I thought Bongi lost the ball too, but the ref ruled that it was hit by the defender's knee and went backwards and all Bongi had to do was fall on it and apply downward pressure. Sam cane trapped colby in the ruck to get the penalty which lead to the ABs 1st try......so swings and roundabouts! The plane flying overhead was coincidental, definitely not planned to do so during the haka!

The first try from AB shouldn't have been allowed. The lifters were in front of the ball carrier. The ref had a bit of a shocker against both teams. But no ref goes into a game looking to make mistakes... it just added to the occasion
Key turning point was the 67th minute penalty against Cortez Ratima. Either the All Blacks had successfully counter-rucked meaning Ratima was entitled to step over the player and pick up the ball or he came around offside. The Ref appeared to see it as a counter ruck as he didn’t blow his whistle initially but did when he clearly got a call from the TMO. From that penalty the Boks kicked to the corner set a maul which led to Ofa Tu’ungafasi getting yellow carded. Boks then scored 2 tries in the forwards while Tu’ungafasi was in the bin to go from 10 points behind to 4 points in front. That was the game. Upon review it looks like the TMO got the Ratima call wrong. Even worse it was a call that the TMO didn't need to make ..... again a TMO interfering when not needed. Especially poor when he should have involved himself in the Boks first try but didn’t. Rugby still has a huge problem with it's officiating.
@Wildkard Yes, I agree absolutely. Tu'ungafasi made a dumb decision for the yellow card. But the Boks would not have been in the position to create the pressure to force that bad decision from Tu’ungafasi without getting the Ratima penalty, which enabled them to kick to the corner. Just pointing out it was a key moment / turning point when the match got away from an AB perspective

the way to beat New Zealand, is don't take the easy 3 points because they always come back and score 7 points, you will see New Zealand when ever you at their try line they don't mind giving you 3 points so they give penalty rather than you scoring 7 points, do the math they win teams when scoring 7 points and then teams take 3 points and always stay behind them on score board, to beat them is to always go for 7 points against them and put them under score board pressure , they unfortunately don't handle pressure well, they like putting other teams under pressure , sorry for essay lol
@@kesivan It’s not a good point, we won this game, and we went for touch more than poles. It’s a test match, you can’t go for touch every time, it’s incredibly dumb.
@@jameswyatt4443 you are right. There has to be careful choices made regarding touch vs poles and you can't go for touch every time.. but I do believe the boks were playing it too safe going for poles at the wrong times at least twice. But the bokke were driving me up the wall. When you have huge momentum, and they have infringed near their try line, you know that with nz they will infringe again. It's their tactic. They infringe to prevent trys. So you kick for the corner and force the to infringe again. Its also a Maldives morale sink, defending endlessly in your 22, losing a player abd conceding a try. Look what happened in the final 20 when sa stopped going for poles and went to the corner. They turned the game right around with pressure leading to infringements, yellow card, demoralised nz and two rapid tries. We should have done the same thing all game. Take 3 when in the middle of the park, when they infringe in their 22, remind the ref that they are repeat offenders by forcing them to offend again.
Great summary of the game, enjoy your style. FYI Elton Jantjies kicked a drop goal against the ABs in 2021 in Aus under Rassie. He also slotted the winning penalty in the 80th in the same game.
I don’t recall that one, but your point is spot on. There are Boks that can drop goals, they should work on that as a strategy to taking quick points. 👍

Let's be honest, that wasn't a try...Bongi lost it. But that being said, the amount of penalties in the ABs 22 and also scrum infringements left by the ref was just absolutely staggering to me ! ABs had at least 4 clear scrum penalties against them.
The Springboks can play a lot better. I don’t know that the All Blacks can do much more than that. If the Boks go full strength in CT, a more comfortable win could be on the cards.

GG. I thought SA's global defence at the ruck is what sets them apart at the moment. De Allende jackling in a split second was crazy. I cant believe you thought there was no separation on that knock on from that angle lol, genuinely think there is no questions from either side that was clearly lost. Beaudy lost a bit of composure at the end with his kicking away, just needed to squeeze with ball in hand. What a battle.
Bongi might have knocked on the ball. Lets do some math; Deduct that try -5 (score now reads SA 26 - 27 ABS). Then also deduct the kick Mckenzie took after the timer ran out -2 (SA 26 - 25 ABS)
Here's why Bongi's try was allowed: 1. from that angle there is no clear separation between his arm and the ball. Rules (Union and League): Grounding the ball in both codes means either holding it and touching it to the ground in-goal, or placing hand, arm or front of body between waist and neck (the front torso) on top of the ball which is on the ground in-goal. A player does not need to be holding the ball to ground it. If the ball is on the ground or just above it, it can be touched to the ground with a hand, arm or front torso. Match officials interpret dropping the ball in-goal as a knock-on, and disallow a try. For a try to be awarded, they consider whether the player had the intention to ground the ball and was in control of the ball when he did. Grounding of the ball can be instantaneous, it does not matter if the player immediately lets go and the ball then bounces forward.
I don't think the ref could have seen from his angle. The tmo should have intervened if they thought it was lose forward. So let's assume it was deemed to be straight down.
@@floydkingi4364 Read the rules listed and tell me why the try shouldn't be awarded. The TMO needs concrete evidence to over-rule an on-field decision.

