This time on the Ident Review, we're looking through the new sequences given to us from the great big ITV rebrand of 2022! We look at ITV1, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4 and ITVBe, and just how each of them adapt to the new look for the other side! Which one will become the favourite? Which ones are winners and which are duds, find out in the latest episode of the Ident Review!
The Ident Review began in May 2018 and since has spawned over 100 episodes and even a spin-off show, the Ident Review Extra! It remains a firm AMTV favourite to this day!

In my opinion, the new ITV idents are almost there. I do like the idea of all five channels having their own variations on the same locations since I think that helps to unify them all under the same ITV umbrella. I also LOVE how each numeral has it's own animation style during the swipes.
What I think might have helped with this is if each channel had their own sub-theme to apply to their ident variations. Aside from the logos themselves, there are very few clues to tell me what kind of channel each one is. As an example, I'd have the following sub-themes:
ITV1 - All live-action, no VFX, realistic things happening in each location, mix of emotions
ITV2 - Teens and young adults, party-vibe, quirky 2D animated overlays, "fun" scenareos
ITV3 - "Blast to the past", period costumes and scenarios, VFX used to make footage look old
ITV4 - A world full of action, such as a martial arts fight scene in the station and a car chase in the field
ITVBe - Animals behaving as humans, like sheep playing football in the field or a pig busking in the station
And if CITV was added to the rebrand…
CITV - Invaded by kids, sets covered in bright colours, silliness and messiness ensue
Why the "animals behaving as human beings" sub-theme for ITVBe?
@@NicolasPetrosLanning Because seeing the giant bunnies outside the cafe made me chuckle (largely out of surprise) and I think it fits with how people on reality shows tend to behave like they're animals rather than real people. 😆
Why a "martial arts fight scene at the station" when there already was a martial arts ident on ITV4?
@@BionicalTelevision I wasn't aware that ITV4 already had a martial arts one. Still, why not? It could be a little homage to the past, like how BBC1's "lockdown" versions of their Oneness idents included some people doing the capoeira, much like how there were two men doing the same martial art in their Rhythm & Movement idents.

I'd like to think the ITV 1 dancing ident would be used on Saturday evenings before shows such as BGT and DOI. It that that sort of vibe. I hope more locations are used over the coming months/years.

These aren’t what I was expecting from itv! Itv channel turning to itv1 and the rebrand, I’d say it does the job!
First, also its pretty cool how they made the same idents but with different people and stories to tell. I made a video w/most of the idents but not all of them.
The field element of the idents were filmed at Leighton Hall, they did some filming in St Anne’s on Sea but i don’t recognise any parts in the set

I think the sets and variants suit each channel well, and I'd be interested in seeing more being revealed from the package, still, the music choices for me aren't all that appealing. Especially the train idents for ITV1 and ITV2. Unfortunately, the pet peeve is I'd see the tracks more suited for a phone or drink advert.

Again, I love these new idents & I hope they further add to them. Also, I heard somewhere that CITV might get a rebrand next year, too. If that's true, that would be cool as I never liked the 2013-onwards look.

@@BionicalTelevision Coming from somebody who has seen all the previous looks for CITV on UA-cam. The logo looks way too plain with the use of only one shade of yellow. The overall aesthetic for the presentation also felt very toddler based for a channel aimed at a 6-13 demographic. It is almost like watching one of those stock Nursery Rhyme channels on UA-cam.
Well they might forgot CITV existed or might not care about CITV’s logo and I would like to see the CITV rebrand I hope it will look cool. I will miss the 2013 - now logo.
@@Its_thunder_pro_official. It does seem that CITV is on auto-pilot, despite the occasional new/original show now & then. Their 40th anniversary wasn't even celebrated in any way.

ITVBe: N/A
I don't know if I like the idea of using the same 4 backrounds for all 5 channels or not, but they look ok. Love the graphics on screen and they better get used to saying 'ITV 1' after saying just 'ITV' for 9 years. Nevertheless, an excellent review!

They aren't bad, it's a shame the itv creates era has ended now, and I also miss itv3's old look with the glass jars, but all good things come to an end as they say and this is a look that is slowly growing on me. As I said on your last video I'd like to see if CITV will go for the same look when they rebrand.😁

As far as I'm aware, they are saving beach for January and Cityscape/Cafe for December on the other channels. ITV reem has completely gone. I also think the different city scapes are unique and not the same footage colour graded.

