Having a group of alchemists defect from The Association to set up their own faction and goals is very fascinating, especially since this group's mindset lines up more with Houtarou's dream of coexistence with Chemies (not to mention it is a valid point that The Association was corrupted by Geryon). The little girl playing word games with Spanner was cute and is the kind of interaction I think he could use more of. This is a pretty interesting section from this week's episode blog: [There are surely people who might be thinking "is it really okay to have a story that delve deeper into the supporting cast (Sabimaru) this close to the end?" But here's a discarded synopsis for episode 5 that is very similar to the story of episode 42: - An old alchemist who has retrieved Wrestler G contacts the group. - The old alchemist is the creator of Wrestler G and Sabimaru's father. - (Story about) what do ordinary alchemists do, and what does it mean to create Chemies. - An enemy monster targets the old alchemist. A debt collector? - Gorilla Malgam(?)'s super power. (Houtarou) becomes Antwrestler and has a wrestling match - Spanner joins as his cornerman/second? But the duo doesn't work well - A feud between Sabimaru and his father? Will they overcome it thanks to the bond of the Renge-Sabimaru duo? In the end, they decided to focus on "the relationship between Chemies and humans that Houtarou aspire to achieve" so they discarded the story of the old alchemist. Now, was episode 42 born from that initial plan for episode 5? Well, actually no, that was a complete coincidence. Episode 5 was a Hasegawa episode after all. It's just that during the meetings for episode 42, they noticed the similarities between Hasegawa's Wrestler G episode and Uchida's script. Producer Minato's order for Uchida this time was "since Gotchard is almost done, just write a story you wanted to do until now but couldn't, and make a script full of that Uchida flavor". Uchida picked up on 3 main points: - Deepening Sabimaru's character - What does it mean to create Chemies? - What do the alchemists other than the Union executives do?] The idea of trimming Gotchard's length as a series is a cool topic imo, while we still have episodes to end the first thing I can think of is to address the quick defeats of "final bosses", would be to integrate the Abysallis Kings' feud much earlier in the series along with Geryon's usurping of one of the three seats in the competition.
yeah the world building of other alchemists totally make sense. this is just my little lore brain going, but what if the core medals (which were made with alchemy) were a proto chemy, as a little goof. totally dope that they were able to tackle a subject they wanted to, even if they didnt mean to come back to an older concept i would suggest a fan edit, but so often they go the way of "i fixed it" rather than just an experiment of pace and what not.
So Gigist and what's-her-face turned Geryon into goop? Turtle and cannon? There was a Showa monster like that named Kamebazooka. Aww, Sabimaru's brother tried to make his Chemy real. Poor Kamedoon, who was a level 0 btw, but at least Dread is finally back next time. No mention of Houtarou summoning a Wild Form only combo? MadPilets in this case. Also firing Spanner out of its cannon. Also a summoned combo was shown being defeated. EDIT: 7:57 Nevermind on the latter involving the human cannonbal. Aww, no Gumming Up Gavv on UA-cam?
there has to be something more with sabi's bro. them making a reference makes sense. yeah, but like i said, will still review it just for free on patreon
dude! am i the only one who missed that this is a pokemon clone... i realized it when needlehawk flewdown, i think horato was just standing there... and when the chemies return, and there it pop i my head, also the 101 and 102 im sure locks this idea
Also i do agree on the versatility OOOs pretty much is your fighting game expert who can mix combos and will air juggle you endlessly, gotchard though is kinda limited to pairing unlike OOOs Season of kamen riders pretty much just focus on the main idea of season 1 again but has more lore in it

The storyline for this episode is very interesting and I'm curious to see were next week goes

its definitely taking from monster catchers, there is even a little SMT with how they are fusing the chemys.
