- This video is about fretless guitar for Indian classical music. I am exploring how to perform ragas on the fretless guitar in a way that preserves the guitar's strengths while also working to capture the nuances of raga performance.

Loving the sound of
Your work is priceless!!!!
I will be exploring Indian Classical with a fretless guitar in future videos.
Very cool, never heard of fretless
You can’t really play chords in a fretless guitar, maybe a few triad shapes. Because guitar is normally a mix of chords and melody it doesn’t work as a fretless instrument really. But for Arabic and Indian music that is not based on chords and harmony, playing a fretless guitar opens a lot of possibilities. I’m really excited to explore using it more. Thanks for watching!
@@JeffStarr I'm exploring learning sitar (I absolutely love the sound) and I'm trying to learn as much as I can.

@@JeffStarr That was great, thanks!
AWESOME! I've been trying to learn Ragas on fretless. I'm a bit behind you tho.
I chooned my guitar to B F# B F# B F#- but also have a smaller scale CGCGCG... it's beguiling learning even at the very begins!
I'm toats jealous if yr 12 string fretless- sounds rad!
You can do it! For me the big breakthrough was actually learning to do it with standard tuning. I am tuned down a whole step to D but otherwise the intervals between strings are the same. I tried using all sorts of tunings and custom string layouts but at the end of the day if I wanted to play it like a guitar it just needed to be a guitar. :)
@@JeffStarr Aw dude, thanks so much for the encouragement! And more power to you for using standard tuning.
Please keep up the lessons. I'm finding it really rewarding to tackle even small aspects of Indian classical ideas. It enriches my understanding of both Indian & other musical cultures.
It's a Raga of WIN.
I get what I ask for lol ❤😂
This is perhaps the fastest I've ever made a video.
Raga Yaman Kalyan !
You got it!
