He is singing, playing......without a tremolo bar. MAD RESPECT.
Still hard to believe EVH is gone

" Just keep playing man" -EVH

Nobody can cover a VH tune without big smiles on their faces. Their music just makes you happy.
dive bombs without a whammy bar
That, and that shaky vibrato when you beat the tremolo arm. Holy shit
dude that was sick move. very nice
Phil's amazing but that was pretty basic. String bending before the nut. Still, the execution is what makes it cool!
Yeah that's a week one trick
@@tyshred9251 You keep commenting on this video and talking shit. Why don't you show us your revolutionary guitars skills. While you're at it, show us your killer songwriting abilities. Oh, one more thing know it all, it's weak, not "week!"
I miss Phil doing these videos. This was a clip from 5 years ago but he always had so much fun which you saw on in the way he played and spoke about the instruments.
Same here - I was watching his guitar reviews for some years - these are epic pieces of art ;-)
Great song Phil, you don't get older, you just get better. You're better than 95% of the rest. Rock till the end
Phil X is one of the people I thought of when I heard the news. Its not EVH's lead or rhythm playing I always remember, Its that EVH was always having fun playing...
Man I just started a little garage band with some buddies to ay an occasional bar show and shit and we kinda had a sit down before we even jammed talking about how we just NEED to have fun above all else if we're gonna do this. And we likened it to Van Halen as we talked about it more.
Also since Van Halen's gone I suggested that we use our lead guitarist's last name as the band name, too! Hehehe.
Eddie Van Halen is why I got interested in playing guitar again after years of not playing. Thank You and Rest in Peace Eddie Van Halen.
The heaviest Hofner bass sound so far ever. Great cover, as always by Phil and gang
Perfect bell on the ride and such a lucious, wet snare. Love it.
Awesome tribute to EVH. May he RIP
RIP Eddie!!! Fantastic tribute, great PhilX
Nice tribute to Eddie. And I love how Phil X does it all without a tremolo. The neck bend was sick and the tuner effect at the end was most excellent!!!
It's a tribute from 5 years ago, here's the original source : ua-cam.com/video/V-snMHqOyz8/v-deo.html
Rick Beato has a vid today where he does the tremolo with his finger on the fret, insane
Oh no way Phil still has the Marshall with the modified grill 🤩. I remember those days with the sticker wrapped Ltd Viper. Gold! 😃⚡. Man you are an absolut blast to watch. Always have been!
Eddie will live on forever in what he did for music, and how many musicians he has influenced.
In mourning his death, always remember to celebrate his life, existence, and contribution to this world.
RIP evh.keep rockin in heaven.great job Phil and band!
"Nobody swings like the King!"
RIP EVH
Eddie's smile, playing free like a Hawk...

EVH will always be the KING !!!
PHIL X IS FREAKIN' AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Excellent. that's some great technique, skills, and most importantly "FEEL".
Phil X is highly underrated as not only a guitarist but as a vocalist as well! Really dig this man! 👍
Me too. Been watching Phil for years now. Always liked the guy. His energy, his playing, his enthusiasm. 2 thumbs up Phil. Rock on.
My first really guitar guru.
The only contemporary player who i love to follow
I don’t think he’s underrated as a guitarist . He’s bad ass
Underrated by whom? The numerous recordings he has played on as a highly sought after studio musician? Or underrated by Jon Bon Jovi?
Your comment is stupid
Not underrated here! "super tight!"
A les paul and hofner for VH? Crazy how well it works
You make a bad day Better! thanks Phil!
The best VH tribute. 🤟🔝
My god such talent
The tone is incredable, I was one of those teens who bought VH 1
In 79 and we looked at each other with our chins in the floor!! Thanks for the music Eddie
baron von chickenpants Friedman baby!

🎶🎸👍😁 1978 i was 16 years old when this album debuted ! I was infatuated with this music
Phil you’re amazing
Great job phil eddie would be proud i remember how eddie used to make me feel when i first heard some of his solos. When i put beat it on i would imeadiatly skip to the solo and listen to it iver and over and then i discovered van halen and i changed forever

Missed the Phil X Energy.....
Yeah, he was strangely subdued in this one
This is Phil subdued? Damn!
Fitting tribute RIP EVH
Thanks for the tribute Phil. That is one of my favorite Van Halen songs of all time. You did Eddie proud!!!
As usual, the Drills rock. But something about that room. Always sounds great in there. Props to the the mix engineer.
That was cool. This guy is so humble.
This is fantastic! and I can actually hear the bass. love it!
Too talented...my new personal hero
If I could only sing like that
Great performer
I like the way you play you get the tone and the magic of any song great man 🤟🤟🤟
Think this might be the best cover on youtube
We lost Eddie :-(
BUT: we still have Phil X :-)
FORTUNATELY!
May God protect Vai, Satriani, Malsteem, and Batio. We can’t afford to lose another titan
@@jakejuntilla1752 Take a look at Guthrie Govan ( he can do a little something-something on guitar ). R.I.P. EVH = Legend. Nice tribute.
@@michael_caz_nyc what do you mean something something? Something like nick jonas did?
May Phil be with us for years and years to come!
Killer snare sound!
Homeboy on the bass with the dope backup vocals though

My favourite VH song....you did a cracking job. 🙌🏽🖤🏴
THA KING WILL NEVER DIE WITHIN US!!! Nice Werk Bro HANG TUFF!!!! ByGoD!! Tell'M Ed sent ya!!!
Amazing record
Damn, Phil. This was an incredible performance. The whammy adaptations were awesome to see. The rest of the band was great as well. Kudos and thanks!
Ok I was not expecting that kind of bass model.
Ya that is the last bass I would choose to play in this song... this is not a Paul Mc Cartney song....This song needs bass balls not bass thuds
@@BillyBongwaters I like it actually. Gives body but doesn't detract from the guitar.
@Gary Mitchell right on
Phil X - the only fella worthy to tastefully fill in for EVH for a reunion tour!
Nice work Phil, and the band,..........RIP Eddie.
RIP Eddie!
Phil!! The modern day Eddie! RoCk ON!
