Why do ppl keep saying “Murray had a down year”?
He had his worst ever playoffs by far (after to all time elite 2020/23) and missed 23 regular season games, but it’s not a “down year” (regular season wise) when he averaged
21.2 PPG (tied for most ever)
    6.5 APG (most ever)
    4.1 RBG (2nd most ever by 0.1)
    1.7 stocks (most ever)
    48.1% FG% (most ever)
    42.5% 3P%
He did all that above in only 31.5 mpg!
His Per 100 possessions were actually elite and his best ever by far (regular season):
    33.3 pts Per100 (29.8 last yr 2nd most)
    10.2 assists Per100 (9.2 last yr 2nd)
    6.4 rebounds Per100 (T1st w/ 2018-19)
    2.5 stocks Per 100 (Most easily 2nd 2.1)
Nearly 4 made threes Per100 on 9.3 attempts per game
Honestly had Murray player 72 games with Nuggets 60+ wins he’s prob all star and possible all NBA candidate (Nuggets won at 75% or a 61-62 win rate with Murray in 2024 vs without him 57% W% or 46-47 win rate).
His injuries and up and down Playoffs this year sucks, but when he actually played in regular season (especially in many big games/wins and when you include the context they won 75% of time when he played vs 57% when he didn’t).

      @bjensen 24 дні тому +1

When you are trying to win championships, playing well in the playoffs is 10x more important than regular season efficiency.
And if you miss a bunch of games and force your other starters to push that much harder to pick up the slack, and then your starters look pretty fatigued by the time the playoffs roll around, that's a pretty significant problem.

    • @superdopehiphop
      @superdopehiphop 24 дні тому +1

@@bjensen absolutely, but it doesn’t take away from the fact it was Jamal Murray’s best regular season ever. No doubt playoffs much more important and if they’re talking just playoffs then it was BY FAR a down year, but it seemed like they were talking regular season “down year”. Maybe I misunderstood.

You have no idea how NBA rules and contracts work. They had no ability to keep Bruce Brown unless he wanted to get paid ALOT less! Wasn't possible because of max Nuggets couldn't pay him more under league rules....under ANY situation! Again, educate yourself before you chime-in with ignorant opinions.

  • @DavidJackson-fq9fn

Nuggets have TO answer three questions.
#1 Who is more important to the team, KCP or MPJ?
#2: Is KCPs or MPJs skill set easier to replace?
#3: whose contract is more likely to kill this team.
Answer to #1 is clearly KCP
Answer to # 2 is MPJ.
Answer to # 3 is MPJ.
If you trade MPJ, Your salary cap issues are gone. KCP stays on the team. You can more easily replace a 40% 3 point shooter, who can't create his own shot, who is a mediocre defender, 16 points a game with another guy. Now you can sign good vets for the bench because you can afford them. The ONLY answer is trade MPJ.

MPJ have similar results vs Portland Miami (last year Bruce Brown bail him out so Nuggets won) and this year vs Wolfs but there was no BB to bail him out with 15 20 pts..MPJ could not play in EuroLigue he would avrg 5 pts a game ..

He should demand a trade, even if he doesn't mean it, just to put some pressure on the owners. They'll have him play with Braun as a starter next year, which is unfair even to Christian, who isn't ready.
Then, once they fail, Matt will come on this show and trash Jokic, and a lot of Nuggets fans will believe him. The fans are going to turn against him when he doesn't win, so he might as well demand a trade.

Jokic, Gordon and Murray can say goodbye to another title, and go to NBA history. Keep MPJ who has a MAX contract that doesn't even deserve half of it. let's develop Zeke until he is 30 years old. I think that after the next season where Denver will enter the play offs with 5 or 6 positions and fall in the first round. Ionda Jokic should simply leave to finish his career and try to win the title with another club..Denver will be among the 5 worst teams in the NBA in 5 years. Toronto gets MPJ, Zeke, and Jackson
Denver gets Olynyk, their 19th pick, and their 31st pick in this year's draft.
Denver clears almost 50 million from their books and introduces more flexibility for the future and shakes up the bench a ton (it wasn't working anyway) and gets a playmaking backup 5 that can help run the bench.
Toronto gets an actual forward that could stretch the court and MPJ gets a chance to have a larger role.

