Established in 1846, Bonaventure Cemetery is a staple of Savannah tourism. This 160 acre gem sits on a bluff just off of the Wilmington River and has been featured in books and films alike. In particular, John Muir wrote about Bonaventure in his book "A Thousand-Mile Walk to the Gulf" remarking on it's unique beauty.
Come take a walk around the Cemetery with me. We'll look at some of the most beautiful and famous graves.

Like all of my videos, this was shot entirely on my iPhone. I've had some technical ups and downs doing this. Most of my issues have been with audio, but I think I finally ironed it out. Let me know what you think!

I didn't see anyone else say so, but a lot of the graves that have dates prior to the founding of Bonaventure are people that were originally interred at Colonial Park Cemetery in downtown Savannah. They were later moved to Bonaventure (or at least they hope they moved the right bodies) as Colonial Park was severely overcrowded. They were not originally buried there. :) Also, love the video. I like seeing people that just enjoy walking and admiring the beauty of these older cemeteries. I have the same hobby.

Great video. I've been there. It's a beautiful place.
A note: Bird Girl was moved due to her association with The Confederacy as she was seen as controversial. She was moved to the museum in effort to preserve the statue from vandalism and preserve its history its in a respectful manner.

Very nice video! Water level is low because river is tidal, it was low tide when you saw it. Edward Telfair was also buried there, he was a big shot back in the day.

I thought so. It looked like it pulled back a lot. Also, I totally missed Telfair while I was there. I remember researching some info on him in regards to another video. Thanks so much for checking out my video! Every view counts at this point haha. Subscribe if you haven't already cause I have more coming.

My understanding is that some graves were moved there from other cemeteries.

I'm sorry, but no. I was very interested in seeing this cemetery, but I saw more of your face than I did the cemetery! Normally, the videographer is seen at the beginning and at the end of a video while keeping up with the commentary while showing actual film of the cemetery the rest of the time. With this video all I was able to see was maybe 15 to 20 seconds of the cemetery then you would pan back to your face for twice as much time. In all truth I don't know if it improved further into the video, honestly I was so disappointed 10 minutes into the video that I ended the viewing and found another video of a cemetery documentary that was MUCH less aggravating.
