Elden Ring is an action role-playing game developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. The game was made in collaboration with fantasy novelist George R. R. Martin, who provided material for the game's setting. It was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on February 25, 2022.
Elden Ring received critical acclaim, and is among the highest-reviewed games of 2022. Praise was directed at its open world design and gameplay, which was considered as an improvement to the Souls formula, though it received minor criticism for its technical issues on the PC version.
Elden Ring takes place in the realm of the Lands Between, sometime after the destruction of the titular Elden Ring and the scattering of its shards, the Great Runes. Once graced by the Ring and the Erdtree which symbolizes its presence, the realm is now ruled over by the demigod offspring of Queen Marika the Eternal, each possessing a shard of the Ring that corrupts and taints them with power. As Tarnished-exiles from the Lands Between who lost the Ring's grace and are summoned back after the Shattering, players must traverse the realm to ultimately find all the Great Runes, restore the Elden Ring, and become the Elden Lord.
Elden Ring is an action role-playing game played in a third-person perspective with gameplay focusing on combat and exploration; it features elements similar to those found in other games developed by FromSoftware, such as the Souls series, Bloodborne, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Director Hidetaka Miyazaki explained that players start with a linear opening but eventually progress to freely explore the Lands Between, including its six main areas, as well as castles, fortresses, and catacombs scattered throughout the open world map. These main areas are interconnected through a central hub that players can access later in the game's progression-similar to Firelink Shrine from Dark Souls-and are explorable using the character's mount as the main mode of transport, although a fast travel system is an available option. Throughout the game, players encounter non-player characters (NPCs) and enemies alike, including the demigods who rule each main area and serves as the game's main bosses

In this installment: The Tarnished channels Indiana Jones and Devo, brawls with Borealis, and Vyke gets his rematch. Next Dave enters the Guardian's Garrison to acquire a prayer book and a shield that shoots Fireballs. Then Scribe visits Flame Peak (where Okina invades), has a spooky encounter with another Tibia Mariner, and the Death Rite Bird proves to be quite a mighty foe. Furthermore Castle Sol holds the other half of an important medallion, but a pair of Blade Lions lie in wait, as do birds with a grudge, the Ghost Division, and a super cool shotel. After clashing with Commander Niall, our hero takes the Lift of Rold and arrives at a hidden path (where giant Octopus monsters drop from the Ceiling), a snowy field reminiscent of the Ivory King DLC in DS2, and a stop in the Town of Ordina (home of an Ax and ball wielding Rotten Duelist, the black knife set, and a Beacon Lighting Puzzle), before a peak at the beauty of Haligtree and picking up a most unusual crown to wrap things up.

You know what's funny? I started a new run in prep for the DLC, I am basically EXACTLY where you are in the base game now, the only difference being I'm in the DLC now (so obviously I did the boss the access it)
This all hits different after the DLC, looking forward to seeing what your take on it is when you get to it.
