I love the Star Tarot. I’d recommend it for the guidebook alone. However, in addition, the artwork is stunning. Although there is definitely a Thoth influence, it’s also got RWS influences. There are also cards whose meaning and symbolism are unique and to this deck, so it’s kind of a mash up of systems. Cathy McClelland took years to paint this deck and you can really tell it is a well thought out deck not at all a slap dash, throw it together creation. What I love about the guidebook is Cathy discusses the symbols she included in each card, what they mean and why they’re there. The cards are now matte, however the card-stock itself is shite. Really thick and really hard to riffle shuffle. The guidebook and artwork overcome the not great card stock.
I have Creative consciousness healing cards and I love the deck. Especially because of the meditation/visualisation and journal prompts. Also I wouldn't say it's a deck for when you want to be nice to yourself and get some nice message to calm yourself down (maybe you didn't mean it like that with the nice message, but it felt like it to me (also when you said at the beginning that it seems "too nice")), the deck always wants you to do something the situation (even if just a journaling, thinking deeply of it or a visaulisation). But true is I was surprise to see it was on your wish list, because it just doesn't seem like a deck you would normally work with :D (as far as I can tell only from watching your videos for some time) (so I'm not trying to tell you that you should put it back on the wish list, I don't think you'd ever really work with it :) ) (p.s. did I write down two or three decks from this video to my notes to look at them closer somewhen? Yes I did. Did I need it? Not really :DD But yeah, neverending pros and cons tarotube videos... :) ) P.s.II - I really enjoyed the "face to face" intro and outro! :))
The Sacred Symbols has been indispensable in my practice. It does go with anything and has given me some really uncanny readings, probably be it so archetypal (broad themes). It’s one of my favorite oracles of all time.
I rehomed the Alchemical Visions Tarot, the cards were simply to big for me to use the deck in the way I wanted. I loved the art work, it is truely a stunning tarot.
A lot of people will say The Star is Thothy, but it's not really. It's the creator's own system. She sometimes uses Thoth influences, but not that often, and her astrological correspondences do not match the Golden Dawn system that spawned the Thoth and RWS. It's a wonderful deck with a really helpful guidebook that even a beginner can use, and the amount of symbolism is perfect for an intuitive reader. ❤
I'll bet your local metaphysical shop could order Red Tarot for you (and then you pick up from them). I've done that several times with my local bookshop (which is definitely *not* a "carries tarot decks" kind of shop, more like an art and poetry and philosophy books kind of shop), and they were very happy to do so. Just a thought!
50 Plants That Heal is a wonderful, practical plant deck. The guidebook takes you through how to craft tinctures, balms, oils, etc and each card lists the benefits, history and ways to prepare the plant. It’s great if you’re an herbalist, and it’s also great to just learn more about the plant. I’ve used the deck in many, many herbal workings, both mundane and magickal. Also, most of the plants in the deck are native to England. I have the Dirt Gems Oracle, too. It’s a little less accessible unless you’re familiar with the plants, or unless you’re willing to get into the guidebook every time you use it. The guidebook is good; it gives you a nice overview of the plant and its use and associations, and a nice divinatory meaning. It’s a great deck, though, if you’re willing to put in the effort.
Saaame to the Crystal Tarot! In my wishlist for ages. At first I didn’t buy it because it was pips, now I don’t buy it because it’s pips but not Marseille 😝 If it went on sale I’d definitely pick it up but I feel like it’s always more expensive than other tuck box decks and there’s always other decks I want more. Every time someone tells me I buy so many decks I tell them: you should see all the one’s I’m NOT buying 😅 Fun video!! ❤
Haha from too pippy to the wrong kind of pippy 😂 tarot reader problems! I get what you mean about it being expensive though - there's always something a little bit cheaper that gets put in front of it.
And another up vote for Tarot of the Sweet Twilight. I really like it, The art does deviate from RWS but the guidebook does have meanings that explain the creators own vision. I think its going to be an excellent intuitive deck.
Dirt Gems is a knock-out. I purchased the photographic Sacred Nature Oracle too, and although the images are inspiring and beautiful I gave it away because there was something just a shade too sentimental for me (which is not to say it would be sentimental for others).
Hi so lovely to actually see you. Regarding the red tarot book, could Watkins in London order it for you? Just a thought…great video and a good reminder to declutter my wish lists 😂
This was such an easy video for me. The only one I liked was Dirt Gems, and I already have it! The Crystal Tarots, although beautiful, are too small to get the full impact of the artwork. I had the older version with the blue backs, but I never used it.
