    Moly requires heat and pressure to bond to metal and that was a simple low temperature friction test.

      Exaclty right !!! It’s truly a product I swear by mate! The amount of times it saved my bacon when my cars engine oil ran dry due to severe leak!! No engine damage no wear, issue is since fixed but mos2 definitely prevented metal to metal contact !!

    Another recommendation for an oil additive would be hotshot FR3. I heard some good things about it, but I still believe that engine shield and motorkote would beat it.

      molybdenum disulfide is already present in many motor oils.
      Obviously this additive considerably increases its concentration.
      Personally I'm not a fan of solid additives ...

    What is the reason for such a bad result? What oil was used in the test?

    • @travispratt6327
      @travispratt6327 2 роки тому

      This wasn’t a bad result, he had too much weight for the test cause that was a huge scar, but even then the moly reduced it by a full mm. The way moly works is by building a sacrificial layer, getting sloughed off in an abnormal event like a cold start or rogue particle then built back up again under normal conditions. We see here if this was in an engine it would have continuously got a little scraping of the moly, the moly built up, then the contact over and over and probably would save the engine from actual failure. Any change in the size of the scar from this test is showing the moly works, the only bad test would be the same size scar or a bigger one.

    Bought the MoS2 Anti-Friction Engine Treatment 3/30/2021, poured it in the crankcase then drove off. After 2.5 miles of driving, engine started misfiring, lost a lot of power and barely got us home. Checked the codes when I got home and P0300 and P0305 showed. Shut the engine off, checked for loose connections but didn't find any so I started the car again. After a few minutes of idling, engine struggled then died. Now it is seized and would not start again. Engine had adequate oil and wasn't overfilled when added the Liqui-Moly, coolant level was adequate, no overheating and no issues. Now it's just dead. Car is a 2007 Mercedes ML350 with 165k miles and oil change was only ~1,000 miles ago.

      Cannot be related to the MoS2. Its an anti wear additive and you NEVER end up with enough moly in the oil to hurt something.

    Id just buy pure MoS2 Powder and mix a weighed it into the oil instead of these premixed additives.
