Ivan Ditscheiner takes KCPR's "SLO-Fi" through a tour of his recording studio on a farm in California's Central Coast.
When we first talked to Ivan on SLO-Fi back in 2022, he was freshly graduated from the Cuesta College "Audio Technology" program and looking to turn his personal passion of audio recording into something that impacted our community. He told us at the time that he had this crazy idea: he was going to open his own nonprofit studio, so local bands could get their material recorded free of charge.
At the time of our first interview, he didn't have much equipment. He didn't have a location for the studio. The only thing he had done for "The Rec Hub" at the time was open a bank account.
Now, The Rec Hub is a fully operational recording studio that has recorded and mixed records for Couch Dog, Margot Sinclair, Joone, Krooks, and a plethora of other artists.
