More and more, I have come to the realisation what a tremendous undertaking this was in Lee's futuristic spaceship. Brave man and laudable endeauvour. Love the classics in the car park and Geoff has the UA-cam game squared, good on you Sir. Looking forward to more from you and Lee, it has only just started. On the merch side, had a (tiny) brainwave: how about a new sticker line with the retro initials of your country (no longer allowed I hear, on the bootlid of the cars) and attach a letter c. Classic! you could also put that on the new 2024 mugs! Also, lastly, is Lee perhaps good at something like this YT merch business? Just wondering outloud. Thank you, bar at the hotel, full of nice atmosphere, I can tell.

I have an immaculate 57 plate Mercedes CLS320 CDI that does 50mpg, I also live just inside the M25 so got caught by the ULEZ expansion. Makes no sense to sell my car that's quoted at a pitiful £3,000! I would have to pay another £15k to get a comparable vehicle! Not doing that - plenty of £12.50's in £15k. So many good cars getting scrapped for peanuts as people panic! These old diesels are fantastic for every reason!
People are making that calculation and hanging on to their cars. Very good.
Geoff , I have to say how much I have enjoyed the epic Jogle Challenge with Lee, compulsive viewing but also harrowing at times , especially for Lee !.You both hit it off so well as great mates and I think both yours and his incredible accounts of your journeys over the last week must be power-boosting your subs.I think an East-West one would be a great idea .By the way the Beemer is a lovely car and what a bargain it was , with its recent fame of how capable it is , it has to remain as a permanent fixture in the Geoff stable !.
That’s a very good and obvious observation Geoff, why don’t ev chargers not have canopies…?
The flames licking the canopy could be a expensive nightmare if they fall down onto a car burning below.
Especially if the canopy is completely made of solar panels.

What size tank does the BMW have?
I think 55 or 60 litres? I remember it being 15 litres less than the 850 tdi
Have you considered a South Coast 500, Cornwall and Dorset? Think CarThrottle did that last year, might be a bit brighter than Scotland!

If you decide to do the east west time trial you really should do it at night, l promise you will enjoy it far more.
There’s no canopies because EV drips get larger in the rain.
No, the real reason there are no canopies is so the smoke can get away when the EV's catch fire.

The trouble with advice like that is you'll more than likely get their backs up, resulting in you being stopped for longer, a full search of the vehicle etc.
I know what you have said is legally correct but if you truly are clean, maybe it's not always the best advice to follow.

He has calmed down, I never thought about it but maybe if you have his kind you expect to be number one I mean they can self drive and known to be fast, Ohhhh the road was being checked for maybe a special lane for their kind of cars

@GeoffBuysCars here’s an interesting challenge you could try, two petrol cars of the same model and engine size, one uses just E5 and the other only uses E10. We all know that E10 is crap and burns quicker than E5, let’s find out if that’s true
This is a really good idea!!!
I ran my Focus Duratech on E10 for a tank full after it was introduced, it shortened my range by >20%. A tank of E5 usually lasts me 2 months (depending on my wife's shifts), E10 was 6 weeks (and the car was less powerful) on her normal shifts, without extras. On E5 with extra picks up same tank is 6 weeks and the car runs better.
@@redsidebiker yep, my charger is from 1968, it misfires, coughs and doesn’t run right on it. My Ranchero is from 1975 and should be able to run on it, America has used ethanol since 1974, but it doesn’t like it either, I’m not even going to try it in my Cortina. I also know of at least three cars that have suffered engine trouble after using it. Not to mention that you can’t leave It idle in a fuel tank for very long, or the way it eats rubber fuel lines, rots fuel tanks from the inside and destroys plastic fuel filters. It’s awful stuff

If you do the East to West one and end up stopping at the gridserve on the outskirts of Norwich bring some nose plugs, it's proper grim with boring views of either a busy junction or the back of an industrial estate, it's built near a sewerage works and the whole area stinks of shit, I go past it at least once a week and always see EV drivers wasting their life there, the smell is even worse in the summer and I have seen EV drivers sitting outside having their forced "EV picnic" surrounded by the smell of shit like it's all part of the big EV adventure. EV drivers seem happy to put with anything including a sewerage infused overpriced stale sandwich in their pursuit of EV utopia 😂 they are mental.
Used to love collecting Hot Wheels for my boy/myself 😄, when they were sensibly priced i.e 99p or less, often over £2 now.
Saw a lovely "Premium edition" Volvo 142 recently, but it was £7.99!
According to UK Government figures the UK uses 36 million tonnes of oil per year to supply the needs of Road transport. This is the energy equivalent of 418680 GWh. per year. The entire UK generating system in 2021 managed to supply 107.5 GWh. I rest my case !

