Story 3: the wife said she already had an attraction and that it's okay because he is leaving. She is using her illness as an excuse to do something she already planned. She is also using her illness for sympathy and support from her friends. This is despicable. The way she gaslights....If the tables turned and he was sick and asked for this...she would play the victim. OP deserves better

Marriage is through sickness and health. I guess I missed the part that says if you get sick it’s ok to cheat. Sounds like she was having an emotional affair beforehand because the chubby coworker went off with her hand in hand. And after she got sick decided it was her excuse to have a sexual affair. And getting cancer is no reason to be a ho. And the audacity of those women ganging up on him saying he has no idea what she went through. He was there by her side through it all. He knows exactly what she went through. You’d think after recovering from cancer you’d be thankful for what you have. Who uses it as a reason to destroy what they have?

What makes story 3 worse is that uterine cancer is a pretty common and easily treatable cancer and it was only in stage 1. Obviously I would not wish cancer or a major operation on anybody and it's understandable that she was scared and upset, but at that stage it has a 90% survival rate and her symptoms would probably have been very minimal. My Mum went through the same operation and she was fine after a few weeks. When she came out she was even more appreciative of my Dad that he helped her through it. Tens of thousands of women go through the same operation every year and don't use it as an excuse to cheat on their husbands.

  • @juliekingsbury8817

I had uterine cancer last year (breats cancer two years before) and I felt like my world was shattered, but at no point did I think:" I should probably talk to my bf about boinking the hot guy at work! YOLO!".
You definitely will never be the same, but it doesn't warrant cheating.
Sometimes traumatic events scare you into taking leaps you might not have beforehand but I think OP's wife was wanting out of the marriage prior to the cancer and the healthscare was the catalyst that motivated her to F around.
Regardless of what motivated you, you chose a one-night stand over your husband. What I wouldn't give to have someone stay faithful to me and stay by my side through the ups and downs, not because he felt obligated, but because he just loves me that much.
And no, the barking is NOT attractive (to this woman at least) 😂!

Long engagement person here! My fiancé and I have been engaged for 3 years this December. We have a date for next year to officially tie the knot with a lot of people.
We've been engaged that long because we wanted to take that next step in commitment, but we wanted time to pay for the kind of wedding we wanted (we're mostly paying for it ourselves) and we ended up moving out of state that following year so it changed some of our plans.
Weddings are expensive, and yes, we could have just eloped, but we didn't want to. So we're still happily together and can't wait to get to get to the big day.

I feel like the husband following his wife to the party was a demonstration of how much he cared about her and their relationship. He went because he needed to see for himself that it was in fact happening. It was necessary for him to find out what that guy looked like - was she cheating because he was not good enough? Was she cheating because the guy was the most spectacular person on the planet? He needed answers. And confirmation. Maybe she could have gotten cold feet. He would have been immediately relieved, and he would have been there to hold her and hug her. HE was her partner, HE should have been there. I don't know why you guys think it was weird or wrong of him to go there. That was the first thing that made sense about the whole situation. Real human emotions and feelings. The rest of what happened, both before and after, just felt alien to me.

OP with the wife that had cancer is justified in his actions. His ex should've considered that although she was the one that was physically ill, the people around her who cared for her were experiencing it with her. Everything that you go through, your partner does too. That goes for illnesses and infidelity. She was terribly disrespectful and inconsiderate and needs to deal with the consequences of her actions. You dont get to skip it, just like her husband didn't get to skip stoandi g by her side through it all.

I don't think the child would be too concerned about something like this until their tweens/early teens so that may be a great time to tell them. Great time for "the talk" as well.

That 3rd story. I understand the emotional aspect of having a medical condition that is scary, and can lead to death. I know the turmoil of wanting to live, instead of just exist. When mine hit, I wanted to do 'firsts' that I have never done before (shots, go see male strippers, travel to new places, live out those fantasies, be spontaneous). However, even with the option to stray, I was flattered, but went to my husband to fulfill those dreams. He had been the one by my side while I was bedbound. Even not understanding my emotional issues, he met every need. Why go elsewhere? When his own cancer showed up 2 yrs after my health issues somewhat resolved, I understood his need to 'live'. We put a mattress in the back of the van and traveled seeing all the places that he had always wanted to see on those business trips, but had had to work instead. We cheaply camped at rest stops, and traveled. We are both determined to make the worst times of our lives bring us closer. It is hard to be thankful for anything when you are face to face with your mortality. Sadly, she may not realize the good thing she had, until she loses it. I know many men that leave when it gets hard. Women too. However, he had stuck around. She just missed out and took a good man for granted. (Barking is NOT sexy. However a nice growl...)