It's strange how at the moment CITV, ITV News etc. has not yet been rebranded.
ITV News is just a program, not a whole channel like twenty years ago. And the actual "itv" logo itself (numbers aside) is the same as it has been for nearly ten years now. No need to change the news intro really.
I gotta admit that watching that person in the train desperately trying to get the woman's attention (while she's got her headphones on) on the ITV Be side was pretty funny.
Maybe I'm going too deeply into this but hey, it could represent the cliché stereotypical reality tv contestant that tries to do everything in such exaggerated manner to get everyone's attention.
The ITV Reem font has actually been retired in favour of a brand new one.

Regarding the woman on the train trying to get attention, I first thought it was a fare conductor or something till I realised it was a handbag around her, so another suggestion is she's been out all night and got sloshed and is now off her head like most folk on a weekend bender I've come across 🤣

Does anyone know if ITVX will let you stream Local News? EG. If you stream ITV currently you have to watch London Regional news regardless of where you are in the UK. Thanks
Hi Adam, there is a problem with these idents used on UTV in Northern Ireland. I have been hearing from viewers there (I have family there) that they are unhappy, as UTV name is still there, along with their UTV logo, however the ITV1 idents and continuity are used now on UTV. In fact they used the excuse of the pandemic to axe all local continuity on UTV. It seems a botched up situation now, as UTV is not UTV 1 for example, and there is a strange mix of UTV and ITV1 on the channel now. Someone told me they wished ITV would finally axe the name UTV, create a new regional news name for the regional news, and rename ITV1 NI.
That's a bit too BBC-like an approach though. And as you may know having watched ITV in the Face, ITV channel with BBC approach and programming do not ratings bring 🤣😂
With a rebrand usually comes new idents

The concept to link all itv channels is fine for itv 2,3,4,be ..as there low ratings channels and actually nice that they flow and link well now better than before when itv2 changes from 2013 rebrand stuck out from all other itv channels.. itv 1 is the big channel big ratings the leader of the pack ... Itv 1 should be unique from the rest stand out be the leader . Let the less watched channels link but let's have main itv1 bigger stand out unique..new look fits well with 2,3,4 and be ..just wish main channel stood out more break free stand out as main channel

Yaaaaaaay also; I haven’t watched the be bit’s yet but I know what you’re going to say: the field is glamping, the station is, well I’m not sure and the cafe is littlebe (In my opinion but I haven’t a clue what the channel airs) I also thought the jockeys represented each channel (for 4)

Itv1 cityscape night has nothing happening because it’s their ‘new safe’ ident. They should have more of those as the station ident has been used for going into news programming twice and it just isn’t appropriate.
There is a new one with a rollercoaster. But it appears before the soaps sadly.

I had a dream similar to this. ITV1, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4, and ITVBe have been rebranded by Sliz/27 Studio (the man who made Melon Playground) and new idents appeared 🙂

I do like the way the idents tie the channels together, but I do have to wonder... other than us Ident nerds, are regular viewers going to notice? And, in fact, would there be a case of "oh, this is the itv 1 ident.. I'm on the wrong channel.." confusion, to boot..?

I like all of these idents.
I liked the look of the UFO ident the most from ITV 4, what would have been cool to see is the UFO affecting the logo and the ITV 4 logo turns into pixels.
But the ITV4 logo is added in the edit of the ident.
Don’t change me to a oversimplified logo!

These would have been good if there was a clear vision on what each channel represents. The ITVBe ones are so poor and say nothing about the channel, nor are appealing enough to make them memorable. I feel the itv3 set are the strongest and I would have loved the field ident to have more people searching in it, or instead have an archaeological dig as in we unearth the archive content.
Maybe when the other channels adapt the "Cityscape" ident with it’s own views then that would change

Train station: a bank worker entering the train.

ITV2 | Cityscape: the buildings become lollipops.
Seaside: people dressed as Element Animation characters walk in a straight line
Cafe: Luke (SMG4) eating.

