  • Hot Wheels Buzz Off Redline Restoration - Going through some old Hot Wheels castings, I saw this old Buzz Off casting and figured it was a good time to restore it. I also experimented a little more with the Hot Swap bearings and finally got them to work properly for me…with a little adjustment. I hope you like the results! #hotwheels #redline #restoration

    "WrongWay Jim" strikes again! ;) lol! I think we all can relate. I put a waterslide decal on upside down once, and it was stuck-fast that way. lol It happens, man! Sometimes things are a struggle--up hill both ways--day late & a dollar short, and we're lucky that we get it accomplished at all! You always come up aces, Jim, so don't sweat it! This turned out looking great! Such a radical improvement! Love it!

      Thanks so much Loston! It gets really tough with little, tiny decals like on an upcoming Bone Shaker build you'll be seeing in about two weeks. I made decals for the taillights, and if they don't come off the backing while soaking, they stick to my finger and it's anyone's guess what direction anything is going lol

    Never seen the Buzz Off before, but it's not hard to stump me! And, as a man who has put decals on backwards and NOT caught it, I applaud your save on this one!😀 Really nice restoration, Jim. Enjoy your weekend. 🍁☕👍

      LOLOL I don't deserve too much applause for catching the decal being backwards - the ONLY reason I caught it is because it wouldn't fit. If it had, I would have happily applied it and clearcoated right over it lol Thanks Andrew!

    Great restoration...what a "comeback" with the decal stickers 😅...if I'm not mistaken, the original name of this casting was called the "Tri Baby", designed by Hot Wheels Legendary Designer Larry Wood...this restoration is worthy of anyone's display, and I think Larry himself would be proud 😉 😊.

    • @JimSilva-SilvaDiecastCustoms
      @JimSilva-SilvaDiecastCustoms  6 місяців тому

      Thanks! I was lucky the decals worked out the way they did lol. That's correct, the casting was originally released as the Tri Baby and later renamed to Buzz Off (which seems like a really odd renaming to me lol)

    Turned out great, Jim! I did one of these several months back and noticed the same concerns with the decals. Like you, I ended up using the Micro Sol to get that hood decal to suck down…was nervous the whole way 😂. My resto ended up as the example picture on Vince’s site, so I guess it turned out pretty good 😁. Onward and Upward, brother! Thanks for sharing your skills and knowledge.

    • @JimSilva-SilvaDiecastCustoms
      @JimSilva-SilvaDiecastCustoms  6 місяців тому +1

      LOL I completely relate to the "nervous the whole way" about that hood decal. Without Micro Sol to the rescue, it wouldn't have been pretty...and there is that waiting and fingers crossed period where you're just hoping it all works out lol Thanks for watching!

    I hope I'm not barking up the wrong goat, but it seems to me the pinstripe decals have a much thicker line than the unrestored pinstripes. That is not saying it doesn't look better than when you started, rather...than what you started with. It cleary looks better thanks to your efforts. I just prefer the narrower or finer pinstripes. Great video as always! Glad you get my goat at the end of all them! Have fun with your toys!

      Thanks JM! I need to strike a careful balance between publishing more content and making people sick of watching my videos. I'm joking...but not really. I've spent as much time during the past six months or so learning and experimenting with the "behind the scenes" of the channel as much as I have doing little cars. Fortunately, I enjoy both. Thanks for watching!