Tarot of Hearts is Amaaaaazing!!! It was an impulse buy for me bc it was on sale. The image on the front of box is death but she also gives me big Magician vibes. Highly recommend.
the sacred symbols has too many symbols on it that I don't really find relevant to me/ my background, while lacking some crucial ones. Instead, I made my own deck. I took a pack of index cards, and drew all the symbols that are relevant to me and my practice and life experience on the cards, and coloured them. There is also a similar deck by Lennan Smith on mpc. She has a walkthrough on her channel. This was what inspired me to make my own one in the first place. The good thing about a self made one is, I can add symbols at any time. The downside are the cardstock (which I don't mind) , and if I want to broaden and develop my understanding, I cannot just read a guidebook, but need to do research by myself. However, personally I find that is not even a downside, as I find most guidebooks lacking and so I tend to put in the research work anyway.
I didn’t realize that Sacred Nature had gone mass market! That one has been on my list for years. Can you imagine it with Drowning World or Somnia tarots?! Dirt Gems is on my long wish list, too. I love the art, but the lack of keywords keeps me hesitating.
Dirt Gems is a really good deck. I will say, as someone who isn't a 'plant person' really, I am very guidebook-dependent -- I draw a card and read the book's entry -- but I don't even mind because the book's so good. First one card reading I *sobbed* because it was so right on and so touching. Not every reading has been that intense but it is really a special one. 78 Acts I have but I've not read yet. Red Tarot is quite possibly the best tarot book I've read in the past several years -- very, very good. I'd love to take the author's class at some point. I also got the ebook and ended up wanting and getting the paperback.
Ah I think I remember you talking about the Dirt Gems before! Good to know the guidebook is good. I've put Red Tarot on the back burner until I get a physical copy but it really is so good. I didn't even know the author had a class, definitely checking that out!
I love the Tarot of the Sweet Twilight! Highly recommend! I have the Star Tarot too but I've not used it much to this point, it is lovely though! I'm planning to work with it during Yule this year. The Creative Consciousness Oracle is amazing for self-worth readings. I truly enjoy your videos, thanks so much for sharing your thoughts!
There’s this deck, Tarot Dada, which I dont see anyone talking about it. Since you are considering the Surrealist one, take a look at it bfore. It’s also that vibe, yet way more “surreal” 😊
It’s funny how much your taste and mine overlap. A lot of the same things are on my list. I’ve had tarot of sweet twilight for years tho and it a really cool deck. It has such a diff vibe in person than online. It gives great readings and it pulls no punches. It def tells you like it is. I think you might dig it. I edged mine in a deep turquoise and for some reason it really improved my relationship with it. I just got dirt gems. Normally I don’t like oracles that don’t have any keywords or phrases to bite into, but I loved it and wanted to try it. The book is beautifully written and distills a nice message making it accessible. It has a classic 1 card and 3 card spread, but it also has a custom “root to seed” 7 card spread which seems really lovely. I just got it so I haven’t had a chance to work with it yet, just flipped thru several times. The quality is nice and the art is amazing. I have been going back & forth on sacred symbols for ages for kinda similar reasons to you, so I’d be curious to know what you think if you end up with it. On your list I’d prolly put sweet twilight, dirt gems and tarot h’arts at the top based on nothing more than what my vibes say you may dig lol. I think star and crystal feel like more at the bottom and surrealist will be more of a very specific mood type deck, not one you’d use a ton. That’s my baseless opinion. Thanks for sharing 😊. Also it was nice to see your face on camera
Thanks for your thoughts! It's always so interesting to hear from people with similar tastes. Based on how you describe it, Sweet Twilight definitely sounds like something I would get on with!
The Star Tarot, not to be missed. The book is amazing and profound and it’s a mash-up of the Thoth and RWS systems. Definitely one of my favorite, and the quality of the cards is excellent as well.💖
I absolutely LOVE the Surrealist Tarot! It makes me think of things so much differently than any other deck, since the interpretations from the booklet are also super surrealistic. I love the Alchemical Visions Tarot too, of course. I love collage decks and alchemy, so I had to. It’s very much focused on personal alchemy, and the psychologist in me loves it. But yes, GIANT cards. Single card meditations is the way to go. I actually have 50 Plants That Heal too. I’m more versed in wortcunning, and have a number of herbal decks. The only such British-based deck I have is the Healing Plants deck put out by the Chelsea Physic Garden with illustrations by Elizabeth Blackwell, which is good, but not as visually striking. The 50 plants that heal deck is based off the book by the same artist called 100 Plants that Heal. I don’t have the book (yet) but I bet it has the same style visual representation.