Pollard dropped a drop goal against NZ in 2019 RWC game against NZ. Jantjies also had a drop against NZ in 2021, but we're told Nienaber was the coach then😂
Fair play South Africa, even though it stings saying that. Firstly, I think these players played well: -Jordie Barrett (With that satisfying intercept try, at the 2nd half.) -Caleb Clarke (scoring 2 times) -Codie Taylor (His line-outs was on-point this time) -TJ Paranra (With that awesome grabba kick-to-touch) Secondly the players that played poorly was: -Damien Mckenzie, as he had (2/4 kicks) -Bauden Barrett, as he kicked out of the fool like twice. -Ofa Tuungafasi, as he got himself sent off. -Asafo Amua. Thirdly, both TMO and Ref did some bizarre calls....Like that 1st South Africa try that shouldn't been given. You can clearly see a clear separation from hand to ball. Then Bongi re-gather it at the end to be able to score it.
the knock on try - now the AB's know what it is like to be on the receiving end like we were for all the years. We learned to have to play the ref too!
If we talking the Bongi try then we have to talk about the first kiwi try off a truck and trailer obstruction - should’ve been a penalty to the Boks not a try to the ABs.
WIthout any question no try - from a Bok fan. What a game for the ages otherwise. All Black rugby is at their best when New Zealanders don't give their team a chance to win

Such rudeness and disrespect shown, bad behaviour.. HAKA is the All Blacks and Maori heritage, culture and their unique way to start the match..what this SA spectator response did was show their arrogance and bad sportsmanship before match.. shame 👎👎
We really did channel the Welsh in that game. Making use of their old dribbling tactics and their Haka strat too, apparently the all blacks live for moments where the challenge is reciprocated. It’s also a rerun of the World Cup final back in 1995, which was 29 years ago. Secondly Bongi’s try was saved because his arm was in front of the ball, the real question I had was wether it actually got to the line 😂 I’m also fairly certain we sunk one vs England in the World Cup SF.
More possession, more territory, defenders beaten, metres made, more turnovers won, better ruck percentage, gainline success rate, scrums success and lineout success, all in favour of the Boks. And more points.
I was happy with how the ABs went, Boks were awesome and the Bomb Squad proved their worth while the ABs bench proved they are not up to scratch. The Try being awarded was BS but it was not where they lost the game. Bring on next week!
1st try very questionable , double banking at the maul.,😂😂and kick awarded after time ran out. 😂 * 22m lineout we were supposed to get but NZ got a scrum at half way?? *penalty Advantage, after 2 back to back penalties. Should have blown the knock on and awarded a Penalty try with a yellow card And your signature move- foward pass and ref just ignored it🤣 Happy crying and moaning new Zealand babies 😩🤣🤣🤣
NZ were ten points ahead after the 60 min mark. Even despite that debatable try, NZ should never had given SA a sniff at a win. But the boks pulled through. If you want to talk about "what if's" then there are many situations where the officiating was bad for both sides. Not to mention the boks gave an insane amount of penalties away. If anything, I could say NZ was *lucky* the boks gave so many free penalties. The better team won, suck it up or cry me a river.

On the Bongi try: While it can understandably be seen by many that the Bok hooker is the one who knocks the ball on in this case, it is in fact Barrett who does. Law 11.2 states: It is a knock-on when a player, in tackling or attempting to tackle an opponent, makes contact with the ball and the ball goes forward. Effectively, the ball has gone backwards out of the Bok hooker’s hands but forwards out of Barrett’s. There is an argument that Mbonambi is ‘not in control of the ball’ when he grounds it but that is not a factor as per World Rugby’s laws around grounding the ball. The laws read: The ball can be grounded in in-goal: a. By holding it and touching the ground with it; or b. By pressing down on it with a hand or hands, arm or arms, or the front of the player’s body from waist to neck

Wildkard! You’re bloody fabulous 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Rugby still has a huge problem with it's officiating.
cant blame ratima call for conceeding the yellow card mate. should not have happened regardless of the earlier referee decision.
@Wildkard Yes, I agree absolutely. Tu'ungafasi made a dumb decision for the yellow card. But the Boks would not have been in the position to create the pressure to force that bad decision from Tu’ungafasi without getting the Ratima penalty, which enabled them to kick to the corner.

the way to beat New Zealand, is don't take the easy 3 points because they always come back and score 7 points, you will see New Zealand when ever you at their try line they don't mind giving you 3 points so they give penalty rather than you scoring 7 points, do the math they win teams when scoring 7 points and then teams take 3 points and always stay behind them on score board, to beat them is to always go for 7 points against them and put them under score board pressure , they unfortunately don't handle pressure well, they like putting other teams under pressure , sorry for essay lol

Bongi might have knocked on the ball. Lets do some math; Deduct that try -5 (score now reads SA 26 - 27 ABS). Then also deduct the kick Mckenzie took after the timer ran out -2 (SA 26 - 25 ABS)
😅🤣🤣rugby math!
Good, very good, excellent point made. That's just shows the evolution, we still won with missed drop goals..😅
Here's why Bongi's try was allowed:
1. from that angle there is no clear separation between his arm and the ball.
Rules (Union and League):
Grounding the ball in both codes means either holding it and touching it to the ground in-goal, or placing hand, arm or front of body between waist and neck (the front torso) on top of the ball which is on the ground in-goal.
Grounding of the ball can be instantaneous, it does not matter if the player immediately lets go and the ball then bounces forward.
clear and obvious separating is required but the referee should have done an official review
@@Wildkard The TMO needs hard evidence to over-rule an on-field decision. I am sure the TMO checked and found nothing clear and obvious.

