Wonderul. Pat was a unique individual, uber-talented with a warm, seductive voice. I had the pleasure of knowing him briefly, and he was everything I imagined and could hope for in a rock star: friendly, approachable, no nonsense, funny, deadly serious, slightly arrogant, down to earth, larger than life. We could use more tributes like this.
I met Pat & hung out a little in Las Vegas when he had his 'Life in Rock & Roll' show in the 2010s. I was so impressed, and sorry that more people weren't there. He was so nice, and friendly, and down to earth...
The Smithereens - great band. Most underrated band in the world. Great songs, great performers, authentic band from day one. DiNizio ranks with the best writers, what amazing songs. Rest in peace brother. Your music will live on. To the band, continue to rock on. We will be there with you.
I miss Pat so much.... We met Pat DiNizio in 2009 when The Smithereens were playing at at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, New Jersey, and have considered him a good friend ever since. He always gave us a big hug and a smile, always asked about our daughter Ariel when she wasn't with us, and even had her "open" for The Smithereens at one of his Barbecues a few years back. Now he's Left this Planet, which is Devastating. What I *Do* Have is Great Memories of the Music and Camaraderie My Family was so Fortunate to have shared with Pat, the rest of the Band, and a wide array of Fellow Fans during the past several years. Rest Well, My Friend! Thanks for the Music and the Memories! We Love You, Pat!♥
I had always been a casual Smithereens fan. Then a couple of years ago I got a hold of a few of their Cd's and I was mesmerized at what I was hearing. I really think their music is truly, soul soothing. I have to say that Pat's voice and the band's music are really something quite spectacular. If any of you are reading this comment, thanks so much for creating some of the best songs these ears and countless, fortunate others ever had the pleasure of listening to. Well done fellas, well done.
Incredible. What a heartfelt tribute. This really tugged at my heart strings. I've been a Smithereens fan since the 80's and thought all their stuff was great. Pat is sorely missed.
October 12, 1955 Plainfield, New Jersey - December 12, 2017 (aged 62)Summit, New Jersey, One year seems like a month ago.. R.I.P. - Rock In Peace.. Our beloved Pat D.
RIP. Pat's voice stands the test of time. His soul truly shines and comes through all of his tracks. One of the all time greats. I can never get enough.
An amazing, loving tribute to an incredible musician, singer, songwriter, and family man that we lost far too soon. #RIP Pat. We miss you and your amazing talent.
Rock in Peace, my brother. Thanks for the music, the memories and the soundtrack. When I was a kid in NYC, I used to pop "Especially for You" into my walkman, get on the PATH train and take a two hour vacation in Hoboken. I hope the rest of The Smithereens will continue rocking in your name and memory.
Saw this at Pat's memorial at BB Kings the following January. Still brings tears. Rest easy Pat, we all miss you and are thankful for the words you left behind.
The smithereens got me through school and the tough times. there is a lot that Pat gave us and his legacy lives in the songs. If you love his music than you are my brother ... blood and roses.
Wow...damn it, the pictures with your daughter .. That hit hard From one Beatle fan to another, thank you Pat for all the great music, we were both born in the same year. And I also agree, what a great tribute from the heart Peace for your family and friends, I signed the guest book ' You say goodbye and I say hello..' Hello, hello
Same here. I met Pat years ago and we ended up comparing notes about raising our daughters, who are about the same age. So yeah, that hit me hard, too.

Well done, John! I was at the show on Saturday night with Lou Matino. Both of us from WHS Class of '83. I first saw the band at The Court Tavern in 1985 (?) while a student at Rutgers. We'll miss Pat.
John! Can't believe we didn't connect Saturday. We were hoping you might jump on stage with Schwartz and break out "Venus Sounds"! Give my regards to Patti Schuman, Love that gal.
This is one of the most indelible tributes to a band I loved so much since I was twenty years old. I'm an editor myself and the use of the many unseen and unpublished photos makes the band even more personable. The timing and montages are just right and if more of these photos and songs were added, edited and expanded--I could watch this for hours. This is more than a tribute--this is a labor of selfless love. Thanks for keeping them honest. Kudos to you guys! RIP Pat. The world is not quite the same without you...
Pat and the smithereens belong in the rock and roll hall of fame !