Crystal Tarot seems totally up my alley. I've been craving stained glass imagery lately, so that hits the spot! Tarot of the Sweet Twilight is high, high, high on my wish list as well. If I saw it in a shop, I'd probably buy it instantly. I picked up 50 Plants that Heal for $5 in a discount store, and I do love it! I used it a lot during the summer when I wanted to go through the ritual of drawing a card but didn't have the space to receive a message. Since I believe it's based in England, you'd probably get along better with the plants even more than I do.
Alchemical Visions is amazing. It was over $70 CAD but totally worth it. I usually pull one or 2 cards as an overall and underall (?) theme and then oull more cards around it. Guidebook explains everything about whats on the card. Oh, and Dirt Gems is alsonworth it. Its so much more than a plant deck.
I love this style of video! I have none of these on my wish list of about 100 decks and I certainly don’t want to add any more on it 🫣 except I just did add Tarot of the Sweet Twilight and The Star Tarot after watching this . I need to go through my wish lists exactly like this because it’s overwhelming just thinking about it
I love the Star Tarot. I’d recommend it for the guidebook alone. However, in addition, the artwork is stunning. Although there is definitely a Thoth influence, it’s also got RWS influences. I added keywords to the dirt gems and use it so much more now. It’s lovely.
I have two editions of sacred symbols and highly recommend it. The guidebook is amazing as well!
I have Creative consciousness healing cards and I love the deck. Especially because of the meditation/visualisation and journal prompts. it also pairs well with other decks.
The Sacred Symbols has been indispensable in my practice. It does go with anything and has given me some really uncanny readings, probably be it so archetypal (broad themes). It’s one of my favorite oracles of all time.
I have a couple of archetype decks and I really enjoy them, so I expect this will end up in my collection at some point too!
The crystal tarot is i believe the Picardian system. I own it and love it but the elemental associations are not typical. Cups are air, for example
Oh interesting, I don't have anything else that follows that system! I didn't know that about this deck, so thank you
My first thought... Oh Jean Luc was a tarotist 😂
I recommend The Star Tarot as the first one to get. it's stunning and magical. the guidebook is awesome too.
I rehomed the Alchemical Visions Tarot, the cards were simply to big for me to use the deck in the way I wanted. I loved the art work, it is truely a stunning tarot.
I think I would only use them as altar cards because of the size
A lot of people will say The Star is Thothy, but it's not really. It's the creator's own system. She sometimes uses Thoth influences, but not that often, and her astrological correspondences do not match the Golden Dawn system that spawned the Thoth and RWS.
It's a wonderful deck with a really helpful guidebook that even a beginner can use, and the amount of symbolism is perfect for an intuitive reader. ❤
Interesting that it doesn't match the Golden Dawn astrology, that's definitely good to know before I get it!
@@TarotMagpie yeah, she uses the modern system that includes Uranus, Neptune and Pluto.
Another recommendation for Sweet Twilight. It's such a fantastic read!
The sacred symbols has been on my wish list for ever as well!!

Knowing the guidebook for 50 plants is so practical is points in its favour!

Good to know about the guidebook, thanks!
The Star Tarot has also been on my list for a very long time, but I want to dedicate time to Thoth as well.
There’s always something more to study!
@@TarotMagpie too many it feels like sometimes! Idk where to focus lol
Dirt gems is so amazing I love it for sure!I love the connections with nature and abstract symbolism. Idk it does so,etching for my intuition
Dirt Gems is a knock-out. I purchased the photographic Sacred Nature Oracle too, and although the images are inspiring and beautiful I gave it away because there was something just a shade too sentimental for me (which is not to say it would be sentimental for others).
I want the conscious healing oracle for inner child work💜
I think it would be perfect for that
The Fey tarot is awesome! I love that deck! Alien vibes plus magical fey vibes! I love it.
It looks like a really fun deck!
I love pairing Dirt Gems with Lilifer Tarot 😊
Hi so lovely to actually see you. Regarding the red tarot book, could Watkins in London order it for you? Just a thought…great video and a good reminder to declutter my wish lists 😂
I could probably order from a few different places but ever since having the thought I would like to buy it in-person, I've got stubborn about it 😂

That's a good point about the Crystal tarot - I love the size of the Lo Scarab decks to handle, BUT some artwork deserves more space!
Tarot of Hearts is Amaaaaazing!!! It was an impulse buy for me bc it was on sale. The image on the front of box is death but she also gives me big Magician vibes. Highly recommend.
I am too rushed for sharpies, but I think I have a dark brown marker somewhere... I think dark brown is the way to go!
