Chorus
I never dreamed you'd leave in summer
You said you would be here when it rained
Why didn't you stay
#Common #RetrospectForLife #LaurynHill #Onedayitllallmakesense #HipHop #Rap
This has to be one of Lauryns best vocal performances ever. So, so beautiful.
Absolutely incredible
$315 ain't worth your soul. STILL resonates. First time seeing the video. #tears
Common and Lauryn Hill two of the greatest all time musicians. Great song
common Lauren hill awesome Cool good music playlist spotify
This os why Common is the GOAT
Not the goats but there REALLY GOOD tho
young lauryn is the bomb.shes cute, pretty and talented
Glad I got to see common up close in person at the four seasons when I was working in the city
The Stevie Wonder sample was so perfectly sung by Lauryn
This song is so poetic and it holds such a resonating message.
The music the industry will never push. This is about being a man for your woman. 2020s needs this
I’m 33 years old and I’m just now really appreciating the work Common has done over the years. Fuck the numbers and popularity. Common is truly one of the Goat’s
As a father of 2, I can remember when I found out about my first child and how I reacted, definitely a life changing event and not something that one does on their own. So thankful for my kids.
This is where I failed, I’m happy for you.
Powerful song!
Powerful 💎
The fact that this song is not over a million views is a travesty because this song is so real and timeless.
That’s because One Day It’ll All Make Sense wasn’t a selling album! Like Water For Chocate was! And it was a major label album! Commons first 3 albums weren’t on a major label which is strange but he was shown on TV
Apart from other reasons it's because of how truthful this song is. Sadly, the majority of people nowadays don't want to hear music with this kind of message. And the mainstream certainly won't push it.. glad you and I found it though
God save us all
Way back when I was ripping tracks off Limewire and Napster, I just happened to come across this song because Lauryn Hill was one of my favorite artists. Before that, never heard of this song just line many others haven't. It's unfortunate.
@MR J ....I can agree and @91definite this album was a classic....the album has some good reviews...I see this as a classic though.
Omg. Listening to this song still brings tears to my eyes it's so emotional. I remember having it on tape and flipping it over to rewind on my walkman over and over. This is the first time I've seen the video and damnit I'm crying.
I hear you, Queen! This Brotha has Been woke for the longest and his talent continues to evolve. He's someone I respect and he's worth hearing in person and on wax. He through down with this one and it just made me nostalgic as a mug to listen to this cut while watching this video.
#CommonSenseAintSoCommon
This is so real and feds my spirit. Thank you King Common and Queen Lauren
same sis
Same here..
First time I heard this was when I was 16 back in '07
Still living in Chicago back then before I relocated forever in Tampa
The video and the lyrics to this triggered a nerve were I start crying
This is my favorite Common song of all time. I was about 14/15 when I was introduced to this song, studied it extensively. Years later I found myself starring on this song. to think I knew better, the the irony of life
🔥🔥🔥
This song, still triggers me on the 2x I could have been a father. Today, God has blessed me with 3 beautiful kids and an incredible wife.
Just DAMN. My soul is always revived each time I jam this song, it makes me understand and see the blessings, especially from where I come from hahaha.
This remains THEE jam 👌🏽✌🏽
"We gotta see eye to eye about family before we become one" this is too real
Young men need to hear this and stop being afraid to step up. Women get scared and need the comfort of real men who will promise to stand by them through pregnancies. We can stop the large numbers of abortion just by being there. We got do better and be responsible yo! God bless.
This song is so real on so many levels. Why can't society rewind to this age and time?
it's over
There's so many songs out now. 'Pound Town' 'WAP' 'Peaches &Eggplants' etc....i wish there were more songs out like this, that show the other side of having s3x
N’bush Wright, Lauryn Hill...just two of the most beautiful women on the planet. Love this song and video...wish we could go back to proper messages like these.
this is music, this is art
Common’s lyrics were definitely on point but the way Lauryn sung the 1st and 2nd chorus was so tight. On the 1st chorus she was on a higher octave/note pitch vs on the 2nd chorus when she sang on a much lower octave/note pitch.
It definitely connected well with the spirit and energy of Common’s lyrics and melody of the song 🎵. Subconsciously this song is very Deep. 💯💯❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥
I still feel this was his best album. The way the tracks were structured. The skits. Just an amazing album.
Absolutely agree! Eternal classic.
Agree, beautiful work
Who’s still here in 2024🔥🔥🔥
Never leaving....
