At 1:27:43 you will see a white flashing X. At 1:28:29 you will see an X. Who is the first to tell you what this means and what the use is?

The "Flashing white 'X'" means "Limit the speed so that before the next signal 'White "X'" or a light signal emitting red light can be stopped. Only applies to drivers of trains intended for the carriage of goods and of trains designated by the railway undertaking concerned." The solid lit white X has the definition "Stop before the signal. Only applies to drivers of trains intended for the carriage of goods and of trains designated by the railway undertaking concerned." If this X then changes to a G, you can continue driving. These signals can be found near tunnels and are intended to prevent you from having to come to a stop at the bottom of a tunnel with your heavy freight train because a train is standing in front of you. It is very likely that you will no longer be able to climb the slope. These signals actually indicate that the tunnel and the block after it are clear. An example of a designated train is a passenger train with a fault, which means that you have limited power.

Het X/G-regime geldt voor goederentreinen of aangewezen treinen door de spoorwegonderneming zodat zij op tijd stoppen voor in dit geval tunnels. Zij moeten wachten op een G (met groen seinbeeld) want dan betekent het dat zij volledig vrij baan hebben en niet in de tunnel onderaan de helling tot stilstand komen. Op eigen kracht de tunnel uitkomen is dan vaak niet mogelijk door de zwaarte van de trein. Zelfde principe geldt bij het L/H-regime alleen dan is dat bij hellingen op en af. Waarschijnlijk mist er nog wel iets.

It's basically a signal exclusively meant for freight trains. Whenever a freight train driver sees the white cross blinking, the color of the signal no longer matters and they need to interpret it as a yellow/cautionary signal. When the cross (at the next signal) is on constantly, a freight driver must interpret it as a signal at danger/red signal. A passenger train driver can ignore the white crosses and if the signal is green, continue at track speed. (Unless, of course, the maximum train (control) speed is lower)
Het is eigenlijk een sein die alleen geldt voor goederentreinen. Als een machinist op een goederentrein een knipperend kruis ziet, doet de kleur er niet meer to en moeten ze dat als geel sein beschouwen. Als het kruis (bij het volgende sein) constant aan is, moet de machinist op een goederentrein het als een stoptonend sein/rood sein beschouwen. Een machinist op een passagierstrein mag de witter kruizen negeren en als het sein groen is, op baanvaksnelheid doorrijden. (Tenzij de maximum trein(beïnvloedings)snelheid natuurlijk lager is)

I enjoy your videos very much. But, I don't like the "I'll tell you later" when it comes to the signals you highlight. I never know what title to check to find the answer. How about straight up telling us what a given signal means, ideally directly on the screen when you encounter it?
You simply have to check the same titel. The answer will get pinned to the top of the comments after a few days
Most of the viewers like it this way. Just bookmark the movie and check back later.
@@CabviewHolland I disagree. Having to revisit a video is pointless. I see new cabrides posted every day and I'm more likely to look up an answer online if the answer isn't in the video. When the answer is teased to be coming soon, I feel like it's a case of a "Hey, I know something you don't, aren't I special?" type of attitude. This is even more prevalent when it's someone like me, who lives across the pond (in Canada, fifth biggest rail network in the world behind the United States - 250,000 km! - China, Russia, and India. (And yet the UK rail system has the most interest in Train Simulator, with German, and not so many American routes. Funny, that.)
Just do text commentary over the video. Live commentary would be better, but having done this with gaming - even train gaming - I know how hard that would be and is probably ill-advised or banned as such for this type of video. Text commentary lets you point these things out. See Don Coffey's UK videos. He even freezes video to highlight a feature from time to time and then resumes a few seconds later. If we are looking away here, we will miss it.
@@CycloneGU Thanks for the tip. This is a one time thing and when all signals have been explained you can find them back in the playlist. I decided to let viewers guess because they suggested to do this quiz like thing more often themselves.
@@CabviewHolland I see. For local viewers it may be sensible, but for international viewer the odds are they really won't be interested in waiting for the information. I like having the info there. Just my taste though!

I have often wondered why all the faces are painted on the blocks along the tracks such as at 1:24:38? I am sure they are not signals of some sort. Also a post of all the signals and answers would be nice for those of us who missed or don't know the ones posted. Thanks for the great rides!
The faces are graffiti. All signals can be found 8n a playlist. The explanation is always in a pinned comment after a couple of days after posting.

1:25:48 - um yes. I wonder how what software is making the speed estimates. It seems to have picked up that bicyclist mid right on the video and thinks the dead stopped train is going 6 km/h. It is a cute software hack. (Loren got a chuckle, too.)

Or proof that the world does not stand still.
It's just that GPS is not perfectly accurate. You'll notice the indication goes away completely when in the tunnel, which indicates GPS is *probably* the method used. Having the fix "wander" a bit as different satellite combinations are used is quite normal, and a small measured speed due to that would be expected.
So where are the flshing signals explained please?

@@jschouten1985 omg ben je dom t is voor goederentreinen dus t heeft wel degelijk wat met de rem weg te maken
De X op het sein, dat betekend voor de goederenmachinist dat hij voor dit sein moet stoppen, anders komt hij met zijn zware trein de bulten niet op omdat hij zo zwaar is.
X/G regime is voor tunnels, niet voor heuvels.....😉
@@jschouten1985 Well, they say, "What goes up must come down." Now, if you do not want to permanently become a cave dweller the converse is usually true in the long term, What goes down must come up - if you wait long enough." So the tunnel case has as its root problem a grade up which a stopped freight train is expected to be unable to climb while starting up. If running momentum pushes the train over the rise out of the tunnel.
