- A video of the this dosa printer has been making the rounds on social media
At Chennai’s Evochef office, the dosa printing machine rolls out eight uniform dosas in quick succession
A staffer refills its 700 ml cartridge with freshly-ground batter
The cartridge moves to coat the machine’s hot roller with batter
It is then pushed out onto a portable tray as a crisp rectangle
Though oil is not required, it can be drizzled over the dosa roller as it cooks
VML Senthilnathan is the Founder of Evochef and the creator of what is being called the ‘world’s first portable dosa printer’
Senthilnathan worked in butterfly's R&D and has an expertise in kitchen appliances
He spent over three years working on creating Evochef, a smart kitchen automation company
He says that the problem in making dosas is that the cook has to stand near a stove for a long time
But using this machine, dosas will be ready at the press of just a few buttons
The dosa printer is priced at Rs. 15,999
It only needs a plug point and can be operated anywhere
This makes it ideal for small kitchens and offices
The dosa printer has been undergoing testing with family and friends, behind closed doors
However, 300 of these have already been sold online
Customers say that they have made all kinds of dosas - rava, ragi, bajra and even pancakes. Evochef is now exporting globally.

Butterfly had brought out a similar product years ago called the Butterfly Dosa Master. Senthil has used the same design and just refined it a bit. Not a surprise considering he worked at Butterfly.