I was a sophomore in college when I 1st heard this......I used to cry every time I heard it. 🎧🎙🔥🎵
Mann.. I was rocking Common while everyone was on Jay.. this dude been spitting Beats Rhymes and Life... love it still
One of the realest tracks thats still so relevant today ,broken families of the missing fathers of our generation
Pure hip hop that meant much. Spiritual wordplay. I love this era of hip hop. So blessed to hear so many greats. Peace Common
young lauryn is so pretty
i‘ve been bumping this for the last couple months. really getting into the ‘96-03 hip hop era. need some names to check out
lyrical depth
Wow This Brings Tears To My Eye's Because I Remember Taking Good Care Of 4 Sons That Didn't Belong To Me By 3 Different Baby Mommas Ever Since I Left They Cried To Me Saying I Wish You Were My Real Father. 💯😓😢😪😭
"You say your period hasn't came, and lately I've been sleepy
So quit smokin' the weed and the beadies and let's have this boy
" 🔥🔥🔥

They wasn’t playin games in the 90s! 😭👏🏽
Not at all, it was special
@Business Straight business I know your joking but this was a time when real hip hop with a conscious message was well respected. If you don't know listen to his other song titled I Use To Love H.E.R.
True
@@tdavi3216 For real man. It really worked hard back in the days
I make sure to play it once a year. Since the 90's till now.

Love Lauryn Hill's vocals!
This is a true testament to how powerful and efficient he is as an artist. Remarkablly emotional, and meaningful vibrations manifested through each verse, pure poetry of life's struggles and blessings, evoke feelings of sadness and joy simultaneously
This song really had an impact for me. The Depth of this one is Outstanding. Great Job Common & Lauryn Hill 🙌
I always felt they kept this from being a radio single for sinister reasons 👀👀👀
This song has made me cry from the first time I heard it until now. I'm a single mom, so it hits too close to home.
This is one of common's best songs
Underrated but super powerful
💯
This song always makes me tear up no matter how much I try not to 😂 one of my favorites but it hits really close to home.
If you need uplifting, you came to the right song
What a great time in hip hop
To see that this video isn’t over a million views shows how lost our people are 😤
My favorite theme of this rapper. Lyrics with a beautiful message and the hook is beautiful also the instrumental.
Was my dad’s favorite song. Makes me wonder…
Commonってラップだけでなく、俳優もできるねんよなぁ
神曲認定、再生リスト保存決定
It’s Damnn Near 2020 & Im Feeling 90’z Vibes 🔥💯 Common Too Underrated 💯
Like minds bro
Me too
man the 90s,this was my very first introduction to common sense, loved his flows and deliveries, still ill till this day.
Poetic, Soulful, Powerful, Spiritual. This song is so dope and beautiful that it made my eyes water. Peace and Love to Common and Lauryn.
See, this was more than hip-hop... It was soul music. Not because it's from the 90's, but because you feel it through and through. Brothas had so much soul and flavor. And we all know what Miss Lauryn Hill did for music.
Facts ❤❤
I swear, I see you EVERYWHERE😄. Every classic rnb or hiphop song that I reminisce, as soon as I read the posts you already been in there at least a month😄 You got good taste ma.
♥
I just love music through and through. I am music. Thanks so much.
@@LaCheleWallace You and me both, and you're welcome. Aight then..until we meet again on a different post.🎧
I'm glad y'all re-uploaded this in HD!! Common been coming with that heat since day 1, real woke brother & Lauryn... PHENOMENAL!!
The wife he chooses, will definitely be special from God.
Men or woman are never ready when you are young things happens for good reason because they are blessing sadly for those men or woman who dont want their own flesh and blood there heritage to there history god bless all children and parents that love unconditionality. One love to all!
I love the CD version..the last minutes where the piano cords are intense
I listened this song when I went to the university in the afternoon.
They don't rap like this no more
Love this song. I hope we get back to real Hip Hop
Common thank You, this is gold.
Daaaaaamn that was deep❤
2022, and i'm still here
What real HipHop looks like. What real GOATs used to do it. 90s HipHop is HipHop, the last real one. Timeless
It took the world another 20 years to catch on to the production genius of No ID. When he produced 4:44 and people called it a mature Jay Z album I thought “wait until they hear what him and Common did in their 20s” LOL
This album has some of Common's best bars.
This song makes me cry 🥺💖
You read my mind
Classic ❤
$315 Ain't Worth Your Soul! Thank You Mr Common!
So moving, I played this a lot in 2011 & felt like an archived tear-jerker tonight. Goosebumps rn hearing the lyrics & Lauryn’s beautiful vocals anew 🙏😢Plus the music video is both beautiful & heartbreaking
thank you for teachin me real values about life. much love from Romania! common, your music always give me strength
Miss Lauryn Hill is a breath of fresh air my friend.
Lauryn Hill murdered the chorus!!!!!❤️❤️❤️🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥
I love the raps but the chorus sucks
Common’s lyrics were definitely on point but the way Lauryn sung the 1st and 2nd chorus was so tight. On the 1st chorus she was on a higher octave/note pitch vs on the 2nd chorus when she sang on a much lower octave/note pitch.
It definitely connected well with the spirit and energy of Common’s lyrics and melody of the song 🎵. Subconsciously this song is very Deep. 💯💯❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥
no one in the comments talk about the original song of stevie wonder which is a masterpiece too
@@gabbar34000What's it called?
