I just went through my bookshelves, getting rid of duplicates and books I didn't feel the need to keep for assorted reasons. It feels good to get them off the shelves. When I unhaul books, first I let family and friends find titles they'd like, then the rest go in a box in my car so I can stop at Little Free Libraries when I pass one.
Kiran Milwood Hargrave is one of my favourite authors, her middle grade/young adult books are so good! The Girl of Ink and Stars is one of my favourite books ever and I highly recommend if you like Ghibli (and idk fantasy in general)! It's criminally underrated!
I unhaul everything under 4 stars, but as most of my books are ebooks that's fairly easy 😂 The times I also have a physical copy, I put them in an unhaul pile immediately
🌙 ten books unhauled yesterday 🌙 6 were old arc’s that I don’t think about and 4 were sub books/other books I bought that, you guessed it, I don’t think about. I’ve been really on myself to read what I own this year and trying to bring less in. So far I’m having middling success because I did go spend happy at the beginning of the year before I started to be mindful and track what I was doing
I am such a hoarder! I started using the three libraries near where I lived earlier this year and that was useful to feel like books I’d lost interest in had gone to a good home but there were only a few! I’m now so far away from most of my books that it will be really interesting to see how I feel about them all when I’m reunited with them in July. I’m slowly making my way through the stack of books I brought with me and it is proving to be a mixed bag on the enjoyment scale. 🌚🌝🌙
I “unhaul” books all the time. I only keep books that have some meaning to me for one reason or another. I don’t feel the need to keep every book that I read but I also appreciate people who do.
I know what you mean about books making you unhappy if they are still on your shelves if you didn't like them. If I read a book I dont like, I keep ot long enough to film a wrap up then I unhaul it straight away 😅 🌙
I loved the dance tree when I read it earlier this year, but there’s definitely not enough time in the day to waste it on books you think you won’t like🖤🌙
I’m a book hoarder tbh, but if I don’t like a book I good rid of it. I do also like to pass my ARCs along to friends even if I did like the book so that it forces me to buy a finished copy! I don’t even want to know how long it would take me to purge my shelves because I’ve been collecting books since I was in elementary school.
🌙 I tend to hoard until a lack of space makes an unhaul necessary. I’m trying to be more conscientious about the books I buy instead of impulse buying too.
Have you read any more book written by Emily Henry? I didn't really enjoy Beach Read and People We Meet on Vacation. My favorite of hers is definitely Book Lovers, because it's not just about Romance but also mental health and a close (but not perfect) sibling relationship. I do understand if you're done with her books though and don't want to try another one of hers, i just thought i'll mention my fave ^^
Great video! I just found your channel recently. I only have duplicates for series or books I really really love because I want all the pretty special editions. 😂 I'd love a chance to buy those Shadow of the Gods and Hunger of the Gods hardbacks if you put them up for sale somewhere! They're essentially non-existent in the US.
I regularly unhaul. My library space is quite small, so it is partly due to necessity, but also because I like to get rid of what I dislike. You may have mentioned this in one of your older videos, but what do you do professionally? Take care 🌙
I unhaul books often as I don’t like keeping books I will never read (I buy most second hand so have no qualms in re-donating them if I go off the idea of reading them) and also rarely keep books I have read unless it’s one I loved so much I can envisage a re-read at some point. That is rare though (I can count re-reads on one hand) ‘too many books too little time’ in my opinion - the only books I tend to keep that I have read are favourite childhood books but unlikely to read them again, I just like a bit of nostalgia - I suppose I have half a shelf of favourite childhood books and another half of non-fiction that are really helpful or insightful so may get a second browse at some point. Other than that, I’d rather they go, for someone else to enjoy them, shelves of unread books feel more exciting to me than ones I have read - I suppose this may be a strange way to look at things as I am a lifelong book lover, and have also spent more than 10 years working in public libraries so am happy among shelves of books!
I've read two books by Kiran Milwood Hargrave and liked The Deathless Girls somewhat more than The Mercies. I love any kind of story relating to Dracula, so that's probably why I preferred the one I did.🌜
Oh dear! Been looking for the HB of Shadow of the Gods and Hunger of the Gods for so long! If you are willing to sell, I'd be more than happy to buy them :)
I was really bored by the mercies too 😭 and I hated red sister and it was such a slog! I also heard he’s not a great author either… I unhauled beach read as well and Emily Henry is not really a romance reader for me too 🙈

I agree. It is a lovely book and now you mention it, there’s a Ghibli feel to it!

I unhaul everything under 5 stars :D
❤️📚📚🌜❤️ I feel the same way. I unhaul as I finish books unless they are 5 star, that I may want to reread.
🌜 Unhauls are my fav
Please rescue 'A Taste of Gold and Iron' if you can! No smut but the MC grows into his confidence and abilities, so much longing, so adorable!
Aw I would keep that Study in Drowning ARC just for the sentimentality. And cuz arcs are rare

Enjoyed the unhaul! 🌕
I've had The Kiss of Deception trilogy on my tbr FOREVER! I need to do an unhaul at the end of the year 🌙🌙
great video! it's always good for you to get rid of the stuff that does not work for you anymore

🌛I too tend to hoard then purge 😅

I love a good unhaul!! 🌕
I am DEFINITELY INTERESTED in the John G hardbacks!!!
I did not finish the mercies 😮
I always have a clear out ( not very often ) and feel good and then a dark cloud arrives and I feel bereft and want them all back 😳😂
That's what my unhauls tend to be about or boredom with the book.
I would love to have that arc of a study in drowning and would happily pay UK postage for it if possible! x I unhauled so many of these too!

🌙 just wanted to say that it was so lovely meeting you at YALC 💜 -Shelley
I recently went through my books and I had a lot of duplicates.

I love John Gwynne... I wish I could have those hard backs lol.
The Shadow In The Glass didnt work for me either unfortunately. I mostly take my unhauls to charity or give to friends.

I would love to read the ravens boys trilogy can't believe I've never read it
I unhaul books I don’t like or have duplicates of. I have very belittle storage so only faves get to stay.
I would definitely buy those John Gwynne hardbacks if you were willing to sell them! They’re impossible to find 😭
🌙 🌝 🌙
I have not unhauled a book ever but i have a husband who is an enabler. 🌑🌒🌓🌔🌕🌖🌗🌘
I would so get some of your books if I could
🌙
🌙✨
I know an unhaul is not the place for this.. But please do give A Tase of Gold an Iron a try! It's so good, the emotion! The drama!
Oh dear! Been looking for the HB of Shadow of the Gods and Hunger of the Gods for so long! If you are willing to sell, I'd be more than happy to buy them :)
I recently went through my books I have 2 bags mostly of duplicates of books. 😅 I have a friend that sells books so I pass them onto her. 🌔🌔🌖🌕

I’ve still never read kiss of deception 😤

🌛I easily bid goodbye to the books that did not get "Fave!!" or "Special" badge from me🤭
