I agree with this method. Baremetal said in one of his videos he keeps laying on coats “until the color appears.” As much as I enjoy watching the other guys doing this, as far as paint, you and Baremetal are the diamond standard.
Three blubs up! I believe that you have just started a new trend in shooting Redlines. Long or short your videos rock and your restorations keep getting better with every one.
Just when I thought it would be a simple classic VW resto, you again come up with something new. Good work, your paint really elevates you above most other die cast channels.
Well I really like the painting parts heheh.. Gotta try make a name for myself as I learn more things!
@@DiecastResurrection You definitely have made the other channels notice, seems all of them reference you either by name or with some blubs for Jimmy.
Paint came out really good. By mixing the color into the clearcoat, you made it into kind of a candy coat. Nice and deep, too.
Thanks for the paint tips. This new technique means my restoration efforts will be better than they would be without them. I do like the shorter side of things video wise only because I am now very familiar with the basic steps of this artform and of your techniques. Still learning though, and so many clueless people write reviews that I admire your risk in putting your work out there only to face potential scorn and such. The nature of my job as a tour guide means I get reviewed constantly, and it's 90-95% positive, but mgmt overvalues the negative. So continue having fun with your toys, and thanks for sharing your experience with us. I'd say,"Blub, blub, blub...", but I work on a boat...and it's not a good sound on a boat. Hysterical when Time Rider gave you the shout out though!
Sweet resto! Good idea mixing the clear with the colour, spectrflame is basically mostly clear with a bit of little bit of translucent pigment in it anyway.
If shorter videos are better for the channel then I say go for it!! HOWEVER! I still wanna see the satisfying blistering of the paint 🤤
I disagree, I like much more in depth videos, more details, more minutia, more length just means more blubs.
Coloring the clear was a great idea. Finish looks perfect to me !
I love how you come up with new methods and creative options. Excellent job!
Hi, really enjoy your show. I think your restorations and customs are brilliant. I suffer with heart disease and find your easy going style help with my more.... anxious moments ! I look forward to hopefully many more resto's. many thanks from England.
The Blub Bug! Love the spectra flame. Looks sooo cool! Blubs for Jimmy.👍🏻👍🏻
I think it's great the way you experiment with different paint techniques and achieve superb results ! That one is so simple and looks first class. Thanks for posting
I love these old Type 1s. Always have, especially when they're heavily modded. The only Type 1 mod that I didn't like was the one that looked like it had those big Rolls Royce grilles. Baja Bugs were my favorite by a long way.
Nice job with the new paint technique. I never noticed it before, but this Custom VW Beetle doesn't have any body lines for the doors. I didn't notice it until you had the paint stripped, polished with the brass wheel, and finally when you were hand polishing it because you didn't want the brass wheel scratches to bleed through the color. Lol... You were a few seconds away from paint when it hit me. Naturally I had to pause the video, open the browser, Google the car and weed through a bunch of the latest version of the Custom Beetle, which I also happen to like, to find a few of the original car. Anyway, I'm kind of glad you decided to just restore this one and not alter it.
I hope some of these sweet rides have 8 tracks so Jimmy can listen to his favorite band Blub-erboy. EVERYONE'S WATCHIN' TO SEE WHAT YOU'LL DO.....
Another great restoration! Love the color. Nice job
Looks beautiful!
They do make a clear Spectra Flame, which is great for clear coating a colored Spectra Flame paint job.
Of course, your new method looks like it worked beautifully. Maybe you've hit on a better way to use transparent urethane paints?
Great idea using the paint with the clear coat. Kudos!
I'm not a big bug fan but that color makes this car look amazing!
Awesome job as always!! Great color 👍
Paint came out great. Experimentation is key to achieve better and better results.
Nice restoration of the VW, well done!!...Bill
You've added music to the paint stripping process, cool.👍 I'd like to request Freebird for the next vid... Kidding 😁
Beautiful work! love the video. Thanks for posting.
