this is amazing, what I find more interesting is that by the way he says it at the end, you can tell out of all the things in the world he misses seeing the most, it's facial ques, like a smile, or a frown. I think we all take that for granted.

The Center is proud to announce that we have just graduated our 38th class and to date, students have been hired by companies such as Sheraton, Holiday Inn, Marriott, Hyatt, MGM Grand, Hampton Hotels, Disney World and Travis Air Force Base as well as other business. We have also graduated students from over 32 states and we have an international presence, welcoming students from Jamaica, Canada and Armenia!

This works because it is displaying an actual picture in the form of electrical impulses, Such as if you got a painting that had thick parts of paint that defined each object you would be able to define the shapes on it, you cant do that with sound because sound is a wave.

We operate three 10 week classes in Buffalo and all of our training is FREE to the individual. We also offer one training session per year off site as well. So far we’ve been to Orlando Florida, Albany New York and Las Vegas, Nevada. All of our students participate in a hands-on externship and often many students are hired from the same externship company!

Graduates of our one-of-a-kind program are computer-literate, equipped with a thorough knowledge of industry standards, and ready for successful, long-term careers. Potential employers are hotels, convention centers, travel agents, call centers, etc. I am pleased to report that to date, almost 400 students have achieved a remarkable average job placement rate of approximately 82 %- nearly triple the national employment figures for this population!

it's 2015 - where is this tech? This seems so much simpler and lower cost than bionic eyes and brain implants. And with today's cheap and miniature cameras, hi-resolution should be no problem at all. Even 3rd world countries could afford this on a mass scale.

Guys, this kind of stuff takes years to be perfected, reviewed, be approved for public use, and then made affordable to the public. I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't start seeing people wearing similar devices for another 5-10 years. And that's being generous.

Scientist are already working on better way to make blind see than "tongue-vision". And I think they should concentrate on the synthetisation of neural information . So we will, in the future, add things to normal visual or earing information and maybe cure the blinds.

So awesome. If the technology really does get to the point of the third car picture, blind people should be able to learn to read normal books without a slow speech synthesizer and without having to wait for braille versions, and may even be able to look at websites like this one (though perhaps at very low resolution) by hooking that gadget up to their computers.

@PherVented I imagine the problem isn't the camera, it's finding the sweet spot between electrodes/electrode patterns, the signal, and the brain's capability to rewire itself. It isn't like turning on your laptop webcam.

It can't be rerouting. How could it reroute that fast so the moderator could see? If someone writes on your hand something, you should be able to say what is he writing/drawing and you don't even have to see it. It's imho more like that you feel a circle on your tongue, so you then imagine there is something in form of circle in front of you. And tongue because it is the most sensitive thingy on human body.
Anyway it's a bloody good tool!
