  • A look at how to make a 4K Timelapse video on Nikon Z cameras. I show the settings to use on my Nikon Z50 camera. This can be used for the holy grail of Timelapse’s either day to night or night to day.

Nice tutorial. Didn’t know Nikon had all these settings (I’ve been forever a Sony shooter). The built in interval functions of cameras are so useful, wont even need intervalometers anymore.

I used to use a Sony a6000 absolutely loved that camera, but it didn’t have all the features todays cameras pack in, only sold it to fund a new lens, but yes modern cameras have so many features I haven’t needed to use an Intervalometer yet. I expect the latest from each brand pack the same features. I always wanted and lusted after the latest Sony a7 either s or r but at the last minute swerved towards Nikon.Sony and Apple didn’t seem to want to play together nicely.

I personally prefer the Interval Timer Shooting option, rather than letting the camera make a time-lapse video internally. This gives me more control over the shutter speed, exposure time and ISO "which I keep at 6400" for a constant exposure throughout the entire sequence.

Great tutorial, thank you! My question: why to select P mode?

In p mode the camera has control of the shutter speed and the aperture of the lense to correctly decide the exposure for each frame. It gives the camera enough flexibility to adapt to the change from daylight to darkness or darkness to daylight.

i dont understand the interval i thought how it normaly is but it isnt and thats why i never had luck with nikon and the horrible timelaps interface it is so bad. i did try P mode for holy grail . forget it ! when its getting dark everything goes overexposed no matter what settings and there is speedchange in your timelaps also dont no why ,, and the biggest problem afcours is interval is not what it is and that leaves so much users in the dark including me. if i do timelapes i lone a sony .. such a breeze .
