that backwards? I'm so excited I can't even talk right. You're the greatest NSP!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Back when FF7 remake was announced I had to make a call of ps4 or Xbox, back then Xbox was supposed to get it too but last minute I went with Sony and I haven’t regretted it since
*OG FF7 Spoilers*: As long as Aerith still dies, and NOT a twist where it’s someone else or anything dumb/subverting like that, this game looks like an absolute win. Please, SE, don’t screw that moment up! 🙏 😅😊
well they can cop out and say it was a different timeline inthe multiverse. or maybe as cloud took a step here he traverse across the cosmos. i dont know. its rubbish already, they cant write a story anymore
Just kind of shows that games these days can't tell a story as deep as the older games without spanning multiple games unless you make them more linear like 16.
Its clear that if the make enough money they will make VIII and IX as well. Let's just hope Nomura is not in chrarge and Kitase it's the only director.
Another thing to factor in, is if you buy Rebirth now, you get Remake integrade FOR FREE. Which is absolutely insane value. Which makes it (the whole package) even better. Remake is still really good. Both games are probably 60hours + per game. which exploration enjoyers could probably stretch and combine to 200 hours.
@KingdomFinalXBleach soooo does that magically change the fact that when this video was made ff7 rebirth has the highest score of any ff game? .... oh wait it doesn't.
I'm waiting for the fan mad movie, I don't have ps5 yet and Idc about spoilers cause half of the game is spoiled due to the 98 release.. I'll still buy it and play it and enjoy the living crap out of it
It surpassed expectations because it was made by a team of people who aren’t trying to turn it into an MMORPG, Skyrim wannabes, or Game of Thrones knock offs. They actually made it correctly and didn’t try to turn it into some old Japanese guy’s misguided idea of what he thinks western people want out of final fantasy. Because you know we western people fell in love with final fantasy because it’s a JAPANESE rpg. If we wanted a western RPG we would go play one!

Do people actually let review scores dictate whether or not they will buy a game? If i thnk it looks good from the trailers and promotional stuff then im gonna buy it regardless if it gets a 30/100 or 100/100. Star Ocean 5 got abysmal reviews but i played through that game 3 times

Nope never have and never will especially from Metacritic, this goes for movies and them plus rotten tomatoes. It means I don't have to be driven nuts from people mad I liked a game or movie they did'nt.
@@phillystevesteak6982 Yup this is a much better system. If you find critics whose tastes more or less match yours and they all say something's good, then you know there's a very high chance of you liking it, too. Obviously you shouldn't listen to every critic though.
i'm not too worried about hearing some reviewers say the ending is a mess that doesn't work. Just look at the ending of Remake, those events have no place and to have the party just carry on with a journey after they just had a load of future flash forwards in their mind while temporarily getting advent children style anime powers. But despite remakes ending being a narrative mess that doesn't really work either, the whole game is still great and i'm not sure if it would even be better if they simply removed the Kingdom Hearts style ending scenario.

Rebirth isnt a W if you want good FF games, its not a W if you want good games, its not a W if you wanted a remake of FF7. It's an across the board L, because it means we'll likely get more crap like this. I'll stick through this trilogy but wont play another FF game ever again. Was a good... well 17 years since the last 23 have been terrible.
@@redbearington3345 how is remake bad?
"Out of this low" we've been out since 14 and beyond mate
Dragon's dogma 2 is Rebirths only competition imo.

