If the slate has cracked through to the rear then that is a big issue. You can get slates repaired, so it may be worth asking a local pool table installation specialist about a slate repair. Hope that helps 👍
I been doing tables for over 30 years and there is nothing more irritating than dealing with bondo! You cover up the screws and it takes 10 to 20 minutes to dig out one screw. Now I understand when you are dealing with heat when it's in a garage or something. But let me tell you. If you support the middle of the slate and use super glue on a peace of paper it WONT rub out the wax. Lay your wax line down and scrape it. Run the torch over it again and scrape it again you wont have a problem. If your a die hard, got to do it with bondo cause you think that's the only way to do it, please don't bury the screw with it! Also you can buy wax made just for this. It's expensive but works very well in hot environments.
We appreciate your input, thanks for taking the time to watch! Absolutely 100% on getting Bondo out of screws - what a nightmare! We have a section in the video showing how to cover the screw heads before applying the Bondo - essential if using Bondo. Great tips and input, thanks for sharing 👍
I would recommend against that actually because the paper may pull out of place. Whereas with stickers they stay put, and you can set them precisely as you need them, and be confident they won't move, before dropping the Bondo over the top. They don't have to be fancy stickers, any cheap sticker available from any supermarket of dollar store will be perfect. Hope that helps! 👍
It can be a tough job, but definitely turpentine and old rags is the way to go. Change the rags regularly as the wax starts to collect on the rag (otherwise you end up moving it around rather than removing it. Hope that helps! 👍
How do you remove and prep a previous pre beeswax slate waxed slate table for bondo? I need bondo because it will be installed in a non air control garage a hot garage in North US? How to prep slate for bondo if previous slate was beeswax and needs bondo due to hot temptures in garage?
Completely understand. We've also done a video on sealing with Beeswax, and we have a video coming up covering Bondo vs Beeswax outlining the advantages and disadvantages for both methods. The decision which works best will depend on circumstance and which you prefer. Bottom-line - both work! Thanks for sharing 👍
I use his video for the Beewax come out awesome. Unfortunately my table outside and the Texas heat melted the wax. So now I disassemble my table to use bondo since my table outside in the heat. And wax stain my felt when it come through.

I can't seem to find the video on wicking and glueing the seams. Could you provide a link please?
That is part of our complete table installation video (advanced version), which has not been released yet (at the time of writing) 👍
i have a crack in the middle piece of my slate what would you suggest about cleaning both sides of the slate?

Can you use cut out medium thin paper or carboard material to cover screws and bondo over instead of stickers?
I would recommend against that actually because the paper may pull out of place. Whereas with stickers they stay put, and you can set them precisely as you need them, and be confident they won't move, before dropping the Bondo over the top. The best way is to use turpentine and get to work rubbing it down using old rags. Hope that helps! 👍
I wouldn’t ever use bondo, it shrinks and is hard to remove to re level the table. Beeswax is the way to go🎉

Thats why you should superglue your slates before the bondo. Makes it a 1 piece slate, easy tp re level
