The fight with Qual was just an appetizer for what is to come. There isn't a lot of battle in this show compared to other shonen as it's more of an examination of the human condition. But when there is, it goes *hard*.
Whenever you do get around to watching in Japanese, you should re-watch previous episodes again. This series is rare in that you pick up new things when you watch again.
Episode 2, Fern mentions Frieren learning odd spells, one of which is turning sweet grapes sour.
This episode we learn that Eisen's favorite food is sour grapes.

I think thats the insane part of this anime, it doesnt specialize in fighting sequences but it was so well made! I know that a few things get lost in translation from sub to dub but ill def be going back just in case i missed anything. Oh that makes a lot of sense! I watched a few reactions for this episode and some ppl noted that about Eisen and i found myself asking how i missed that.. it makes more sense now lol even though its been a few episodes already the connections within these episodes have been insane!☺
