Such graceful movements, I can't imagine being able to maintain such perfect form for such a long period of time. I admire his muscle control and endurance. He looks so at peace during the demonstration too!
Yang-style tai chi looks peaceful, mindful and intentional. Watching Fu move gracefully through these moves reminded me of the power of energy, and the fact that we are made up of constantly moving energized bodies! These moves could definitely become meditative after some time, and help regulate mood and decrease anxiety.
Watching Fu move with such effortless and such graceful movements puts me at a calm state, almost as if I am meditating. It's like you can almost see the energy flowing through Fu.
What I find most interesting regarding this video is how useful Tai Chi can be to people. It is such a disciplined practice that helps to alleviate stress and improve mindfulness.
This practice is beautiful. It relaxes the mind, slows the heart, increases breathing, and creates spacial awareness. This is beneficial for those who live busy lives, to slow down and to take time for stress relief!
Being in tune with yourself is a good way to lower your stress. They way they move in this video is beautiful and I am sure it took a lot of practice to be so graceful. We all need to take timeouts for our mental health.
The slow movements create a type of peaceful and stress reduced atmosphere. It shows how you have to be patient and understand thoroughly what is happening with the surrounding vs. the body.
Having taken a tai chi class in undergraduate education, the flow and energy used throughout tai chi is very mindful. You can see how he is using his mind to flow through his practice with his own energy in mind
I was enrolled in several Tai Chi classes years ago, and it feels comparable to ballet classes because you must use strength while showing ease in your movements.
This video was a wonderful demonstration of Tai Chi. I have been interested in practicing Tai Chi, but was not really sure what the practice entailed. This video has given me some idea of what to expect from a Yang Style Tai Chi class.
I found it interesting to way how each movement he made was leading into the next movement. Every movement just seemed to flow into the next, almost like he was dancing. His movements were so rhythmic and balanced and showed great control and concentration on what he was doing.
The constant movement and consistent pace that he keeps makes it evident that he is in control of his body. This seems like a great low impact exercise, and also seems very relaxing.
The person featured in this video demonstrates very fluid body motions and it shows that they put great thought and concentration into every single move they make. I think this demonstrates that they have put a lot of time and energy into this practice over the years and has reached the point of mastery.
The individual practicing the movements appears to have great concentration and mindfulness throughout. The ways he moves with such fluidity and balance further shows his level of connectedness to the world around him.
This is very relaxing to watch, every movement seems to be effortless. This seems like something that can help the mind-body connection and helps to de-stress.
One thing I noticed is how the practice is based on continues movement. He was always purposefully moving either his upper or lower body or both, which requires high levels of concentration and balance. After watching this and trying to imitate the movements I see why people love Tai Chi.. I can feel it working my muscles, improving my focus, and relieving joint pain.
Fu Zhongwen is very graceful in his practice, it reminds me of a dance. However, I can also see how being in tune with the body, energy, mind, and environment can create an optimal martial artist. This practice truly reminds me of Yin and Yang between the graceful movements and fighting mechanisms developed in each step.
His mindfulness and presence are very evident in his practice because he is always looking out toward his hands and following them. He is also very agile and has great postural control and balance which really impressed me for this duration of time.
This practice emulates the importance of being in the present. It is a way to slow down and focus on the individual movements and the connection of one movement to the next. The mindfulness of Tai chi can help alleviate chronic stress, hypertension, chronic pain, etc. in the lives of many. Tai chi brings a flow of energy through mindful movements which can also be useful for arthritis and cardiovascular disease. This practice emphasizes balance and harmony through continuous slow movements, rhythmic flexion of the lower limbs, extension of the upper body, the symmetrical arm motion, and the constant shifting of weight.
His movements are so fluid, slow and calming. It would take a lot of practice to be as fluid and focused as he is! I can see how this would be relaxing and a form a meditation.
The use of his arms and legs shows that he's in balance and the flow of energy is relaxing and it looks peaceful. He is also very focused on his craft which requires strength and determination
It's very interesting watching his movements. He never actually stops moving, each of his movements lead into the next which has a very serine quality to it.