Paint turned out great. 1st time I have seen it done like that. Great Resto👍👍👍
Colour came out great with your new technique....Super nice resto👍
Nice work! Perfect color matching on this one. I'm stoked in trying this paint method on my next car. I always thought it was hard to color match the SpectraFlame purple and this new method of yours might be the key in getting the proper purple.
I love the blub blub blue shirt! 😂. But other people won’t get the shirt sadly, because they do not know this great UA-camr. 😔
The blue windows suit that colour really well.
Excellent work, as always.
8:32...."that's what she said". I love watching your vids cause you always try and expand your technique. The new way of Spectraflaming (what.... it's a perfectly cromulant word) looks way more true to the original. Another awesome job.
Wow nice finish!!!
Great video with fantastic results on the Bug!!!
wow, you got the colour spot on, looks factory!
I’m glad the first recommended video was this one. UA-cam finally knows what I want to see, your videos :>
when i saw the length of the original 51 minute upload, i was expecting a really in depth restoration video!
still, a great job, yr best restoration yet.
Beautiful color. Love the bugs.
Great job. Love the paint job. Love Volkswagens
A much richer color, nice one Diecast.
Great Job Ace that color really pops , just go with your flow , your own flow 👍✌
Fantástico!!💚
Loving that color!!
Great job. Reminded me of a '71 Superbeetle I once owned!
Thanks for the re-upload! Nice to see in HD! As always, great work!
OG resto. Very refreshing!
This turned out awesome. I like the new technique for sure. Man these beetles are getting tough to find at a decent price. Now I'm inspired to search even harder. Thanks.
Great job! Love the way you got to the colour.
I like the burnout at 0:35!
Car came out nice.
Came out looking fantastic. I really like how you keep looking for different ways to do things. I wonder how Spectraflame/clear mix would look over a copper plated model?
Think I had like 5 of these as a kid, wish I kept them.
Your video editing is starting to tighten up quite nicely.
Nice job. It'd be cool to see the red one and the orange one side by side
I'll be honest, when I started watching these redline resto videos (and not long after I'd gotten my actual '71 Super Beetle,) I started daydreaming about putting together a twin-engine VW gasser with two blown Type 1 engines in the front, crank-to-crank. I don't think I could ever actually afford to do such a thing and keeping them both running the same would be an absolute pain, but it's fun to think about.
I was able to see this last night before you pulled it. I was wondering why it was an hour long. I was FF to different spots thinking you had some secret video in there somewhere... haahaa. Good stuff. It turned out great!
Love the color!
Very nice,, I really like the paint technique.. great video!!
Nice paint, good idea for durability.
Volkswagen Drag Beetles look so badass vrom vroom
"One easy screw and we're done." Sounds like the description of a honeymoon.
I noticed that you changed your video style a bit. I like the pace. Please don’t forget some of your yakking is needed to. We need your lines about Jimmy and such. It’s part of what makes your videos yours. The new paint style came out awesome. Car looked great. You’ve come along way sir. Keep up the good work!
BEAUTIFUL!
8:30 (Screeeeech!) Wait, what? "...and then one easy screw, and we're done." LMFAO
Super taf cool elle les top 😊
I had one of these, in a greenish blue color, as a kid back in the late '60s. Cool!
Vern does watching this video make you feel Vintage as well? hahah
@@DiecastResurrection Vintage no, old yes. :) There was a mom and pop toy store a couple towns over when I was a kid. I had every one of the "Sweet" 16 cars back in '68 at about $.75 each. Had no idea they'd be worth money some day, they were just cool to play with and run on the old orange track as long as I could make them.
kool , thanx ....finally my favorite all time Hot wheel....soooo nice Rock onnn
Robert
Great restoration.
Great job!!! And yeah much better paint job ✊🏽...
Watching with my morning coffee. Great way to wake up.
Hey bub again fantastic work man!
I think that you came up with a cool idea in the paint process.. It shows very nice dude, and man that is BOSS!
