only two minivans ruled the highways in 2003-2004 - ford focus c-max 2.0 tdci and touran 2.0 tdi - very fast (200 km / h not a problem), stable at high speeds and economical.

@@gentzhitia1156 I wrote MINIVANS not VANS. in t4/t5 only 3.2 VR6 can hit 200 km/h and it burns 2x more than Touran/C-max

The lovely PD engine, a torque monster. Had a jetta mk5 with dsg and this engine. Damn, that was fast in the mid range. It does feel it has only 140 horses, but it pulls like a much much stronger engine low down.
I had a lot of test in motor magazines of this engine and in the power bank always offered at least 155 CV. The most powerful was an Octavia with 160 CV and 370 Nm of torque being completely stock....
@@davidcasas3862 yep. It does feel stronger than 140 horses. I have a 180 HP 1.8 tsi and that 2.0 TDI pd doesn't feel any slower than it at low revs. Higher up it is no competition, the tsi just explodes till 6500rpm whereas the diesel runs out of puff
I'm pretty disappointed with the pd105.
So gutless...
It can spin 205 Continentals on dry asphalt, but it may as well be dead in 5th and 6th.
(the spinning may be because of the asphalt's quality, more than the power or tyre's tractions)
@@Random-nf7qb put 195/65 r15 tyres. they are better for 105hp version... 205 are for stronger 140hp 2.0 tdi

Last summer i did 200 Km/h in a straight line with a rented Golf 5 with same engine and power, and with almost 330K Km (not sure tho)

I like this Touran!! I think the first generation of the 2.0 TDI was more powerful than the following common rail generation. Good video!!
Both were available in either a 140 or 170 HP version in the beginning and after 2008 the PD TDI engine was replaced by the CR TDI one
Considering that the dutch national police uses the same car, (although with better brakes and engine) this is an absolute monster.

Last summer I did 204km with my golf Mk5 variant bmm engine 2008. I took the speed reading from navigation. On the Speedo it was over 220.
Not to brag, but astonishingly I did nearly the same in my Touran 1T1 (2004) with the AVQ engine. The speedo is only of by about 5km/h and the speedo was showing 210km/h. I was surprised myself xD

indeed it is. and also is stable on corners. given that is almost 2 ton and quite high car, thats something
dash looks exactly like my golf V, just that they switched clima and radio :D I even have the same engine, but chiptuned to 180 HP / 400 NM. The Power is really nice, but modern cars have way better response times.
Are diesel engines any better at high RPMs?
@@doublesnake18 what do you mean? After the tuning, the power stays a little longer. But usually, it makes sense to shift every diesel below 4,500rpm or even 4,000rpm

I have an 2005 Touran with 2.0 TDI and 140 hp, exactly 200 km/h on GPS System. But: Not funny, because every little air, every Truck you are overtaken gives you an punch from the side. This car ist not build to drive fast (no suprise, it's an Mini-Van).
