Interesting notice. I wonder how fast they were able to correct the misprint, as the Chryon scroll notes "some editions" and not all. The medley of HBO announcers for this junction: Joyce Gordon voices the Next On, Les Marshak handles the David Letterman bit, an unidentified male VO (who did the "Energized for Life" Energizer battery ads from around this time) on the Smokey and the Bandit promo, and finally Joel Crager on the wireframe ID and the ratings bumper.
That David Letterman special feels like it was made for his too hip for the room Daytime talkshow that was around that time. It probably got a better audience that way.
Ahh, the good ole' HBO Guides. A common fixture in hotel rooms right up until the early or mid 2010s. I haven't been in a hotel for a while though. I wonder if they still print them, given how many hotels still have cable TV and continue to advertise Free HBO to this day?
I spent so many hours in front of the one TV in our house that had a descrambler box for HBO. My brother and I used to scour the HBO guide for any movie or show with nudity that might conceivably be airing at a time when the parents were out at a church function. Thank you, early-80's HBO for filling my young brain with boobies. You will be remembered.