    2) many of the most popular wedding venues have to be booked yrs in advance, so if you want a specific place you gatta wait. This does help spread out the costs of everything else or gives time to save.
    3) my reason for a long engagement was 2 fold 1)covid and 2) most relationships end within the first 3 yrs of marriage, longer engagements are supposed to help determine compatability and if it doesn't work, you didnt get married, win win.

The thing that makes me laugh about the friends saying that he has no idea what she's gone is that they also have no idea what she's gone through. As far as the story says, none of them had a near-death experience so their argument is entirely invalid

I had several. I still don't know what she went through.
When before those I always was of the opinion that you should live your life in a way that if you found out that this was your last day you'd have no regrets. 🤷

Victoria didn't go too far because really she didn't destroy his reputation among loved ones and standing with his colleagues, he did. Inevitably people would find out the reason for the break up and hate Victor. I think it was actually kind of her to give Emily a wake up call, sometimes stupid people can't make even the most obvious of conclusions, and Victoria spelled it out. She moved out her things , secured support from her loved ones, and ended things with a cheater without giving him the opportunity to gaslight her. That's a mic drop! And with that massive of a confession any girl who dates Victor later will know he's a cheater eventually when she hangs out with his family.

Victor, Victoria and Emily? Haha, those are the first names of the main characters from the movie Corpse Bride by Tim Burton, which is about, to put it shortly, a love triangle where Victor is engaged to marry Victoria but accidentally marries a reanimated corpse of a woman named Emily.

The 2nd story it's not the cheating but the manipulation! It's sooo scary when the villain tells you what's right and what's wrong, isolates you from your children with YOUR OWN HANDS! That's like those magic spells in crappy tv shows where the hero just does posesses everyone and makes everyone do their bidding. What's next? Sell your kidney honey, you know how you're not enough for me - it's the least you can do for our happiness? Why don't you sit in the basement for a couple of years while me and my new friend who makes me happy, unlike you, have a great time upstairs?
This is the beginning of a horror movie in real life

The second story-wow. That dad is a master manipulator and his fav thing to do is turn women against each other. Even mother of his child against that adult child. I hate narcissists so much. There’s no way they have an open marriage or even a healthy one. If they did, the parents wouldn’t be giving the daughter the silent treatment after she found out. She read the situation correctly and now both parents are mad at her for seeing past the dad’s manipulations and the mom’s absolute denial.

Planning a long engagement here! Been engaged since our first anniversary, had a baby a year later and saving for a house next which will take a couple of years. We are getting the really important things done first before having an expensive party. We don't need the wedding to know we are committed to one another and we could just go to the registry office but we want all our family there

I don't understand why you would marry someone when you're already cheating and can't even have the decency to do the deed protected
Emily said sorry? Sorry doesn't fix cheating and getting impregnated by someone else's man.
Uggh Victor is scum. I hope he loses Emily too and just has to pay child support

"I don't understand why you would marry someone when you're already cheating"
Because people want to have their cake & eat it too.
Years ago my brother was dating the most wonderful girl. Smart, pretty, kind. He had a crush on her since middle school. A year into them dating he starts cheating on her with the biggest bitch I've ever met. For Christmas that year he bought his gf jewelry & his side chick edible underwear 🙄 (side note I didn't know he was cheating & thought it was a gag gift)
His gf finds out & breaks up with him. Brother never cried so hard. But that was all on him. He dated his side chick for 2 years & he was miserable.
He was young (late teens early 20s) but he should've known better & was an idiot.

As a woman I can say that men barking is *not* attractive. I'm more into men running around screeching like orangutans, pounding their chests and surroundings like drums. Or, grunting like cavemen, that's also just manly perfection.

We told ours when they were old enough to understand. My oldest was 12, my youngest found out by accident when she was 11. My husband and I had a conversation that mom wasn't cheating and that dad knew mom had a boyfriend. Dad had just ended a relationship prior to her finding out. It was a good conversation, and she felt better knowing that we weren't cheating.