It’s not worth going into the second apron to retain KCP. He will get his bag somewhere else like Bruce. The problem for the Nuggets is MPJ and his contract. He is under performing his contract, and, his contract is eating up too much cap and pushing us too close to the second apron. So the question going forward is … is it more likely that MPJ can play up to his $36 mio contract or is it more likely that we can trade him for two players for the same money who can contribute more than MPJ. At the very least Calvin needs to explore trades for MPJ.

KCP's free agency is not the problem. It would be preferable to keep him, of course. But it doesn't matter that much, his contract is replaceable. The real problems are the Nnaji, MPJ and Mal contracts. Nnaji should be traded this off season, and Mal and MPJ should be traded before the trade deadline unless they get themselves to a totally different level which, face it, ain't going to happen by this point. Sadly, this front office is probably too overly attached in human terms and sunk costs too. He's not washed but I think he's about to get paid more than he is worth.
Since I like him as player, I'm happy for him to secure the bag- as a nuggets fan, they should not overpay for him.

GM & Coach butted heads = GM won. Malone will PLAY the youth.
KCP is gone. CB is 2 & Mal will be in shape; MMA all summer.
Nuggets will draft Dillon Brooks and Triston Newton and only offer 3yr. extension.
Picking up Vlatko option and Reggie stays on player option.
Jay Huff is on the roster and will sign UDFA Quinton Post to 2-way with Key and Newton. Maybe sign Jordan and Holiday

Don't worry guys KCP undersized, 10-15 points a game. Disappointed against the wolves. Idemo matori. Zivela Srbija. No one cares about the seeding anymore. LA last year and Mavs this year showed it. The vets will all be injured by the end of the year.

  • @Themlpg73

The idea that Nuggets can get players to be nr1 defence in the playoffs is not valid. Because you don't have a rim protector anyway. I don't see how we can be nr1 defence with Jokic. We need to play to our strengths. Wich is offense.
Losing Kcp is more of an issue than you guys make out. His shooting is the main reason. Minus 1 shooter around Jokic, then Jokic/Murray don't get the space they have now. You can't have more than one non shooter. Wich is Gordon.

  • @KingslayerSrb

KCP is gone and so are the Nuggets chances at the chip. You can spin it however you want, Braun is nowhere near that level (yet, or maybe ever). You ain't wining anything with such a glaring hole at 2 spot (on offense OR on defense), or has everyone forgot Will Barton?

    • @johnbarkley925

I love Kcp but he is the weakest link in the team. He is a great defender for sure but he is undersized against big guards/ wings and his offense rarely goes beyond 10 points per game.
Braun could be better in everything (rebounding, blocks, scoring )

Gillespie showed some growth but I don’t think he either gets or is capable of including the rest of the guys on the floor, and I think the cohesion of all five on the floor is a big part of what makes the nuggets great. Not a fan of Gillespie at all personally.

Between Boston and Dallas. All 6 teams they had to beat to even get to the finals had a better regular season record than the BEST team Denver played in last years title run. There should literally be an Asterix by the Nuggets championship. The Heat would have been the worst to team to ever win an NBA Championship, had they pulled off the upset. Maybe the easiest, most meaningless ring of all time.

Last year Jokic chances of wining championship was 50% 50% Nuggets finally traded for some decent players like KCP and Bruce Brown and he had average team to work with.
This year Jokic had 40% 60% of wining the championship by losing Bruce Brown.
Next year if Jokic lose KCP he will have 30% 70% procent chances of wining the championships.
And from this point out till 2027 MPJ contract expires chances of Jokic wining championship will go down and after 2027 he will be out of his prime and its over.
In other words if Jokic stays with Denver Nuggets Nikola may not win another ring ever again.
If you are Nikola Jokic fan or even Denver Nuggets fan you should be wish for him to get traded and save his carrier he give everything to Denver he deserve to get traded.