Top job Dude. I always put a bit of colour in my acrylic clear when I seal the paint, even when doing flat colours. Makes the colour a lot deeper when I hit it with the final coat of rattle can clear. it was something I learned when I worked for Honda UK in the paint department :)
Nicely done!! Love the color :D
Anyone who wonders why the engine is not in the back didn't have Hot Wheels as a kid. I have a green enamel HK one from my childhood. (I had a blue 10 year old 1971 real one when I was a student. It sucked.) Once again super awesome job on that restoration. I can't help on the Patreon thing but I just got my "Brake fluid can suck it" long sleeve T today. Keep up the great work.
Man that's awesome, thank you for the support. I hope you enjoy your shirt! No worries with the Patreon thing, all the spots are filling up fast for Jimmy's Car Clubs.
Blu blu blu blu. Ja ja ja 😁🖒 buen vídeo bro. Bonita pieza te quedo de lujo. Eres un profesional un trabajo limpio y bien hecho. Bendiciones y un fuerte abrazo. Deja tu like si te gustó. 👍😁🖒
Feelin’ inspired to do a custom on a crusty Matchbox Beetle ... love the orange!
Loving the orange! Need to see it in some candy soon!
That's the way it should be done👍🤜
Great job man!paint job makes the car
Cool dub. Love the colour, and if it works for you, don’t change it. Thanks for sharing, take care as always from South Africa
This way looks a lot better than the old way. Be nice to see some of the lighter blues and greens done this wet too
Sweet.
you hit the color match perfect Sir....nice job...
Thanks Thomas, its pretty easy when you have way more coats to work with :D
Yes that looks way better with more layers of paint. Love those bugs!!!
Brilliant man. Very sweet.
That method looks much better than the original way you sprayed it. Gave it a better candy look. After all when you spray real candy on a car you build it up gradually. If you lay it on too think it gets too dark and you can get striping.
Im very pleased with the results, I look forward to using more spectraflame now. I was avoiding it for a while there hehe
Great resto as always man! I was thinking.... If you uses this idea of mixing exoectraflame with clearcoat you can tint windshields on your customs
Great method! Ill be sure to give this a try :D
ola amigo muy buena restauración wow la pintura queso fabulosa felicitaciones 👌👍🥇👍
Cool resto.
You do a good job mate 👍
I agree with you
This is a better way to shoot with spectra flame
Awesome brah!! Blub..blub..blub..
Hells ya! The paint looks miles better as a tinted clear coat, both colour and texture wise. I think you Might be onto something........like another paint sponsor...;)
Nice resto
Looks great..Love the video..
Did my first hot wheels customization today with a 32 Ford coupe, usually just build plastic models or mess around with 1 32 scale diecast
Very very very nice!!!
I've seen quite a number of real-life, front-engined VW bugs that people have customised for racing at various track days. I'm not sure what the thinking is for doing it, but is sure looks cool.
Probably need some weight up front to keep the nose down when you get into big power lol
Very sweet restore 👍🏻🔥🤘🏻
Hello! I made an error in editing yesterday that made the video an hour long so I had to fix and re-post! This is another short one, I'm not trying to be hasty, just collecting analytics data to Improve the channel. Have a good day Fam!
I watched this last night....the entire 1+ hour of it. Was sure you were taking my advice for a longer video. But then it went black. So I watched the entire thing hoping there would be a silly Life of Jimmy show at the end. So disappointed. heheheh
Reh3d Zone hahahhahha. Ohh man sorry! There was a one second clip that I didn’t see that made the video so long. No life of jimmy this time hehhehe. I appreciate that watchtime boost!
@@DiecastResurrection Anything for the best diecast show on the interwebs! #LifeOfJimmy
Me editing one of my videos would be a great comedy in itself. First remembering to record, then getting it to a watchable 10-12 minutes ...... ugh ! 🤬
Thanks some getting used to! haha Ive been there.. and probably still am there..
