I did my own road trip for 4 solid days around Lofoten in 2023, crazy amazing experience, need to do it again, I visited in the July, amazing Midnight Sun. Gr8 video. I found it best to fly into Tromso and Drive down, amazing road trip of 2 lifetimes.
Oh, you also neglected to mention Harstad/Narvik airport in Evenes. At the entry point to the archipelago and MUCH nearer than Tromsø. It can be reached easily from Oslo.
Hey there, thank you for a good overview. We are going next week. Some things I researched are: Bodö to Moskenes ferry is free for passengers without car. A reservation costs 25€ but you. don't need one there is always some space. We fly to Bodö which saves us 800€ as a family of 4. My advice for car rental, which is super expensive in the area is Getaround. You can save like 400€ per day in summer season.
You say 'know your limits' but attempted Reinebringen in winter whilst the entry to the trail was chained off and signposted closed, as shown in your own video.
@@rikjames3527 thanks for your concern! we have a ton of experience in backcountry climbing and hiking particularly in snow, chatted with locals and decided to go for it based on our experience. Im not sure if you’ve done it in winter before or your experience, but although they put chains up in the winter, the hike doesn’t ever legally close as the Right to Roam in Norway doesn’t allow that. Hence the warning. Safe travels ✌️
I'm going in February! I know you mentioned the buses in Lofoten, and we're uncomfortable driving in winter especially with no experience driving in snowy conditions/on that side of the road (We're from Australia). Do you think the buses will be sufficient or taxis even if its a more expensive option? We don't mind the extra cost, but I'm a little worried about the frequency of the public transport. Thanks for an informative video!
Awesome video, can't wait for my Trip to Norway. I have one suggestion if you don't mind. On the Drone increase the FPS from 25 to 30, I noticed jumping frames in your video and I had that issue in the past but I fixed it by increasing the FPS.
Yes, that's correct! You have to choose particular rooms that come with it OR you can add other amenities like the saunas on to your stay for an additional cost.
End of October into November! Flying into Tromso and driving down. Thank you for mentioning Nusfjord, I might actually take it out of our itinerary and spend more time in the other towns 😊
Hi beautiful informative video. We will be visiting on Nov 24th and staying in Reine. 1) just 3 queries - for northern lights will this be a good village to see them or rely more on northern lights tours(will be doing one anyways)….2) would the reinebriengen hike be open? 3) Any drone restrictions generally
We did not do any northern lights tours, you can typically find most of the spots yourself in Reine if you have a rental car! I would not recommend Reinebringen during winter it's extremely dangerous even for experienced hikers. And you do need to register your drone in the EU and Lofoten has some specific drone restrictions you can find here: visitlofoten.com/en/droneguide/
Stephen is a professional drone pilot so it's not hard for us since we already have the paperwork and insurance! If you haven't done that in other countries before could be a headache though
Hello, i have no wards to say how much i love Lofoten island, Norway. Thank you very much for your beautiful video.

@@rikjames3527 The lower frequency of flights out there and the price just make it harder to access than the others ☺️

@@Ann-Kathrin-n4v we pre-booked the ferry though since summer gets super busy, but it was worth it!

This could possibly be the best video about Lofoten in winter
Can’t wait to be there fews more weeks
Have the best time!
Question. Did you drive a 4WD car or a 2WD? How were road conditions in the month of March?
I’m spending 2 weeks in lofoten islands in November. How does that sound?

@@JPMNRB thanks for watching! Also lol we already do shoot in 30 😂
@TheLoversPassport That's Odd I used to have that issue when shooting in 24 but cool. Keep up the good work!!
Hattvika Lodge now limits use of *both* of the hot tubs to only specific rooms.

What part of the year did you go to see northern lights?
We went in March!
Is Lofoten on your travel bucket list?
Going there in a week
Going there in September End 2024
End of October into November! Flying into Tromso and driving down. Thank you for mentioning Nusfjord, I might actually take it out of our itinerary and spend more time in the other towns 😊
Living there ;) (Leknes)
Hi - Which car rental company would you recommend ?
We just rented a car from Hertz at the Airport! This next visit we're also going through Sixt.
Rent-A-Wreck should be cheaper
If your airport is Leknes I would look at staying in Ballstad.

@ noted …very helpful thank you!
Hey, Great video, in which month did you go? I was planning for mid-march and I was wondering of It would be too snowy/icy
We went in mid march as well!
Exactly what I needed, thank you! Question, did you need a block-heater at any point in time/get stuck in snow?
No we had no issues with the snow!
@@TheLoversPassport Than you!
Hi was your trip in begining of march or end of march 2024?, since weather changes every week in lofoten
It was the 2nd and 3rd week!
Starting January 1, 2024, you need to register your drone and purchase a drone insurance for Norway. I wonder how difficulty for you to do that?
Stephen is a professional drone pilot so it's not hard for us since we already have the paperwork and insurance! If you haven't done that in other countries before could be a headache though
Can I go these places without a car?
There are buses in Lofoten, but we would recommend renting a car to get around!
Hi, how did you guys get there from Finland?
We rented a car in Rovaniemi and drove! But this time around we flew into Bodo, Norway and took a ferry over!
You mispronounced nearly every city name 😢
We gave a disclaimer in the beginning that we don't speak Norwegian and really tried our best :/
We thought the same thing. The tiniest bit of research would have given you the proper pronunciations. 😉
Well done guys but slow your speech down just a little 👍
