Navarasa Music Meditation | nine ragas on fretless guitar

A premiere of 'Navarasa' perfromed on a Godin fretless electric guitar by Paul LIvingstone. This new work explores nine contrasting raga meditations in a cycle of modulating guided improvisations. Navarasa is inspired by the traditional concept of aesthetics of art in the Natyashastra (witten between 200 BC and 200 AD).
Paul has just returned from Jan 2024 tour in India in 2022 Paul completed a 6-month research fellowship researching dhrupad, one of the planet's oldest living music traditions under the auspices of the American Institute of Indian Studies. 2025 will be his 40th year of his deep involvement in the parampara (tradition) of raga music.