The ease with which Sifu Fu Zhongwen flows with his energy and the space which surrounds him, is remarkable. It is as if he is move with the environment, not against it.
It was interesting to watch the indiviudal's movements and how they all flow together. You can tell he has great concentration with a mind and body connection.
His Tai Chi moves are so subtle and effortless, yet you can definately see his energy and interaction with the environment. I agree with the post below me, the whole exercise does remind me of ocean waves, so effortless, but still so powerful. Looks very relaxing!
I have never seen tai chi performed before. I have heard of the practice, but never actually knew what it was. The individual is so focused and in the present moment. This also seems like a very creative outlet as the individual makes a specific movement that feels right to him at that moment in time. It is also looks so peaceful as each movement is performed so slowly and calmly, which is very interesting to observe.
Tai Chi movements remind me of the ocean waves. His fluid motions from each position seem effortless. I feel like tai chi takes patients and complete mindfulness to understand how the effects of the movements.
His energy is so consistent and thoughtful. It appears as if he is moving through water. I've never seen tai chi performed w/ a prop, so the stick/flag item at the end of the video was an interesting addition for me.
I found that simply watching this video relaxed me, so I can only imagine how actually preforming the movements would lower my stress and ultimately improve my health. The slow movements are relaxing and peaceful, yet still require muscle so Tai Chi can be a great form of low impact exercise.

This movement is interesting because it is really shows how intentional each movement is. I agree that I think this movement is about being present and focusing on every little movement of each individual body part and muscle. Along with a focus on your breath.
The continuous flow of movements demonstrates the flow of energy within ourselves. Combined with breathing, you can almost trace the flow of negative energy leaving the body and the pull of positive energy with each inhalation.
You can tell that he has a very strong mind and body connection, just by the way he is moving very fluidly. All that matters is the movement, and the concentration of the movement. Without hesitation, his body knows what to do before the next movement is comepleted.
This is excellent, thank you for the chance to see this form. Also, think of this man's age, size, and then look at his feet and how he creates his hands via the waist. A Master.....
I think this is very interesting because of the distressing nature of the movements. In American culture, everyone is focused on hustle and constantly working on something, but slowing down and controlling movements can be extremely beneficial in many ways.
These movements look pretty complex to me! I can't imagine moving so slowly and keeping such a good balance simultaneously. I can barely sit still for too long without texting, checking social media, etc. Watching this video really gets me thinking that I need to take time out of my day to relax and just breathe! Maybe even do some of the simpler moves.
I can see why this is called meditative movement. It appears as though he is very focused and each move is with intentional purpose. Would like to learn this!
I see him taking power from within, and extracting it to the outside world. In turn, I watch him grab onto energy, and bring it inside of himself. He seems to be getting rid of the negative energy and replacing it with positive energy
this guys form is exactly like I have learnt not stiff and rigid like the Beijing style of Tai Chi that is only good as an aerobic exercise I wonder if he knows all the applications that really impresses me
I think that movement requires a lot of skills and lots of patience. I don't know if I could do it for such a long time. Maybe that is why I am not into meditation. I do think that it is good for your health: mental and physical
Christina S T'ai Chi Chuan is a supreme martial art, in the truest sense. But there are many different schools and traditions, as can be sene by the many You Tube videos on it!
Not hard enough? You are aware tai chi is an internal art? The power is both invisible and very soft. Study tai chi and you may eventually come to understand this. My form is similar and I have thrown a 230 pound man 10 feet while remaining light as a feather through the proper use of sensitivity, timing and chi. In sparring I have weathered ferocious attacks while remaining light as a feather. There are many hard styles - this is not one of them.
Sifu Fu Zhongwen is so graceful and purposeful in his movements. Watching him gave me such a peaceful and calming effect.

I think that Tai CHi is one of the most beautiful practices, it could definitely lower stress levels and lower risk for stress-based disease!
