I don't think it's unintentional, you can see Wayne doing it in some of the live videos. I think it's just to make it slightly easier to play while doing vocals, at least for his part. It sounds like it might actually be that only his part does that where Koichi doesn't use the open A string at all. For such a simple song the guitar parts are surprisingly intricate.
@@halo091 A#|-5--------5--------5--| F|-5--------5--------5--| C|----0-0-----0-0------| Basically the same riff as the chorus just with the low root removed on the D# power chord.
It's so difficult to distinguish the 3 from the 5 when it starts alternating on the original track from so much distortion. This song is a real puzzle to figure out.
There's a couple videos and a bunch of live shows of them playing the song, and i never seen them play the 5 on the main riff, maybe it's because of the many layers of guitars that makes it sound like they played the 5 on the original, but i really don't think they did
@@eduardoculpi5783 I watched a video from 2013 of him playing and he was not in a drop tuning. When Wayne was switching between chords, it looked like he would hit the A string which would explain the random notes.
Me and my dad were having a bit of a disagreement on how to play this song. He thinks that the verse riff is 0-0-3 repeated, while I think the verse riff is 0-5-3 repeated. Could anyone tell me which is the real riff???
I'm sure it's just 0-0-3 judging by all the live videos, it's not very practical to play 0-5-3 on the C standard tuning they play in. The confusion might be because Wayne lets the A string ring out when changing chords, as mentioned by 1983electric.
@@eduardoculpi5783 I see. Thanks for letting me know lol I was guessing my dad was right because, you know, he was kinda alive when the song was made 😂
@@kiufkhgdiyrsiytgf2785 Few months late but after a lot of listening to this and watching live footage I'm about 95% sure that in between the regular 02xxxx and 35xxxx power chords, they're hitting both E and A strings open the first time. So the main riff goes like this; 02 00 35 02 02 00 35 Then the second half of the chorus changes it up slightly to 35 02 02 35 02 02 35

I got so many people into this stuff mid 2000's at a shop I worked at.
Fun music.
Yeah you push it
Very cool!
Anyone else just sing along with this?
I think he is unintentionally making the open A string sound when switch between chords. I think that's what has me tripping.
1983electric I think your right
When ?

Hey guys. How to tune guitar strings as in the original Wisconsin Death Trip album?
Wayne and Koichi had their guitars tuned to C standard tuning, so from lowest to highest string order: C - F - A# - D# - G - C
@@eduardoculpi5783 thank you
