@@MiloFarms awesome. Also I can't find the wiring from the battery to the existing plug in the harness. Where did you get that from? None of the schematics I've seen even show it.

The best bet is probably to take the part numbers and search ebay to find them. The oem starter and solenoid can be substituted with an aftermarket one which I linked in the description.

What's the difference between the 8DS-W8180-15-KT kit (2000 model) vs. the 8DS-W8180-21-KT (2002) kit? The 15 version can be had for $389.00, whereas the 21 version is $596.00? What's the difference? I have a 2002 model and would love to save a couple hundred...

I do not know the specifics. I would go to www.yamahasportsplaza.com/oemparts/a/yam/5003bf95f8700212fc840ee3/alternate-starter-kit and compare the parts included in each kit to see what the difference is. I bet its something minor.

In answer: There is no difference. The last two digits represent the version of the kit. In bad news, I went to pull my clutch after getting all the parts only to discover the original owner replaced it with a Phazer II clutch that doesn't have bolt holes, or any provision, for mounting the ring gear.
