This song is taken from "The Yellow Iris", an episode of Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot, with David Suchet. There are two original versions, by Carol Kenyon and Tracy Miller.
Both Ms. Kenyon and Ms. Miller give riveting performances;beautifully informed renderings of the "blues" genre. Hurrah, should there be sheet-music available.
Juan Mitchell I've been looking for the music sheet in vain... I think it was not edited because the original song is very short. Thanks for your comment !
Flora TRIMBORN-KLEIN Do you mean the original versions? The song has never been edited. They can only be heard in the episode of Hercule Poirot: "The yellow iris". Both original versions are magnificent.
I've forgotten you, I never think of you, The way you walked, the way you talked, the things you used to say. I've forgotten you, I never think of you, I couldn't say for sure today Whether your eyes were blue or grey. I've forgotten you, I never think of you, Your smile, your touch, Which meant so much, Somewhere along the way. I've forgotten you, I never think of you, I changed my mind , my love was blind , Now I've forgotten you. I'm through. I'll never think of you Oh, what a lie! I shall think of you, Think of you, Think of you, Till I die.
I came to look for the Hercule Poirot -version, but found this and fell in love! You bring so much more emotion and heartache to this song, I'm in tears! I can't stop watching this over and over again, thank you so much for amazing performance.
This is such a wonderful performance. The feeling you put into it is heartbreaking. The song kills me as it makes me think of my darling husband I lost in 2020 and this rendition outdoes any other. Thank you 💕
Olivier could you please do this again...... I truly love the way you sing this song. I heard thos song thr first time on watching Poriot but you make this song come alive!!!!!!!!
I've read in the comments that you worked this song out by ear by watching The Yellow Iris. That makes you an incredible musician. It's such a beautiful song I was amazed when I found out it wasn't genuinely of the period.
I saw a drama of this song before. A yellow iris is the song I like very much. This song was written for this drama. So I wanted to hear a song without words. Your singing voice is very splendid. Thank you very much. Agatha Christie's Poirot #36 The Yellow Iris 名探偵ポワロ S4#36話 "黄色いアイリス"
As mentioned above the two original versions of this song featuring Carol Kenyon and Tracy Miller are both outstanding. Especially that of Carol Kenyon. You should give it a listen if you haven't yet heard it.
I've been listening to this song for the past 7 years. Whenever anyone asks what my favourite song is I always send them this video. I didn't think any version could be better than the originals but Olivier has done it! I just wish you'd rerecord it with better sound. This song with your voice and a simple piano backing is absolute magic.
Hep özleyince buraya geliyorum ve Hercule lü lokanta sahnesi aklıma geliyor. Bu şarkıyı dinleyince sanki gerçekden mazide o zamanlarda yaşamış gibiyim. Bazen diyorum, ben o asırda yaşamalıymıştım. Bu asır benim asırım değil. Thank you

Oh my goodness what a beautiful song .. so touching.. I want to perform this song. It so speaks to me.. Where can I find the sheet music for it.. your performance of this is so touching.
Thank you so much, Yvonne. Unfortunately there is no sheet music of it. It was never edited. I play it by ear, listening to Hercule Poirot’s Yellow Iris, for which it was composed.

Bonjour, c'est une superbe musique dont la partition est donc plus que difficilement trouvable. Pensez vous pouvoir m'envoyer vos accords d'accompagnement ? Merci d'avance. J'ai retrouvé les premiers accords mais pas tous
Beautiful singing of such a beautiful song. I've looking for the chords to play on guitar and the lyrics (I'm not an english speaker and I'm not sure if I understand correctly every word) and didn't find anything. It seems impossible, it's such a beautiful song, thankyou.
Thank you, Walter! Indeed I didn't find the chords or anything on the web myself. I had to play it by ear. There are probably some differences between original version and mine. Too bad they never edited the song and the score.
@@OlivierMalpas Neil Richardson actually wrote this song and it was written especially for this episode of Poirot (Yellow Iris). He is playing the piano in the Tracy Miller version.

Marianna Sudeva I'am glad you like it. Unfortunately, there is no score of this song, probably because the original version is very short. I play it by ear and transpose it in a suitable tone. Sorry I can't help...
I heard a piece of music on ClassicFM this morning and some of the phrases immediately reminded me of "I've Forgotten You". The composer was Vittorio Monti, and it's called Czardas. Is it possible that this was the source of the melody?@@OlivierMalpas
@@motcouk I know Czardas very well. I don’t think it has inspired this song but you never know. With the reduced number of tones existing, it seems clear that some musical phrases sometimes sound similar to others, even if they were not directly inspired by them. I don’t know more in this particular case.
@@OlivierMalpas It's peculiar how echos can be heard of beloved pieces just from a few bars or chords. I hear tiny morsels of Puccini or Verdi so often. Thank you for your kind reply.