Train station: Gimmick hands show up and pick up people.
ITV3 | I cannot decide but I believe they also show ITV4's sport so this....
Cityscape: A giant soccer ball.
Seaside: A tennis match.
That is the sport ones but I promise I can do more.
Cafe: a murder mystery.
Rural: The way my homies mow my lawn.
Train Station: The Paramount logo mountain appears.
ITV4 | I ran out of ideas so this can work a bit more.
Cityscape: People climbing up the buildings.
Cafe: Kung fu. (Possibly a throwback to 2013)
Seaside: A sleeping bag with a boxer coming out and UFC-ing (as we in Corpanation St say) a guy.
Rural: Parachuters landing.
Train Station: the Tandem Trekkers, but now at the train station.
ITVBe | Cityscape: A large pig on a vine.
Seaside: spiders wrestling with one another.
Rural: Shi Tzu's dating.
Cafe: A cow eating.
Train station: A turtle walking with his axolotl brother.
ITVBe | Beach/Seaside: wearing 6-inch heels to The Beach
Cafe: people drinking champagne
Cityscape: People in the background letting go of balloons (possibly a 2014 throwback)
Train station: Catfighting and throwing phones
Rural: Wedding
I think THIS makes more sense, no anthropomorphisation, I don’t think idents themed around animals don’t link to a channel focusing on reality TV shows

ITV4's Cafe ident is clearly a nod to ITV Racing broadcasts as they are jockeys in silks and horses with saddles on just as ITV4's Railway Station depicting a Football referee issuing yellow and red cards is a subtle reference to ITV's World Cup/Football coverage.🙄

New ones came out today. Itv 1 got a cityscape with a roller coaster!

ITVBe hasn’t aired that ident filmed in Lytham St Annes since the 1st, it’s most likely to reappear next month when the others adapt the Seaside (Lytham St Annes) ident, and the ones in Croydon (known as Cityscape) are being released slowly

ITVBe has just started airing the “seaside” ident filmed at Lytham St Annes, I think the Cityscape ident filmed in Croydon would start airing tomorrow
Update: Aforementioned ident has stopped being used until the other ITV channels adapt it, the ITVBe seaside ident will re-appear when the others start to air it
Another update: All versions of Seaside have been airing since last month

It’s been almost two days and sadly there are no signs of the ITV2, ITV4 and ITVBe “Cityscape” idents airing, and also the ITV3 one

I think that ITV has sunk to a huge low, the idents are awful compared to all previous iterations, they just feel clinical given each channel no longer has its own true individuality like it did until the worst rebrand going. Obviously since the loss of Regional identity, ITV has slowly been becoming a very shallow and pale version of what it once was when it was truly Independent Television and it had a charm to it, now ITV has become like the BBC and become a soul less existence, as was watching old BBC 1 and BBC 2 idents which used to be great in the 90s to 00s and now are bland and boring like these idents are for itv, very bland and extremely unimaginative of them. To be honest if they were going to rebrand ITV itself, then this should have included a full refresh of the ITV News titles which were near on 10 years old, plus a refresh of GMB, Lorraine and This Morning titles which again are very old format titles which to me shows this ITV rebrand lacked any real ambition overall as to have been a decent rebrand, it should have also had a full refresh of its ITV News (both National and Regional titles) along with Good Morning Britain which hasnt seen a true refresh since it started airing in 2014

Not all television idents on TV are "live action" and no idents are irrelevant you know! Some of them may be live action and irrelevant but that does not mean that there is no such thing as animated idents. If I commented what you said, how would Quest Red have their animated 2020 collection? And how would Channel 5 have animated idents since 2008-2011 & 2020-? Odd!
They could do something different instead of unifying everything.

How did you find the original idents of ITVBe easily when on The Ident Gallery they've changed?
In my opinion, the new ITV idents have a very intriguing concept. I do like the idea of five out of ITV’s six channels having their own variations on the same locations since I think that helps to unify them all under the same ITV umbrella. I also like how the four numerals and Be have their own animation styles during the swipes.
What I think might have helped with this is if each channel had their own sub-theme to apply to their ident variations. Aside from the logos themselves, there are very few clues to tell me what kind of channel each one is. As an example, I'd have the following sub-themes, although I’ve changed ITVBe’s theme:
ITV1 - All live-action, no VFX, real things happening in each location, mix of emotions
ITV2 - Teens and young adults, party-vibe, quirky 2D animated overlays, "fun" scenarios
ITV3 - "Blast to the past", period costumes and scenarios, VFX used to make footage look old
ITV4 - A world full of action, such as a martial arts fight scene in the station and a car chase in the rural
ITVBe - Glamour and heightened reality featured & expressed in the locations which a few of them are considered “mundane settings”, such as a club scene in the station and a wedding in the rural
And if CITV was added to the rebrand…
CITV - Invaded by kids, silliness and messiness ensue