Fair play South Africa, even though it stings saying that.
Firstly, I think these players played well:
-Jordie Barrett (With that satisfying intercept try, at the 2nd half.)
-Caleb Clarke (scoring 2 times)
-Codie Taylor (His line-outs was on-point this time)
-TJ Paranra (With that awesome grabba kick-to-touch)
Secondly the players that played poorly was:
-Damien Mckenzie, as he had (2/4 kicks)
-Bauden Barrett, as he kicked out of the fool like twice.
-Ofa Tuungafasi, as he got himself sent off.
-Asafo Amua.
Thirdly, both TMO and Ref did some bizarre calls....Like that 1st South Africa try that shouldn't been given. You can clearly see a clear separation from hand to ball. Then Bongi re-gather it at the end to be able to score it.
i thought dmac was alright, he did execute the game plan that was given to him decently, although it was predictable kicking

The first All Blacks try, the lifters were in front of the ball carrier to set up the maul. Blatantly illegal, so cry some more about it.
1st try very
questionable , double banking at the maul.,😂😂and kick awarded after time ran out. 😂
* 22m lineout we were
supposed to get but NZ got a scrum at half way??
*penalty Advantage, after 2 back to back penalties.
Should have blown the knock on and awarded a Penalty try with a yellow card
And your signature move- foward pass and ref just ignored it🤣
Happy crying and moaning new Zealand babies 😩🤣🤣🤣
NZ were ten points ahead after the 60 min mark. Even despite that debatable try, NZ should never had given SA a sniff at a win. But the boks pulled through. If you want to talk about "what if's" then there are many situations where the officiating was bad for both sides. Not to mention the boks gave an insane amount of penalties away. If anything, I could say NZ was *lucky* the boks gave so many free penalties. The better team won, suck it up or cry me a river.
@@Bongiduma-qc4zm yeah, disrespectful behavior towards the HAKA... Not good showcase for SA sportsmanship playing music over the HAKA and having plane flying over when they know the HAKA is done... that's just plain nasty from this NZ baby 😜🤪
Rassie is bringing new brilliant players into the team blending with experienced players. Imagine what this team will be like at the next World cup. BTW Springbok jersey looks great. Proudly 🇿🇦
thanks mate its a good and old one
South Africans needs to stop smelling our own farts and get real. We didn't deserve that win. Poor refereeing saved our bacon. We keep playing for 3 points while they play for 7. Malcolms arrows is a huge issue. We gifted them two tries from silly blunders. I have never been so upset after a win in my life.
The Boks had more possession, territory, run metres, defenders beaten, a higher ruck success rate, more lineouts won, higher scrum rate, more turnovers won, a better tackle percentage, more gainline carries and gainline success rate, and conceded fewer penalties. We deserved to win. The All Blacks were lucky that the ball never bounced in favour of the Boks from all of Sacha’s grubbers for the wingers. Another day and Kolbe and Arendse both score.
You need to watch the game again, there first try also wasn't a try of the AB . A team coming back like that to win a game shows just what class team they are
@@awf-l3684 That doesn't negate any of the points I mentioned. We were one ref decision away from losing and we should not have been in that situation
its alright mate look at it this way. its normally the all blacks that claw back a 10pt deficit, and springboks did it tonight so that was very good
Calm down, We came back from a 10 point deficit against the All blacks with less than 20 min to play, that's something to be proud of not Angry
It was truly a clash of giants (titans) what a game...maar hulle weti wat ons weti...
Freedom cup is on the line next week, whoever wins next week, has the trophy
You make good points Wildcard! Sasha/Fassi was pure class! AB's were good, but Boks were just brilliant and the composure...Wow!! Not even D Macs skillfull.kicking display could get them a win. But never write off the Men in Black... Boks Forever!!!!❤❤❤❤
Fassi was ok, not great. He was caught out of position multiple times early in the first half.
@@sandorclegane3658 he will only get better
On the Bongi try:
While it can understandably be seen by many that the Bok hooker is the one who knocks the ball on in this case, it is in fact Barrett who does.
Not 100% sure thats correct cos in the case of scoring a try you must have no seperation of the ball regardless of who knocks it out of your hand
Wildcard baby! Yeehaw!
Handré Pollard nailed one drop Goal against the ABs in the opener at the 2019 World Cup that the only successful drop goal I know of under Rassie's Coaching
True. Apparently willemse did one in 2022 agsinst england
