70 dB = Outdoor air conditioner
75 dB = Vacuum cleaner or hair dryer
While sound perception varies, the environment where the generator is installed plays a big role. For instance, generators near concrete walls can amplify noise due to sound reflection, while installations on grass or softer surfaces tend to absorb and reduce the sound. Asphalt or hard surfaces may not dampen the sound as well.

I used a decibel meter that I've used for years during fire alarm verifications and it came up with a very comparable result.
I decided to do the video with the phone app as it would be easier to read if captured by the camera. And the app had averages displayed
Overall I agree with your comment. However in this case the app did a reasonable job

You need to use a real db meter for these tests. Iphone apps are notorious for being inaccurate
