there are two ferries going back and forth between DenHelder and Texel. This one is the Texelstroom. she is only a few years old. Everything that wants to go to the island or back has to be taken with these ferries. Cars, caravans and trucks. And they are often full to the last seat, because Texel is extremely popular with tourists. The ferries only operate the Den Helder/Texel route
I still remember the "Dageraad" from DenHelder to Oudeschild
You have really worked hard today for our enjoyment, thank you so much!
Enjoyed my time with you visiting Texle island and the ferry!
It worths being tired when i see thr comments like this, thank you so much!
Luxury? Wow. I mean, its a good ship, they perfected the ferrying over the last 50 years, but luxury?
I'll try and enjoy it a bit more the next time 😀
I've done this journey to Texel Murat! Thanks for posting, brings back pleasant memories!
Hey JJ, That s great, we will go there again to see other parts of the islands ✋️👍 Thanks!
Wow! Things have moved on! That ferry is so modern... Thanks!
You re welcome 🤗
Beautiful sunset, love it 🌅.
👍💫
This is amazing - so picturesque and scenic - but I wonder why the ferry boat is such a large vessel for the relatively short journey to and from Den Helder? It's so big and spacious it could be used for longer distance sailings! Is this one just a shuttle between the two destinations, or does it also go further and also take in the other Waddeneilanden?
To be honest i don t know why there is huge ferry for that short distance, beside, except some limited Summer days, it s not really crowded. :) But this ferry run between Texel - Den Helder as i know 😊
It is a shuttle service. It is big because the sea can get wild and the service should be open in almost all weather. Size also enables quick boarding and unboarding in the harbours, with almost no queues. Size of the passenger deck is due to the size of the double layer car deck, it would be silly to make it smaller if space is available. This service is based on speed, with no delays, so bus and train connections can be scheduled reliable and there is a smooth and quick transfer. (If people follow the BUS and TRAIN arrows! 😄)
Island hopping is almost impossible because the Waddenzee isn't deep enough to go from island to island on the 'inside'. On the North Sea outside it would be possible, but you need big seaworthy ferries, and demand is low, therefor not economically feasible. Other mainland island ferries follow the deep tide streams that cross the Waddenzee and end up between the islands where the tide currents are enormous. So they arrive at the end tips of the islands, never half way where the sea is shallow. Texel is the biggest and most populated of the islands, so a good fast ferry service is possible. For the other islands car transfer is discouraged or even forbidden for non-inhabitants.
@@dutchman7623 That a lot, it s a great info!
nice video. never been that far up The Netherlands , only got as far as Alkmaar , that ferry looks better than the Dover /Calais which we use from Uk to France
Great vid! With suspence in the end and everything.!
Thanks Alvaro 🤗
Very nice video
🙏🤗
when we went to texel we took our tent and went to camping koogerstrand. Its location is great and the camp site is in the dunes. Although its a big commercial camp site the prices are friendly . Because its in the dunesthe hills block the other other tents and camping vehicles from view. it almost feels like camping in nature while having electricity, and a toilet shower and other stuff. We also had great weather so we had a good time biking around the island from there
I remember that camp! Nearby De Koog, we also stayed around but another small camping place, 10 min cycling from De Koog. The one you stayed is pretty big, and look so natural next to Duins. Thanks for watching and commenting 😊👍🤗
Its called Koogerstrand
@@viktorrietveld you are right, i changed it
It's not like the harem-sirkeci ferry. it's missing the hustle 😅
For sure 😅 Thanks 🍻