Can’t believe only week away. I’ve been going crazy waiting for this game.
It's amazing that FF13 had 83/81 when really, it deserved much lower lol
It's Upon us The Reunion When the Past meets the Present and the players are are feed a new Golden Age !
Honestly I am overjoyed that one of my favourite games of all time, years after it first released in 1997 is still getting so much attention in 2024,
Damn, damn, don't even have a PS5 yet, but this year are the year of jrpg, my favorite games and with this score I'm stoked, not only for me, but new younger players will experience this genre. Imagen being a like 15 yrs old gamer, wtf they have so many games to enjoy.
Im so mad I caved and bought a PS5 just for this game. But It'll be worth it I think. No way would I have been able to avoid spoilers for 3 months
It will be longer than 3 months for the pc version. Remake had 6 month exclusivity but took over a year for the pc remake which was buggy on release.
I’m the same as you. I just want to play it when I want and it looks amazing already as all the reviews say.
Naoki Hamaguchi and Naoki Yoshida are the 2 GOATs of SE in my book.
4years?? We’ve been waiting 27 years to see this story at this level of detail. This last week is killing me lmao this is a literal dream come true.
I almost wanna cry just hearing how well the reviews the game is receiving are. One more week to go 😮
Good games are always a win for the players. Here's hoping all the RPGs coming out this year bring the competition.
I don’t want spoilers at all, but the games story, alone, is 80+ hours. There’s no way I can avoid spoilers for all that time. 😢
Uuugh you started this off with my favorite FF track “The Promised Land” 🥺……Advent Children’s OST is the chefs kiss, very underrated.
StudioGOONEYS is producing the game's cutscenes.
i got to say I cant wait for my turn to play the full game hope it gets a game of the year or at least rpg of the year.
Demo was fantastic - battle system is soooo fun . Was giving me major FFXII vibes throughout too
After playing the demo, i am sold. It felt amazing and i cant wait to buy it.
Im really hyped for rebirth but Im also disappointed that we can't play Cid and Vincent well hopefully they can be included in part 3 that would be great.
They might give us a dlc for him
Of course they’ll be included in part 3
Tbh 8 characters are overwhelming, especially when each character is so unique you want play them all, to add two more unique characters is too much, I don't know how to deal with it when part 3 is out.
I wasn´t so sure about where this would be going after the remake, but damn am I ready to experience it!
Nostalgia definitely plays into this
After all they did with the jaw-dopping VII Remake, I had no doubts that Rebirth would double down and become a masterpiece.
I hope Square sells over a million copies in the first week!! I want this game to do numbers!!!
16 had a few fleeting moments that I thought it was the greatest final Fantasy game ever but by the time I finished it I just felt like it was complete trash.
Just a few more days!! I'll be ready right at midnight!
The Gamespot review and it's semi-spoiler about the ending is pretty worrying, but I'm looking forward to seeing everything in 4k and no-lifing the mini-games regardless.
When you realize that FFVII Remake was just the 20-30 hour opening tutorial for Rebirth.
To me. After betting it and taking time to think about it.
This is the greatest game i ever played!
If you go into Rebirth with that mindset, as I will, the plot changes shouldn't urk you.
i like how the turn based spell combat is hidden within the realtime dodging and sword attacks
How exactly? Lol
Action stop when you use the Combat Menu ?
@@phanhuyduc2395 yes the game is almost stopped when the menu is opened, you can freely choose any ability/spell/item/limit break and others during the time frame. It's like the tactical mode in FF15.

Square is right on point so far. I'm rooting for them.
So I actually loved remake and hearing all this about rebirth has my excitement through the damn roof
So hyped to play this game next year man this is a great year to be an FF fan
Gonna wait for this masterpiece to release on PC!!
It's a masterpiece ff12 is way above any ff7 remake
You were just unlucky and only ran into the 0.somethijg percent
NSP, I have to ask. Did you get your hands on this game early like you did remake? If you can't answer that question, I understand. I'll just wait for the review. I am so hyped. I could feel my chest beating out of my heart as I was watching this video. Wait, did I just say that backwards?
I'm so excited I can't even talk right. You're the greatest NSP!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Convoluted stories and ending are par for the course in Jrpgs, could we expect anything else? lmao
Xactly
Right when i saw nanaki on a chocobo i was sold.
Just kind of shows that games these days can't tell a story as deep as the older games without spanning multiple games unless you make them more linear like 16.
This is beautiful!
A massive win for the franchise ~ FF is so back like never before (aside from FF14) ❤
Its clear that if the make enough money they will make VIII and IX as well. Let's just hope Nomura is not in chrarge and Kitase it's the only director.
Why Kitase over Nomura?
Game looks great but i dont know if it blew expectations out of the water. It is exactly what everyone was expecting.
I saw that, absolute insane deal and made me consider buying digital. I wanted the deluxe edition for the artbook tho so still went physical.
@5 Idk, maybe you can still get remake for free with buying physical?
It is free on ps+ anyways tho.,

"The ending is a mess and doesn't work." Comment has me worried, ngl
Doesn’t trust the word of a critic, they have small brains.
ASOIAF will be remembered long after people have forgotten about video games let alone "final fantasy".
@@nightfears3005You’re comment is besides the point. Also I had to google that acronym so that says a lot about you as a person I think and honestly outside of game of thrones forums I really don’t hear people talking about it that much in person so I highly doubt that. It’s not exactly lord of the rings. Anyways even if that is true what does that have to do with my comment?
Do people actually let review scores dictate whether or not they will buy a game? If i thnk it looks good from the trailers and promotional stuff then im gonna buy it regardless if it gets a 30/100 or 100/100. Star Ocean 5 got abysmal reviews but i played through that game 3 times
Wtf else would scores be.
I came from a time we didn't have scores. You literally picked a game because you liked the cover art on the box. Trust me, this is a massive improvement - even if it isn't always reliable.
@@phillystevesteak6982 Review scores for games have been a thing since the late 80s. If you were actually into gaming and not a child you were getting magazines.
Nope never have and never will especially from Metacritic, this goes for movies and them plus rotten tomatoes. However seeing people being generally positive on a game or movie is what I typically want to see from the scores.
Some of my favorite games got 80s score. People now in day just buy whatever is at the top of the chart to look cool and fit in with society
i'm not too worried about hearing some reviewers say the ending is a mess that doesn't work.