Maine is a beautiful state, but you have to bear in mind it’s not unusual to have snow on the ground from November to April. Spring, summer and fall are gorgeous, winter can be beautiful too, but long.
If you ever seriously want to visit let me know. We live in Carmel, which is in the middle of Maine, so you can head off in any direction, down to the rocky coast, the Western Mountains, east to the blueberry barrens, or north to the Great North Woods, where there are still 90 mile long dirt roads with no electricity. I’m not sure when they’re going to be installing the chargers up there!
Ive.been thinking geoff it took the powers that be nearly 25 years to spread lpg through the country how low longsupplyl it take to put the required infastructure the cables to the chargers around the country

Hi Geof, love the show but here's something we can all do to help get the truth out there about EVs. I just renewed my road tax, at the end I was asked how satisfied I was with the service. Well it was ok till I saw the 'advert' from the Gov promoting EVs! So I clicked 'dissatisfied' and wrote this: "I clicked Very Satisfied then saw thelink: 'Make your next car electric and save fuel'! The small saving a few people might make on fuel for an EV is very heavily outweighed by most other costs: initial price, depreciation, tyres, brakes, insurance, range anxiety, build quality, lack of servicing, end-of life costs, to mention just the main ones. Please remove this extremely dishonest encouragement."
Geoff, have a look in to something about old tesla's going into some low power mode...I think tesla is ditching them so you get a new one......
That was fun... My buddy owns a recovery truck. Its making a weird noise and wanted my opinion. said.. I'd need to hear it... So Ive just been out and on a job with him.
'Hows business.... Great he says 3:30am he recovered a dead EV that ran out of juice... Its now 8am ... we are on our way to recover a dead EV that cannot charge.. A Porsche Taycan or (Tincan coz they are crap) We took it to the Porsche dealer to use their Porsche chargers... Talking to the owner... Its going to cost him around £70 to charge the thing at Porsche and it will only give him around 200 miles ! If I put £70 of diesel in my van Im good for 600+ miles. So much for being cheap transport. We left him at Porsche charging.
Back to mine for coffee??? On the way back he gets a call... Another dead EV by the side of the road to recover it ran out while trying to get to the charge point.
He's averaging 4 calls a day to dead EVs or ran out of charge, or got to a charger but the charger is out of order or wont work.
Its the future of transport 🙂

Watched all the videos on this and yes you could have won by another day if you left him to do his charging everyday. I think you could have beat him in the Range Rover all be it a bit closer on the costs. for what it costs Lee to run the Porsche id suggest he get an old diesel for longer distances to save his sanity and health. he would pull back the cost within a few months the mileage he does on the difference between charge costs and combustion fuel.
Wait what..? pulled over for no insurance? The police there have such perfectly sync'd payment data there that ... and that they have the time and F's to give that... Ffffff.. *my american mind is blown out constantly by what you guys are doing to yourselves.. I really pray for y'all Geoff. I really want to visit some day.

Ask your friend Led to stop whining on about the depreciation on his Porch and Blaming Rishy for extending the ICE ban to 2035. His car is worth less because no body wants a second hand status symbol, the older it gets the less saddoses are prepared to buy it. Extending the ban is good news for the majority of people who cannot afford an electric car
here's what happens when the additional weight of EVs isn't accounted for on a ship - it lists, cargo flung around inside, brand new cars are scrapped.

Noticed some more EV's cars are in the press all as ugly as the previous ones. The EV replacement for the Mercedes SLS looks hideous with its LED light grill.
